I would highly recommend Night Owl to everyone. Paul and Bruce have been my savior. They always stop bye to check in and make sure all of our concerns and needs are met and fixed. They have helped me in a crunch time with upcoming owners visits that without hesitation, and without them, I could of easily had a horrible visit. They are about customer relations and not so much about bottom line. There isn't anything that they can't do. Thank you for all you have done and I look forward to the next project.

This company is horrible. They came to dI work at Avant at Steele Creek and it was BAD! They replaced every toilet in my apartment and none of them are completely secure. They all rock back and forth. We had to take everything out of our cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms for them to paint them. The paint is peeling and it wasn’t evenly painted to begin with. There are even spots on the cabinets that are a different color. They replaced the faucets and they are crooked and didn’t work properly once they installed them. They got paint on the floor and didn’t even start on time when they were supposed to. The electrical outlets in the kitchen where they put up backsplash weren’t even properly secured back in place. They are literally just hanging on. They come right out of the wall. Don’t hire this company for anything. If I could give a zero star rating I would.

Horrible work! They came to “renovate” here at Avant apartments and it honestly looked better before the renovation. Their work is shotty at best. The paint job was horrible and is already chipping after a week. The subway tile is crooked and they left grout all over the tile. The new handles that they put on the cabinets are all crooked. The new toilets they put in move around, they didn’t caulk them. Not to mention how inconvenient it was. We had to have everything out of our cabinets and off of the countertops in the kitchen and our 3 bathrooms for a week. A whole week without the use of our kitchen!! All for a “renovation” we didn’t ask or want to be a part of. Completely frustrated by this whole process and the horrible work they did.

This contractor is conpletely and totally irresponsible. They are doing work in our complex and have left my apartment door OPEN and UNSECURED on 2 separate occasions for more than 24hrs after an upgrade was done. Obviously the project manager doesn't check the work or else the apartment door would have been CLOSED AND LOCKED! Once is a mistake, twice is a pattern. Apologizing after the 1st time my apartment was left wide open doesn't fix poor management or poor procedures that have just been demonstrated again by your failure to correct the EXACT SAME SITUATION previously brought to your attention by the complex.

I am a resident at The Madison Apartments in Charlotte. Our apartment complex is in the process of getting renovated (yay!... I thought)

A notice was given to us after 8pm Monday 7/23, which I saw on our door Tuesday morning (7/24) telling us renovations were starting that day. This is extremely last minute notice especially with the list of things we should do to prepare properly. The most tedious being empty all cabinets, but it doesn't specify which units are getting new cabinets so it's hard to know if we should or shouldn't empty everything. If we don't, we could possibly be fined... or if we do and we're not getting new cabinets, it's a waste of my time. I aired on the side of caution and emptied all of my cabinets last Tuesday. Renovations have yet to start, so I'm living with my entire kitchen on the floor. As you can imagine, this is very inconvenient.

Then we received another notice on Monday 7/30 but it says: "date noticed 7/27". It also says renovations will be starting Monday 8/30 now... which doesn't exist. Maybe the notice meant that day.. Monday 7/30? Regardless, all of this information is misleading and incorrect. I've lived with my kitchen on the floor for 2 weeks now, going on 3.

We got ANOTHER notice Wednesday 8/1 saying now renovations are pushed back over ANOTHER WEEK. My entire kitchen has been on my floor for 2 weeks making it very inconvenient to cook or do anything.

Now I just came home from vacation and it looks like someone installed some cool backsplash behind the oven... but there is white residue all in the kitchen sink. I was just washing dishes and tried to use our garbage disposal... and it's clogged/doesn't work! I know it wasn't us because we haven't been home and it was clean before we left. When we walked in today (8/5) it smelled like gas... our gas stove was ON low. The knobs are super easy to press when you bump into them... which I'm assuming whoever installed the backsplash must have done since they had to move the stove, then push it back into place. So our gas has been on for at least 2 days while we've been out of town.

I have tried to email twice and gotten no response. I am 100% disappointed with this company and the inconvenience it has added to our apartment for the past 2 weeks... and still going. The communication, cleanliness, and consideration for tenants is terrible.

UPDATE 8/15: We finally got our cabinets painted last week. It was SUCH a bad paint job. Paint was very light/splotchy in some areas and chipping in some areas as well. The guys were in and out of my apt the next few days so I mentioned it. It kept getting forgotten. They finally painted another coat... and probably wouldn't have if I wasn't home to tell them (since they don't email or call back). There is paint residue all over our stuff in the kitchen. So sloppy. We are still waiting on cabinet doors. This whole process has almost been a MONTH. So extremely disappointed in this company as a whole.

I'll admit it. Night Owl is still awesome. I thought maybe they got to big and really didn't care about giving quality service to the multi-family industry but I couldn't have been more wrong. Paul and Bruce from the electrical division killed it on my external lighting. The price was reasonable , the work was done ahead of schedule, the job area was clean and safe for residents. I'm impressed with their old school work ethic of get the job done and done right. I'm looking foreword to dealing more with this company in the future.

Horrible company! I currently live at th Madison apartments and they were contracted to do our renovations, which sounds awesome until you see their work. We have been living with our entire kitchen on our living room floor for the past 2 weeks and it is very inconvenient. One day they left our door wide open with our AC at full blast. Not only could anyone have walked in and taken my stuff but they had no consideration for my electric bill. They added a somewhat ok backsplash in our kitchen but it is a complete mess of a job. There is grout all over our walls and our stove top. And the tile is so unevenly cut. The Madison should ask for their money back.

Hired the company to handle multiple electrical tasks inside and outside my home that had been long overdue to be fixed. The technician - Johnathan - was prompt, friendly, professional and went through each job with ease! Once I saw his quality of work, I asked him if he would mind me Adding on two other jobs (replacing two old light fixtures) while he was here. I ran to Lowes, picked up the new fixtures and he installed those too. I feel such a sense of relief to have all those jobs crossed off my list and my mind in one day thanks to Johnathan and night owl. Happy customer!

As a Property Manager in the multi family industry, dealing with contractors can make you or break you. Our company has been dealing with Night Owl for a few years on several properties. To be honest, I was ready to write them off not too long ago. I had a visit from Paul & Bruce & honestly, I must say that THEY are the reason that I have had almost ALL of my capital work approved for next year to be performed by Night Owl. I was able to share my concerns openly & honestly with no judgement or excuses. They convinced me to give them the opportunity to make it right & they have completely gone above & beyond to change my mind & give me a reason to fight for them to be the company that I choose to deal with for all of my capital improvements moving forward. Thank you Paul & Bruce for being men of integrity. This company is Blessed to have guys like you!

I never do reviews. Never had anything bad enough to push me to write one. But this is the exception. I’m in Compass apartments in Melbourne, FL and this renovation project has been a joke from the start. The project started at the end of February. Due to “mixups” or whatever with the suppliers, I was the only apartment in my building not to get the granite countertops that were promised. Was not informed of this til weeks after they were to originally be done, after calling the project manager multiple times to figure out what was going on. My kitchen has practically been in my living room the entire time because we NEVER received communication about when the work was to be finally completed. No, I didn’t expect them to work during the pandemic shut down, but I did expect communication as to how everything was going to get completed. The project manager is notoriously difficult to get ahold of and doesn’t seem to hold his contractors to any sort of standards. My counters were finally installed 2 days ago. They were supposed to be done during the day as I had specifically requested the day off since I’m working from home. They did not show up until 8:30pm. The project manager promised the job would take less than an hour. It lasted over two hours. Yesterday, they were supposed to patch the holes in the wall left by replacing the counters and do a backsplash behind the stove. I will say, that group of workers was much more competent than the ones who did the counters (who by the way left one of the granite pieces unattached to the cabinet). They did great work. But again, they were supposed to be here to do the work around 5pm, didn’t show up until after 6:30. Before they left, said they would come back today to patch the gaping hole under my counter and to clean up the drywall or whatever they used to fill in the holes in the wall. Today was supposed to be the last day. No one ever came back and, no surprise, I can get no communication or answers from the project manager. I am so far over this company and their unprofessionalism. I cannot wait until they finish the job and leave. They REALLY need to get their act together. The other negative reviews confirm that this is not an isolated incident and honestly, I’m surprised they’re even still in business. If I could give them negative stars, I surely would.

The workers are efficient and hard working. They clean up behind themselves. The Project Manager is continually on site to address any issues.
The work being done in my apartment was extensive and was done to my satisfaction. Inconvenience to me was minimal. My clean up was minimal in spite of many upgrades done in my apartment. I congratulate Night Owl.

Ive had Night Owl complete many projects at our apartment community. Jeremiah Hawkins is always my first call when I have a new project (we are under renovation so I call him often). He is very responsive and quick to arrive at the property. He also has great customer service!!! Depending on the size of the project, pricing information is usually sent over the following day. The quality of work provided is worth the money you spend! Jeremiah and the rest of Night Owl provide a great service and I highly recommend them.

Again Celsius Apartments continue to use these people who come in trash your apartment, leaving lights, and doors unlock. I don’t know who in their right mind would think this is ok. I’m sick of apologies and nothing being done about it. Same story. I work 7p-7a so of course I’m dead tired and hear them when they came in that morning. I wake up at 4:30pm with all my lights on, door unlock, and debris all over the kitchen counter and floor. If this is how you treat your own home I’m embarrassed for you!!! Last time they left all my groceries to melt on the counter while switching out a refrigerator, lights left on, and my door unlocked. I received what I thought was a sincere apology and a $100 gift card for my groceries that was left out. I’m sure it was way under what I paid for the amount of food in my fridge. The whole situation is disturbing and disrespectful on all their part. Celsius knew they’ve done this before and still uses them and allow them to do what they want!!

Renovations at Celsius Apartments, Charlotte NC - This was my first experience with renovations being completed while residing as a tenant in an apartment, as most projects are done after a tenant's lease expires and prior to the start of a new lease. I was annoyed at having to pack things as if I was moving and feeling displaced, but the saving grace in this project was JJ. He was very professional and beyond helpful. He managed the project as if it were a project for his personal home, and that I appreciated the most. He was extremely apologetic when things did not goes as planned and attended to any mishaps with much grace and professionalism.

Going forward, I think as much advanced notice should be given - a minimum of three full days or a one-week notice should be given depending on the complexity of the project. Not everyone is available to attend to the request(s) due to travel or other unforeseen circumstances, and threatening to fine tenants for work that they did not request is not helpful or professional at all.

As for the workers, they were extremely hard working, but not as considerate/professional as I had hoped, i.e. not cleaning up after themselves, dumping the waste in my tub and sink....not sure if my garbage disposal will ever work the same again...using my electricity to cut tiles in the breezeway, rummaging through my drawers. Aside from these things, I am pleased with the work that was completed.

I hope this feedback will be useful not only for Night Owl, but for current and future tenants as well.

So I don’t do reviews often. But this is one deserves a review. If I could give 0 stars I would. I’m at compass apartments in Melbourne Fl, and they just “started” renovating my apartment 2 weeks ago. It is now 4 days after they said they were done and I have cabinets not put on drawers not put back or fixed I have paint everywhere on the floors and tape along the wall. This is the worst job by any contracting company I have ever seen. Why this place decided to pick “Night Owl” is beyond me, idk if they’re just cheap (it shows) or what. They come and go as they please and get this. Sunday morning the only day I have off they come knocking on my door because they left all of their tools and paint in my apartment like it was a storage unit. Guess who answered, not me. Worst service EVER and I mean that with great enthusiasm. Just for future reference if the company ever reads this. Hire people who can speak English and have good work ethic.

Superior service. Hands down the best contractor I’ve had the pleasure of working with.

I’ve worked with MANY contractors on both sides of disposition & acquisition of properties over 4 states and multiple cities.

Their level of commitment to not only the properties but our residents has been like none other. JJ & Andrew have seriously been an asset to this renovation project and have made, what potentially could be a very stressful situation for the community staff & residents, a pleasant and exciting experience.

You will not be disappointed. Super organized & communicative throughout the entire process. Our residents are very pleased with their work and the manner in which the crew has treated each of their homes.

The worst company in remodeling. They use the cheapest in the market. they destroy everything they touch and leave everything dirty. so they work even knowing that people live in the apartments. Poor...

Had a shower door replaced have to pay an arm and a leg for a “clean up” expense that just for them to use the trash can I had and me have to remove the glass myself while previously needing spine surgery.

And on top of it they leave keys to enter my unit under a floor mat instead of returning to the apartments office. Leaving access open for my unit.

So I’m at the apartments in Gaffney. Our complex sent emails a month ago saying there were going to be kitchen renovations starting June 14. We had to take our literally everything that was in, on top, and under the counters/cabinets. For whatever reason there were unable to tell us when each apartment was going to be worked on. Which I found to be odd. I’m thinking if you signed a contract with professionals they should know how long it should take and which time they would be at each complex. It’s week 3/4 since that email and they just came this week. IVE GONE ALMOST A WHOLE MONTH WITHOUT REAL HOMECOOKED FOOD. Not only that they left the doors open letting the air conditioning out, left it unlocked even though they had to use a key to get in, left the lights on for hours when they had to cut them on when they came in, left stains and debris all in the floor and stove, one man actually turned the oven on and didn’t notice. Then today I’m finally putting everything back on Friday/ Saturday when in actually they were done on Thursday and didn’t say anything. I look under the cabinet where the sink is and it’s a wood block with nails sticking out if it. Like what is that?! I’m irritated that I have to clean after people that I didn’t hire, that I had to wait on for 3 weeks, who left a careless mess and who most likely ran my utility bill up. So irritated.

We love working with Melissa and her team whenever our renovation clients are wise enough to hire them! Their organization and communication makes my job as a contractor much easier and more enjoyable.

Our firm recently acted as the General Contractor for a whole-home renovation designed by Wright Design. The experience was great. Madison and Alexis are incredibly creative and thoughtful designers. From a builder's perspective, I especially appreciated Madison’s ability to brainstorm and iterate on design tweaks to solve technical challenges and to keep costs in check for the client. The finished home is amazing. Each room is unique, yet the entire design feels cohesive. It was rewarding to bring their vision to life, and we look forward to future projects together!
