So I dropped the ball and almost forgot my anniversary and when I remembered I made it to the garden center as they were locking up. Ryan saw the urgency on my face I think and opened the door for me and when I told him it was my anniversary he helped me find a gorgeous azaleas tree to give to my love. Thank you soo much Ryan for SAVING MY BUTT!

The two employees offered no help and seemed bothered by simple questions. We needed some suggestions regarding plants for our new home but all we got was “the plants have tags”. Maybe they are a place for professionals who know what they need, but in any case, costumer service and courtesy were non existent.

I frequent this garden center and usually have a good experience, but today was the exception. For today's visit I purchased 2 beautiful pots. One which had a price affixed and the other that did not. I was after leaving, having been being preoccupied with my next errand while checking out, was dismayed to find that the cashier named Vanessa, who rang up my purchase didn't bother to find the actual price for the pot with no tag, but instead lazily simple charged me $57.00 twice rather then checking for the actual price of the second pot. Mind you, I'd overhead a brief chat between the cashier and another employee while continuing to look at options, which indicated the price should have been somewhere around $30 for the non tagged pot. To be charged nearly double that with no disclosure or mention is unacceptable and I will be returning the pots despite how much I love them as such practices are not consistent with how I wish to be treated when patronizing a business.

I love the place. So many unique flowers and decorative features for indoor and outdoor gardens. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. This business has been around for years and I had forgotten that it was there ... decided to check out spring blooms and pots. The time was well spent because I've been back (2 weeks in a row and counting!). Looking forward to my next adventure in Durham Garden Center.

I come here often and buy plants to fill my garden bit by bit. The garden center carries such beautiful and interesting varieties of plants! I always want to take everything home with me but have to stop myself. The store is beautiful, and the prices are super reasonable. The staff is also friendly and helpful. Love the garden center!!

My "happy place"! Huge huge selection of indoor and outdoor plants. Their turnover of house plants is very quick, so there are always new options. At times I've been slightly disappointed in the selection of pottery with drainage holes, but in the past few months the selection has really grown. They are super responsive and helpful in person and on social media. They have performed Instagram seminars on various topics with their horticulturalist, which were so helpful! I hope they keep doing these. It's a great atmosphere!

This garden center was much like many garden centers EXCEPT for the people. The people there obviously love their plants and their customers. We just recently moved to the area and didn't know what to plant or when to plant to attract pollinators and birds. They showed us what the plants were, what they attracted and added in whether they were deer resistant.
They gave us extra information about every plant we considered. And they answered every question we asked.
We left feeling more confident with some extra knowledge. We will definitely go back because the people there were so awesome.
They have a good mix of perennials and annuals and native plants. They have nice planters and an inside shop with indoor plants and some seeds and gift items.
If you want some advice or just to pick out some plants, it's a great place to go. -
Great shop- staff is always friendly and helpful. All of the indoor plants are marked with a paw print to indicate pet-safe! Very nice pots with better prices than big chain stores. Extensive outdoor landscaping plants and trees, too!

I love this place for houseplants! They have a great selection (better than the Raleigh farmers market) and more affordable prices than more "upscale" places (e.g. Zen Succulent)

Love this place! Lots to choose from. Okay prices. My favorite places to get ferns. So many varieties. Would definitely recommend

We love this place! Great selection and such nice people work there, we make this our main plant spot!

This local spot has really knowledgeable folks and they sell plants native to our area so it makes gardening much easier. They have a large variety of plants and trees.

I want to get some milkweed was and was pleased to learn about several varieties. A very helpful employee suggested which type I should get for my garden. I was impressed with all of the choices and the friendliness of the staff.

The best GARDEN Center in Durham! I learned so much from the owner Keith! He is always so friendly and knowledgeable! I bought a monstera there 2 years ago and it is STILL ALIVE and thriving!! THANKS DURHAM GARDEN CENTER!!!

I have been here about 5 times since I moved here last July. I always feel unwelcome. I was going to go today, but I’m dreading the visit. Decided against going.
I like the quality of the products, the layout, and the set-up. Hate the experience once I pass the door. -
I’m not sure if I’ve had a better experience at any other store, ever. I visited the garden center for the first time during my lunch break on Monday and I had no intentions of making a purchase that day. As I was about to leave, Rosa greeted me and asked if she could help. I think I probably asked her 100 questions and she seemed so genuinely happy to help with each and every one. I left with 5 plants and a way better understanding of what I needed for my flower bed. When I got back to work and punched in, I realized Rosa must have helped me for almost 30 minutes.
I went back the next day and bought 5 more! Lol
Keith was at the checkout counter for both of my purchases. Him and Rosa are the absolute customer service dream team. I will for sure be back! -
I have been going to this store for years and the positive energy NEVER disappoints! I love how elegant it always is and how friendly the staff is when I walk in. This is defiantly a high class garden center:) But everything is affordable and of great quality!

I bought an air plant from there and it is absolutely the best! The owner Keith, talked to me for half an hour about caring for my air plant and answered other questions that I had about my other plants at home. The plants at the Durham Garden Center are sooo well kept, I nearly tripped and fell looking at how shiny and green the monstera plants were, but Keith kept me from falling! LOL So be carefully because the plants there are so beautiful and well kept it could literally sweep you off your feet! Go on in there, and be apart of the DURHAM GARDEN CENTER family!!!! They also have a point system to get great discounts!!!

Based on others reviews, we visited about a month ago, on a Tuesday late morning. It was obvious, they’d received a shipment as most staff members were pricing. Not one person greeted us. I was looking for a few bushes and perennials. At one point, I found someone, who was watering, and asked where I could find heuchera, coral bells. He said, sorry,I don’t know. By then, I was fairly frustrated. I walked up to a guy who was checking in the shipment to ask if someone could help me. He sighed, put down his invoice and rudely asked what I needed, I asked about a specific bush ( I don’t remember the name). I do remember he corrected my pronunciation and said, nope we don’t have them. I said thanks, picked up one Rose of Sharon I found and checked out. The person who checked us out was friendly, thankfully.
I’ve worked in customer service most of my career. We always focused on the customer’s needs as without them, there’d be no business I retired four years ago and worked part time (25-30hrs/week) at my dream job- a garden center in Merrifield, VA. We were definitely customer focused. I guess I expected the same experience. -
I guess my only complaint would be that a good portion of the plants were labeled as "assorted foliage." Maybe just take a little time to label the different hoyas and such, rather than put a tray out of assorted foliage just because they came off the truck that way. The store was cute though. The guy at the register was nice but not overly friendly and talkative, which is fine with me bc I can't stand someone bothering me while I'm minding my own business having some me time lol I bought a gigas and I can't wait to see it grow.
