Modern Environment designed and executed a beautiful landscape for the yard at our new home. Their attention to detail, ability to select the right plants and quality of their crews made it a totally great experience. They also maintain our landscape and we couldn’t be happier with the quality and care.

I really enjoyed working with Modern Environment. They were able to take my vision for my home and create a stunning backyard and front entryway. I get so many compliments from neighbors and friends! Couldn’t be happier that I chose them for this project! I couldn’t recommend them enough for anyone who wanting to update their home!

I had Modern Environment bid a job to landscape my yard front and back, including retaining wall, fence, turf for a portion of back yard, some irrigation and pool deck extension. During my initial meeting with Clark, I showed him pictures, explained the scope of work, and invited him to use his experience to make our ideas better where needed. He came back with digital images of what the space could look like, I made a few additions, he made suggestions, and a week later I had new renditions and pricing. The company has been in business 25 years and I wanted a turnkey job. The guys that worked on the project were great. Super nice and very professional. They clarified a few questions before doing certain parts of the project to make sure they had it how I wanted. Short story long, this company has done everything they promised, in a timely manner, and the yard looks great. They didn't nickel and dime me for little changes (shape of beds, plantings, add a light) and every consumer appreciates that! The yard looks better than I imagined and right on price! I have gone back and asked to add an additional bed that I could not have foreseen and it was my first change order of the job. I think as a consumer, the key was communication. I highly recommend Modern Environment! Give my number for anyone needing a recommendation.

Modern Environment did a PHENOMENAL job on our landscaping! We hired them to redo our front landscaping and their work was so impeccable that we then hired them to do our backyard landscaping around our new pool and fire pit. The jobs also included expanding our sprinkler system, correcting mistakes in what was already there, and installing a new controller. They also laid a good amount of sod in our back yard. I was incredibly impressed by their attention to detail and the level of communication I received from them. We get comments on the beauty of their work every time someone comes to our house. We asked for plants and trees that are low maintenance and native to the area, and the project manager, Jake, came up with a creative, spectacular design, which was executed with precision by his team. It is incredibly difficult these days to find a contractor who will finish promptly, communicate effectively and won’t cut corners, so Modern Environment was the pleasantest of surprises. We WILL be return customers!

I would give them 6 stars if I could. We met Jake at the OKC garden show. We wanted an outdoor kitchen and Jake came to our home and gave us a bid. He gave us the exact cost, time frame and materials. They got our exact same brick and it went exactly as scheduled. Jake made sure we knew when someone would arrive and even helped us with a few more items we decided to add. I HIGHLY recommend Modern Environment for all your outdoor needs!

We’re so thankful to have found them!

I hired modern environment to do my landscape. Jake and his crew were very professional and did an amazing job. I wanted low maintenance backyard. They did artificial turf and some desert plant. In one week they turn my backyard from pile of dirt to an amazing space. I'm very happy and will hire them again in future to do my front yard. Thank you.

The security here is very anti service dog. Every time I try to shop here with mine I get told she's fake and there's nothing I can show them that will prove she's a real service dog. They also told my boyfriend that his handicap plate does not count and threatened to tow his car and have it encountered. I recommend going to the on by Penn Square mall.

I absolutely recommend redroots! Shiloh is amazing and her team did above and beyond what I expected! I was able to be a part of the process and get exactly what I was asking for!

I would rate this lower if possible. Shilo and her crew are useless and unprofessional. We had a sprinkler system installed a year ago. When they installed it, it was months (yes months) over schedule, wasn’t what we discussed, and was generally bad. At that point we were just ready to pay them and never work with them again.
Now this year, the system won’t start and anyone competent that’s looked at it has said it’s wired and installed in such a confusing, haphazard way that repairing it is impossible. So I’ve wasted several service call fees and tried to get Shiloh to come look at it but it’s just more shoddy communication, incompetence, and reassuring lies.
Do yourself a favor and go with literally anyone else. -
We initially hired Red Roots to design our front flower bed, and they did a great job with perennials that have flourished over the past 2 years. If that was the only thing we hired them for, we'd be rating them much higher.
We had them come back to do a French drain to mitigate flooding in our backyard. We explained where we wanted the drain to go based on where the water was collecting. They only placed a fraction of what we requested, without communicating why until after they were done with the job. They also said it was impossible to route the drain to the street as we initially requested, and placed a drain on the front lawn, again only letting us know after the job was done. They assured us it would work fine, but we still have water collection problems in our backyard, and water floods into our neighbor's yard during heavy rains.
Following this, we hired them for a couple sprinkler repair jobs. Each time there was a $150 call charge, even though the 2nd time they were unable to ascertain the source of the problem. They blamed the original installers for a shoddy job, and said the only way they could fix the issue we were having was with a complete reconfiguration of the sprinkler system, costing nearly $1k. We called another company, who found and fixed the issue (faulty valve, pictured) in under an hour.
If you hire Red Roots, be proactive in explaining your intent for the job, closely supervise their team while they work, and hold them accountable for any unexplained deviations. And maybe call someone else if you need anything other than traditional landscaping. -
Surprise charges, shoddy work, and dishonesty
We hired Shiloh and her team to redo our flower beds in our front yard and back yard. We were quoted $4,750 for phase 1, which included weeding and cleanup, laying new weed cloth and mulch, moving a few plants, and replacing ~90 foot of stone edging around our back yard flower bed. We paid half of the cost up front and agreed to pay the second half when the job was finished. Phase 2 was to include planting new plants. The entire job was supposed to take about a week, but ended up taking several months to "finish". As you'll see below, it was never actually completed.
From the start, the communication was poor and/or deceptive. Despite telling us during our initial walkthrough that she could easily switch the places of our boxwoods and hostas in the front flower bed, once we cut the first check, suddenly the hostas couldn't be moved. Without any communication at all, our boxwoods were moved to the backyard and our front flower bed was left bare. (We were told we'd need to buy new plants for the front, despite what we'd previously discussed.)
Despite paying for the old weed cloth and mulch to be removed and replaced with new weed cloth and mulch, we found that Shiloh and her team had simply sprinkled a bit of mulch throughout the front flower beds. About half of the surface area of the beds still had old black mulch and the other half was new red mulch in an apparent attempt to save money. We had to basically argue with Shiloh to get them to fix this, and even then she never completely did. As you can see from the photo, there are still areas of the front flower beds that are bare; no weed liner or new mulch.
In the backyard, it was even worse. We paid $750 (of the $4,750) to have our stone edging replaced. We agreed that they'd remove the old edging and lay the new edging beside it to narrow the flower beds a bit. We specifically discussed how they need to make sure the old bricks at the surface are removed, which they agreed to do. Yet, when the job was "finished", virtually the entire path of the old edging had bricks sticking out above the surface.
About halfway through the replacement of the edging, Shiloh let us know that we'd need to pay an additional $450 because she "misunderstood" how much of the edging we wanted to be replaced. According to Shiloh, we only asked them to replace one ~10 foot corner. If that's the case, why did they replace the full ~90 feet? And in what world would someone want to replace only 1/10 of their edging with a completely different kind of stone? And why would the ~10 foot part of the job cost $750, but the remaining ~80 feet cost only $450? It was clearly just an excuse because they mis-budgeted.
There are several other issues, such as lack of mortar between some of the stones, several feet of gaps in weed cloth in the backyard, and very apparent skimping on mulch.
Once the job was "finished", we did a walk through with Shiloh and pointed out all of these issues, which you'd think would be pretty easy fixes for her team. She agreed to fix the issues and asked for the check for the second half of the $4,750. We should have waited until the job was actually completed, but we gave in and wrote the check, assuming Shiloh was good for her word.
Obviously, she was not. Despite several follow-up texts, Shiloh has completely ignored us and months later the shoddy work they did sits unfinished. We've hired another company to fix their shoddy work and plant new trees and bushes. -
Patriot does an excellent job in mowing and edging our lawn. They take pride in their work! They also clean the leaves after our huge oak tree drops it's leaves in the fall. Always great work!
