Reviews of local pros in Damascus, Oregon

Jake did a fantastic job with my property. My family and I just moved to town and he was referred to help us refortify our fence (which was halfway broken down throughout 4 acres) as well as remove and burn some trees we needed taken down due to beetles. He did such a great job in a timely manner that I decided to hire him to install a new Hotwire fencing system and a complete deck replacement. He and his partners are professional and kept us informed along the way. I highly recommend him if you need work done on your home or property.

Jake did a major work for me completely removing my old and very large swimming pool. He did a fantastic job and I was totally impressed. He charged less than half the lowest quote I had from other companies. He was fast, showed up every day and the work quality was excellent. He did more work for me including replacing sagging deck posts and cutting the rain exposed beam ends. He is a very nice guy and very fair when it comes to pricing. I highly recommend him for your home projects.

I hired Jake to help with the remodel of a daylight basement that was not getting enough daylight. The main exposed wall faces north and originally had just an old sliding patio door and a 3x3 window. It was reengineered to accommodate 115 square feet of glass. In addition to the new installations he replaced eight other windows in the house. Jake proofed to be generous with his time, ideas and resources. He also helped with the expansion of a wet bar into a kitchen. His crew was both skilled and courteous. The project has been a great success and I look forward to having Jake oversee my deck replacement.

Jake and his crew helped us get my brother's home and 4-acre property ready for sale. He's very knowledgeable and competent in every area of property development. The fact that he's personable, responsive, a clear communicator, and an expert problem solver makes him a delight to work with. He met our needs in a timely manner and stayed within our budget. His crew and the many subs he uses are all skilled and efficient craftsmen. We highly recommend J. Leahy Construction for any job, large or small.

I’m so impressed with the landscaping work we had done from Jake at J. Leahy Construction! He cleared out 1.5 acres of blackberries and overgrown bushes quickly and thoroughly. The job was done faster than I expected, with great attention to detail. Jake is a very reliable, professional, who offers fair pricing. If you are considering hiring someone for a project, I would highly recommend him!

J. Leahy Construction helped us with our kitchen, living area, stairwell remodel last year. Jake & crew were all great to work with. We were very happy. Thank you Jake!

We had an outstanding experience working with J Leahy and team from start to finish. The team delivered exactly what they promised—on schedule, on budget, and with exceptional quality. Their thoughtful co-design approach and collaborative mindset made the entire process both smooth and enjoyable. They truly listened, offered smart guidance, and worked with us to refine the details in ways that elevated the final result.

Their quality control was evident at every stage, and their strong, long-standing relationships with subcontractors clearly paid off. Everyone who came onsite was professional, coordinated, and committed to doing the job right, which created a seamless workflow and a consistently high standard of craftsmanship.

Overall, this was a truly exceptional customer experience. The combination of professionalism, collaboration, and high-quality execution resulted in a finished product that exceeded our expectations. I would enthusiastically recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, skilled, and customer-focused contractors.

Jake and his crew did a great job for us. He completely remodeled our kitchen and added a breakfast nook. Everything was done on time and on budget and the craftsmanship is excellent. Would absolutely use him again and highly recommend him!

We have used J. Leahy Construction for a number of projects around our property. First we had them excavate our backyard in preparation for retaining walls. Then we had them build a catio for us and built a Trex deck as well as replace our fence. They also built us 2 gates. We have found Jake to be extremely reliable, friendly and very professional. I highly recommend him for any projects, big or small.

We went with J. Leahy Construction to finish a daylight basement bedroom that the previous owners started but never finished. Scott came out for a quote and was very responsive and helpful, and we quickly decided to go with him and Jake. They had the best price but also seemed genuinely interested in the project and eager to help. They set a schedule (and stuck with it!) and were very communicative throughout the entire process. We've had some less than ideal contractors before, but these guys were great. We never once felt in the dark about anything, and they were very helpful and thorough if we had any questions.
Now we have a beautiful new bedroom for our oldest son, and he loves having his own space. We will for sure use J. Leahy Construction again and would recommend to anyone.

J. Leahy Construction remodeled our kitchen, installed hardwood flooring, as well as tile, and replaced our front door and garden window. Jake, Scott (the project manager), and the crew did an excellent job from start to finish. Jake's ability to think outside the box turned potential challenges into even greater update opportunities. We couldn't be more pleased, and are mentally lining up other home remodeling projects for them to address!

We have used J. Leahy Construction for a number of major projects and could not be happier with the results. Jake is a true artist and an extremely creative problem solver, and all of his work reflects this. It is to his credit that so many passers-by of our home remark about how incredible it looks. As an added bonus, Jake is an exceptional person to deal with. He works incredibly hard and is just an overall great guy — as is his crew.

We hired Jake Leahy of J. Leahy Construction last year to install several floor-to-ceiling windows and large sliding patio doors, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. Jake took extraordinary care during the planning phase—measuring and re-measuring each opening in consultation with the window supplier’s representative. He proactively accounted for every detail connected to our broader remodel, including drywall returns, interior floor and exterior deck heights, and the irregular rough openings from our 60-year-old windows and doors.

I was thoroughly impressed by Jake’s ability to analyze the structure, anticipate challenges, and determine precisely how each opening needed to be modified. When installation time arrived, Jake and his assistant Jake (easy names to remember!) demonstrated outstanding craftsmanship and care in removing the old materials and installing the new units correctly and cleanly.

We were so happy with Jake’s work that we immediately asked him to help with other parts of our remodel, and by the end of the year he had completed numerous additional projects for us. These included building a brand-new walk-in shower with beautifully detailed tile work, tiling the remainder of the bathroom and closet (and even a hidden trap door), installing our vanity, and routing a return-air vent cleanly through the cabinetry. The results were gorgeous.

Jake also installed a custom fireplace mantel, tiled our exterior walkway between the house and garage, finished an exposed glulam beam with wood flooring for a truly bespoke look, and installed two pocket doors with flawless execution.

Needless to say, Jake Leahy is now our go-to contractor for all carpentry, tile, and window work. He is an expert in his craft and treats every project—and every home—with diligence, care, and an attention to detail that is increasingly rare. There is no one I recommend more highly for home renovation work of any kind. He is simply that good.

Great company

Very professional people very professional work

Great to work with, Alberto and crew are punctual and pleasant - high level of professionalism 👍

Valley View Landworks has done many projects for my business and home. Appreciate the quality of service and Dan's crew was outstanding.

WE have been trying to contact them to pay us for work done back in 2104, they will not answer my calls or emails. How reputable is a company who doesn't pay their vendors for services rendered?

Great company! They came out to our property to remove some trees, shrubs and also do some limbing for us. Quality work, cleaned up after the mess and we would highly recommend.

I was referred to VVLW by another company in the business. The work I needed done did not fit within the scope of what VVLW does, but Tim helped me out with professionalism that made me feel like one of their biggest customers. If they do this for a person who does not actually give them any business, they must be incredible for a real customer. Thank you Tim!

Excellent crew and work!!! The weekly crew made it look just the way we asked for each week. The shrubs I asked to be removed and wanted them replaced with plants and a new design with barkdust. We Love the design, colors, plants and look. Thank you for taking such GREAT care of our landscape and weekly maintenance. You ALL are wonderful and a 5 star business!
