I found Emerald Energy through the EnergySage site. Emerald was the most responsive to inquiries, most helpful with information/options provided, and ultimately nicest to deal with. John Leonard at Emerald is incredibly knowledgeable and a very nice guy. They also put together the most competitive quote, and were adaptive to our budget. John worked closely with me to design and install a roof-mounted solar panel system that met our needs, and even helped to ensure we were aware of and taking advantage of available rebates and credits, both Federal and State, which really brought the cost down. The NC rebate process is especially challenging, and I'm convinced that without John's advocacy and assistance we would have missed out on that $6,000! I have already recommended Emerald Energy to a friend, and would have no reservations recommending them to anyone considering adding solar panels to their home.

Let me start off by saying I did a lot of research before I even decided to look into getting solar. I started reading up on "was it worth it" and looking into benefits. I saw that prices of the systems were coming down by a lot, in addition to the rebates (that were going to be each year). Obviously, there is the environmental value and the increase to property value as well. We decided that going solar was the right decision for our family, especially with the rising costs of electricity.

We then did our due diligence in researching the many different companies that installed solar in our area. We wanted a local company, one that had excellent reviews, and one that had all the right certifications. We talked with several different companies, and received quotes from each of them. John Leonard from Emerald Energy NC was one of the easiest to deal with. I am one of those customers who has a million questions, and John, who is the owner, talked with me directly to answer them.

What I loved about the process is that they are not committed to one brand of solar panels. They will work with you to find the best solar system layout, using the high quality equipment, at HIGHLY competitive prices. I cannot emphasize that last point enough. You want to make sure you are going with a company that will back up their work and use the right equipment, but let's face it price is also a huge factor in all of this. Most installers only used one financing company that charges a higher rate and adds more to the install price. Emerald finds a other lenders that work out better, and with their lower cost to begin with, it was a no brainer.

They handled everything - HOA approvals, county permits, interconnection agreements with the electrical company - ALL OF IT. Installation was amazing, Justin, their site manager led the team to install. It took about two days. They will even point things out on the roof that might need fixing. Since my house was a new construction house, there was a minor issue that I had to have the builder fix. I never would have seen or noticed it. My inspector never got on the roof!

Their electrical team ran all my wiring down through attic and into my garage, thus I did not need that ugly pipe down the outside of my house. The layout of the system is amazing too. I have some in the front and back side, but you can hardly tell there is any on the front with the type of panel they used.

Customer service, as I mentioned, was, and still is amazing. Anytime I have a question with something (like my monitoring system), I can send John an email or text, and he immediately responds.

If you are considering going solar, I would highly recommend giving John and Emerald Energy NC a call!

John was super easy to work with, helped us design and redesign our project, went out of his way to make sure we got what we wanted and was always very easy to get in touch with. They helped me navigate through the difficult process of picking the type of panels, getting the panels installed, replacing my roof (which was old and almost ready to be replaced), and working with Duke Energy to get my system connected. Our experience with Emerald Energy was great. First, Justin spoke with us for about an hour over the phone about all the aspects of a PV system. The best part, other than his friendliness and knowledgeability, was that he acted as a consultant rather than as a sales person, giving us the pros and cons of the various choices we faced along with cost estimates.

As it turned out, Emerald Energy could handle everything that we needed, including the installation of a new roof, help with tax credits and rebates, solar panel and battery installation, and car charger install. We were also able to qualify for a Duke Energy rebate by jumping on the application quickly, with advice and coaching from John and Justin.

I would strongly recommend them to anyone who wants to go solar. They made it easy and we're happy with our new system.

My experience with Emerald Energy has been completely satisfying. Jason and John are expert in their field, the products from which they build a solution are high quality, and they provide timely and effective communications to the homeowner. The planning, application and installation experiences were all excellent. Their contractors were courteous and professional and easy to work with. We continue to brag on the final system that now supplies much of our power.

The most valuable aspect of this experience, and the aspect that differentiates Emerald from others, has been their constant contact and engagement to ensure that all steps were done correctly and on time. The homeowner has some significant responsibilities, and Jason made sure we did our part correctly and on time.

John, Justin, and Jordan at Emerald Energy were great to work with - from the initial meeting and now even months after they've completed the installation. John set clear expectations and the team always exceeded them.

After seeing some questionable solar installs I had some concerns about the aesthetics of the project. John and the team listened and addressed them appropriately - changing their plans where possible to accommodate. The installation was fast and professional.

Emerald Energy installed my Solar system in December of 2020. John had come to talk with me, and we worked on the system that would fit onto my roof. He kept me updated as far as the installation date and the progress of the permits with the county. They did all the paper work to get the system approved. They also coordinated with my Electric company. The men who did the installation were courteous and very neat as far as keeping my property looking good. Now that we are having mostly sunny days, I am seeing the system paying off in reduced electric charges! I was very happy with the job Emerald Energy and John Leonard did for me.

Jan. 2022. I am adding a little more information here. I now have had my solar system from Emerald Energy for a year. I have been very happy with the results. In 2021, I paid the minimum to my electric company since my system generated enough power to cover most of my needs for probably 9 of the 12 months. In August I even received a check from my power company paying me back for the excess energy created over the entire year. That was a nice surprise!

Emerald Energy installed a 10KW system on our house. Their pricing was superior to many others and most importantly, they did a superb job...with a timely installation. Extremely professional with great communication. Calls are either answered or returned ASAP. Service and warranty outclass others I researched. We had wind damage to our roof. It was replaced last week and today, EE is re-installing the solar panels - which they removed days before our roof was replaced. Thank you Emerald Energy. I chose this company by the reviews and wanted to be sure to write a review to assist others when looking for a Renewable Energy Specialist Company in NC. The company that installed my solar panels back in 2018 went bankrupt . Emerald Energy made it through the pandemic which says a lot. I needed a new company to monitor the panels - then I lost connectivity to Solar Edge monitoring platform. John Leonard diagnosed hardware failure with the inverter. New one is installed and household is back in business. Very easy to communicate with Mr Leonard. No drama (unike the last company). Straight forward dealings. So easy to work with. Thank you! I recommend this company to any one.

I spoke to multiple pure solar and generator contractors before I decided upon Emerald Energy, and I am super happy with my decision. The system works fantastic, and I'm looking forward to seeing the performance as the seasons change. I've got a good bit of knowledge from work with high current and power generation systems and I'm super impressed with the resulting installation. The implementation is super clean.

The city inspector walked away telling me "You've got a great system here", and passed the install with almost no comments. It was the least dramatic city sign off I've ever seen, and just further proof of the quality. I've distributed many many cards to friends and co-workers, and look forward to several more Emerald Energy installs in my neighborhood in the very near future.

I engaged Emerald Energy in Q4 2021 to complete a solar installation at my home before the end of the calendar year.

Emerald Energy completed the project on-time, despite less than 4 weeks to complete the installation.

Emerald Energy was proactive and professional in all communications related to the project.

The team assigned to complete the installation showed genuine concern about the quality of their work and solicited my feedback throughout the installation process.

In addition to physically installing solar panels and critter guards, Emerald Energy handled most of the paperwork related to the job, including regulatory filings.

As I write this review 6 - 7 weeks after installation, I am pleased to report that I have encountered no issues with the install.

They were also the only ones to come out in person to look at my roof and optimize the setup based on my property's unique characteristics and my preferences for offset. High quality and good price.

Emerald Energy folks are truly fantastic when it comes to your solar panel installation. They are reliable, very responsive and the price range is also very competitive. We have got 18 panel system. I worked with John and right from day one he answered all my queries. He was quite honest and provide all the details to the best of his knowledge. The quality of the installation was great. John continued providing support even after the installation to get Duke change the meter, and start the production. For us it took little over 3 weeks to get the system start exporting over the Duke's grid. But I don't think John and his team had any control over that since it was purely in Duke's domain. Overall, we are quite happy with Emerald Energy team.

I highly recommend Emerald Energy - their competitive price, quality materials, transparent process, and personal attention stood out to me. In addition they walked us through the Duke Progress rebate application process. I was also happy to support small, local business.

We did our research before installing our rooftop solar system this spring. We met with and obtained quotes from 4 different companies who had done installations in our neighborhood in the past 2 years. We choose Emerald Energy based on the combination of service, word of mouth, design to our needs, and of course price. We were not disappointed as John Leonard and Emerald were really terrific at every step of the process. He was flexible and willing to adjust the design as we went through the process. For example we wanted to incorporate an EV charger into our install and John was able to change the inverter to Solar Edge which allows us the option to directly charge from the solar panels. Our roof was 20 years old, so we decided to replace that as part of the project and Emerald was able to include that in the project at a competitive price. Emerald was very responsive throughout the project, from design to installation and inspection and even gave us some helpful suggestions to get Duke Energy to install our meter quickly after inspection. We highly recommend Emerald Energy for roof top Solar.

Emerald Energy has been all I could hope for in an installer and maintainer of my solar system. Very professional, stuck to schedules and ensured everything was operating at top efficiency, I highly recommend their services and will likely be using them again when I upgrade/modify my system. I have 27 solar panels installed and 1 Tesla battery with 13 kw-hr as backup. It has been operational for over two years with only minor problems. Emerald was on top of the problems with a quick fix when needed.
