I have been using Calhoun Plumbing for many years now for some rental houses that I have. I have always been happy with the work and felt that it was a good value for what they charged. I recently had to experiences which I’ve changed everything. I will just stay at the fax without questioning honesty, or competency, or any of that: 1. A gentleman arrived at two of my rental houses, one day apart, and at both he told me that I needed to have large sections of pipe replaced due to broken or corroded pipes. I believe this at the time. But as both tenants were left with the inability to use water/toilet, I wanted to restore things even if temporarily. As Calhoun had no working water jet, and I wanted that done, the Plumber recommended me to call another company, which I did. 2. This company came out and had both lines blocked and stated that they were in fact no breakage or corrosion or anything else that needed to be done. I had perfectly functioning plumbing in both cases in less than an hour. I spent. Nearly $800 with Calhoun for absolutely no improvement in service. In one case, the toilet was left in the hallway even. I spent less than that with another company who was there for less time and everything now works fine. This gentleman also placed a camera in and said there was absolutely no need for any pipe to be replaced. Again, I do not question intentions or competence here, and I will not speak ill of them. I am just laying out the facts. I do not feel that the outcomes described represent good value for money. It may be time to raise the prices and hire more qualified people. The service I received in these two instances was worthless and wrong. UPDATE: Sounds nice, the comment below; but, I called the day before posting this review and related who, what, where, and when. The time for any remorse and offers was THEN.

My favorite plumber in Columbus. They're prompt (and often try to service you earlier than scheduled which is awesome). Reasonable pricing, knowledgeable, and all their plumbers are cool friendly people, the type you'd love to kick back on the porch and have a beer with.

They're literally a stone's throw from my house so I've used them often and have had excellent service every time. Highly recommend.

This is my first opportunity to use Calhoun Plumbing and they definitely earned my loyalty. Called at 8:30. Matt, the very nice and knowledgeable plumber arrived at 11:10. Fixed and out the door in about an hour. I’m grateful for their excellent service.

Calhoun plumbing is reasonably priced, quick to schedule, and Austin was really great to work with. We had a busted hose bib line because of the cold temperatures and his customer service skills were 5-star. They were in and out very pleasant to work with. Will be calling for all our plumbing needs.

Had a possible tree root scare when my sink and shower started backing up and not draining. Called Calhoun and they were able to get someone out in less than a day. Austin did a fantastic job. He was able to get both cleared out (no tree roots, Yay!) and even picked up a few parts to finish the job. I'm very satisfied with the service and would definitely recommend

Called Calhoun Plumbing after hours number concerning a plumbing issue. They scheduled Clayton for next day service call. Want to give a shout out to Clayton. He was excellent. He resolved our issue in a timely manner and even offered to switch out my new washing machine with the old one after he fixed the problem. The whole experience with Calhoun Plumbing was painless. I would recommend using them for any Plumbing needs you may need. Clayton was excellent.

Do not use. Go to Drainmaster. One of the most unethical companies I have ever dealt with. They will try and take as much money from you as possible for work that doesn’t need to be done.

Over the last 3 years, I have contracted Calhoun Plumbing for faucet replacement, water heater installation and leaking pipe repair in my two homes. Here are 3 surprises: 1 - hefty upcharge on parts price, 2 - poor or incomplete quality, and 3 - lack of responses.

    1. Parts Upcharge. I have to agree with another customer's review of Calhoun's hefty upcharge on parts price. An $8.78 SharkBite at Lowe's became $34.77 on Calhoun's invoice. Two pieces of clip tie became $5.00 on Calhoun's invoice. When I called Max, the service rep, no one ever called back. You be the judge. Is this sort of Upcharge reasonable? Is it fair for a Plumber to bill you for the "time" they had to travel to a hardware store to get parts that they don't have in their truck?

2A. Poor & Incomplete Faucet repair - you be the judge if this faucet work is acceptable. I bought a new faucet to replace an old one. Calhoun's service man decided to repair the old one instead. But after he left, I discovered the faucet became leaking and inoperable. If you look at the attached photos, you will see the faucet is completely out of alignment.

2B - Poor Quality - you be the judge if a water heater is supposed to set up like a Leaning Tower of Pisa. If you look at the photos, you will see the water heater is not straight up aligned to the wall or the furnace. This new water heater was installed over 2 years ago. But when Mike (another Calhoun Service man) and Max came to repair a leaking pipe, Mike, without knowing the water heater was installed by Calhoun, he immediately pointed it out that how wrong the water heater was installed and the water heater indeed was pulling the pipe away. Max told me that he would report the incident when he returned to the office and I would expect a call from Calhoun to discuss how to fix their poor installation and incomplete faucet work. I have not yet received any call.

We had a break in our water line 4 years ago and Calhoun fixed it. We recently had another break and called Calhoun. They told us that the city only lets you fix a water line once and we needed to replace our whole water line. They gave us a quote of $7600. The city came out a few days later and said there are no rules about how many times you can fix a water line and we can fix it as many times as we want without replacing it. A water line fix is significantly cheaper than replacing the whole line. Calhoun is not the trustworthy company I thought they were.

Last year Calhoun plumbing was paid by the seller of a home that I purchased to repair damage from a copper thief that included inside and damage outside where the thief tried to shutoff the water main. It was a nightmare trying to get them to finish the job that the seller already paid them in full to do. Excuse after excuse as days turned into weeks and then into months. I Just called them to get a quote for another job and Calhoun Plumbing wanted $8600 to do the same job that everyone else would do for about $5200. No way I will ever use this company again.

I woke up this morning only to find I had no hot water. When I went to check the water heater, I saw water coming out of the top and into the pan beneath - the tank had ruptured. I immediately called Calhoun Plumbing and asked for a new water heater to be installed. They were able to get me on their schedule during the afternoon hours.

The technicians showed up early and got straight to work. They were careful bringing the tools and new tank into the basement area. They drained the old tank, disconnected it, transferred over the piping connections, then tested to make sure the new water heater was running properly. This time I got an expansion tank, which I should have had with the previous heater.

Within half a day, I had a brand new, highly functional water heater thanks to the Calhoun team. The crew was courteous, efficient, and left my home just as clean as when they arrived. I’d recommend them to anyone needing plumbing assistance - absolutely outstanding service.

Several years ago these guys did a wonderful job replacing my water heater. Couple years later, they did well in fixing a kitchen drain leak. In July 2025, I called and scheduled to have a toilet and exterior spigot replaced. Then they no showed and no attempt to follow up with me. When I called to reschedule they talked me up apologized and said the truck broke down. After a 2nd attempt to schedule, still no show, no call. Not sure why, but was very disappointed that my go to Plumber has lost my business. I guess they don't need the work or are too dishonest to inform callers they don't perform certain jobs. Either way, it was a waste of time & effort and so sad to see a local family business being run by incompetent liars.

Calhoun is awesome. I had a root ball in my outgoing sewer line that was sporadically backing water up into my basement. They scheduled me for the very next day. Eric and Will came out and had the water flowing in less than an hour, with plenty of advice on how to take care of other issues I’m having in my 100 year old home. They’re my go-to from now on.

Our Technician came out due to a non-stop running Sump Pump.

He was in and out in an hour and even showed us how it operated in case we ever needed to test our battery backup system, etc.

Oh, they were also right on time when they said they'd be there (30mins window).

    Highly recommend H&M!
