Overall mixed feelings. The installation of a new power cable for an external AC unit and new lightbulb switch were installed great. However we were the first appointment of the day and each time the technician came he was hours late and would message us to to continually push back the appointment hours at a time. He didn't have another appointment before ours he was just not in timely.

So basically give yourself all day if working with them.

We had Neko stop by a couple days ago and fixed our issue fairly quickly. He was very professional and knowledgeable. I thought it was super affordable, though it was a pretty short amount of time. The problem reoccurred and they came back out the same day as and fixed the issue with no extra charge. That's commitment. They have my business going forward.

Great service! The tech was early and worked quickly. Easily identified and fixed the problem with our outlets. This is the second time Murphy electric has done work from us and we will be calling them should we need their service in the future.

Murphy originally had to cancel my appointment scheduled for Black Friday because of the technician’s truck issues (I was already off from work). I had scheduled the 1/2 day package deal. They called me back later that day and said they could send someone out on Sunday. Perfect. Randy kept me appraised of his ETA. He was able to install 3 light fixtures and a transformer for low-voltage landscape lighting. Plus, he took a look at a ceiling fan installed by a competitor but, unfortunately, it was a motor issue, not an installation issue. Very happy with my experience, and the new lights look great.

(2023) The first appointment was amazing in terms of speed, quality, communication, and care (terminating and removing old range wires from the 2nd floor kitchen). He also repaired an outlet for free, but the outlet died within hours of him leaving somehow. That didn't really bother me because the outlet and the circuit it was on was getting replaced a week later anyways.

The following 2 appointments we hired him for were just horrendous, though.
It was as if he relapsed on whatever drugs he used to do: Super frenetic/antsy and sloppy, causing a lot of unnecessary mess and damage in the process, poor communication, little self awareness, and charging me extra money for the extra time he spent *reluctantly* going back over his own work to right the really blatant mistakes he made in the process (incorrect wiring of lights/fans to switches that were previously correct, not correctly hooking the ducting up to a fan**, the fan not working properly after install**, warranty-voiding new fan install**, overcutting ceiling drywall for every bathroom fan install by *a lot* **, leaving the junction box he installed in my bathroom ceiling to house the wires open/exposed, needing another appointment to come back out to put a box cover on instead of just telling me the spec and letting me just grab one to put on myself, which meant i couldn't use the bathroom safely for several days.)

Then there was work in the kitchen cutting open studs to free wires from them so that we could replace the studs and that was also a nightmare to watch.
I ended up guiding him through the whole damn process as he was shamelessly throwing tools around on freshly redone hardwood floors (which he saw the before:after on as well. Everyone else was accommodative to some degree or another and I covered it with moving blankets and ramboard just in case, but dude just had zero self awareness and was hasty)

Considering he's been in my house multiple times in a 2-3 week window, he also kept failing to remember his own work and general layout/where things were in the house. The reason for having to wait for him to close the box up in the bathroom was because he said he needed to see it to know which one it needed. If he'd known and informed me I'd have closed it up myself days quicker.

I have a full review written with exact details of the work, but i think even the concise version exceeds the character limit.

Needless to say, this was a super high mess/high stress situation after the first appointment. I told my contractor never to hire him for my house again and I'm not gonna call him back out to finish any of the work he started - I'm going with either Young, JLA, or Falcon, who all did much better work numerous times for comparable pricing.

He didn't even get all 3 fans installed in the 5ish hours he spent doing those. The third one is still untouched in the box and I'll just diy it later so that it can be done cleanly. That's what I get for being lazy and hiring what would have been affordably priced help 🤷‍♂️

    Electrician's name was james iirc

**: He didn't fix these and I didn't request him to return - I'm either DIYing or having someone who knows what they're doing fix that for me later. In the meantime I sealed up the additional ceiling cutouts so that the bathroom moisture wouldn't get in the attic and cause bigger problems.

admittedly we had some VERY bad experiences with trying to solve electrical stuff at our new home in Old Town, so we were fired up when Murphy Family Services sent Eric to our home on less than 24 hours notice--and he fixed things that NO ONE else had been able to troubleshoot. their website is intuitive and simple, you can book your service very quickly, you immediately receive texts and e mails confirming timing, then folks call as well, so there's the personal touch. could not be happier--two fixtures that were faulty work for the first time AND Eric installed four outdoor fixtures perfectly TOO!

Murphy's family electric was recommended by my neighbor after I mentioned to her that I have been trying for 6 months to get an electrician out to my house. They were available within the week, their prices are transparent and on the website, they communicated prior to the visit and came early (with a text!) I had them out to repair a faulty wiring job on a light fixture (works like a dream now) and give an estimate for a hot tub install.

Neko was a so quick, professional and kind. Looking forward to many more years of using Murphys!

I was so impressed with the service and quick responses I received from Murphy Family Electric! The electrician did a really good job, they were available first thing the next morning, arrived in time, and so professional. There was great communication throughout the process and there was no surprise pricing. Booking appointments on their website is so quick and easy!

I was disappointed with a Murphy Electric and will not call this company for any other work in the future. Communications were difficult and ineffective from start to finish. The instructions I provided to the dispatcher (for example: the combination to the lockbox and the specific work that was needed) were not relayed to the electrician so he was clueless when he showed up and consumed billable time calling me to get the same information I provided when I made the appointment. The $300 certificate offered as reimbursement by most other professional electricians affiliated with the local Oregon electrician’s trade group was not honored. (Nearly all other Oregon electricians honor the certificate that was available when I arranged the electrical work.) My experience with this company was a bad one so this requested review will probably not be shown to prospective customers.

I had a couple vendors contact me and I had a very difficult EV installation that required about 60 feet of cable run through the house. Rene did a fantastic job and had a great attitude. He cleaned after himself thoroughly which I considered to be the mark of a solid tradesmen. They did not overcharge me for this installation As others who tried to bid attempted to. It was a fair price, But the work was far far superior to fair. So I highly recommend these guys.

I had a bathroom fan that was not working, and it. Appeared that it was not getting power. The electrician sent quickly determined that a gfi had activated causing the problem. He reinstalled the fan, and all good. The billing was adjusted and I was very pleased with the service. A very prompt reply to my request for service, a very knowledgeable electrician who explained the code limited work that could
Be done as I have a very old structure.
I would without any hesitation recommend their services!
Prompt, knowledgeable, personable, and now my go to service provider!

Murphy Family Electric did great work—took care of electrical fixes around the house, wired up my HVAC on the power side, tidied the panel box real nice. On time, thorough, fair price. I'd hire them again, definitely recommend to a friend.

Murphy Family Electric is now my go-to electrician choice! I've had them over twice for light installations. Both times the technician, Ted, was on time, prepared, polite and efficient. I appreciate the ease of scheduling online. Having been floored by sticker shock from other electrical companies, I especially appreciate Murphy Family Electricity's reasonable charges and transparent estimations. As the head of our HOA, I have put Murphy on our authorized vendor list for homeowners.

These guys do amazing work at an affordable price. Had them add new lights for my house and it took them less than a day. Prices can’t be beat and the quality is top notch.

Like any great professional, Adrian from Unity Electrical quickly solved a difficult diagnostic problem that had my basement in darkness. The fee for the diagnostic was as much as a lawyers hourly rate, but it was so helpful I considered the work a good value. Both electrician who came to my house, and the phone staff were very pleasant.

I worked with Colby, and he was terrific. He listened and understood the task, discussed why the issue was occurring, and suggested options for addressing it. His troubleshooting found all of the issues I was dealing with, and he solved everything necessary to make my light installation exactly as I had envisioned it. I couldn't be happier!

These folks are extremely knowledgeable, very responsive, have great communication, are honest, ethical and truly a pleasure to work with! It’s hard to find service providers who go above and beyond their obligations and truly do what they say they are going to do, I promise you, Unity Electrical Services is exactly what I have described in this review!!!
