Jesus was professional, personable, and extremely helpful in his inspection of our chimney and older gas insert, talking us through options for upgrades to the masonry and the insert. I learned a lot about our existing setup and never felt pressured into a sale.

We just bought a house with a 20+ yr old gas fireplace that desperately needed some TLC. I want to rave about the technician, Dennis C, because he went above and beyond during the service. Not only did he clean up the fire place so much that the previously cloudy glass is now perfectly clear, but he called numerous companies in search of a part that isn't readily available anymore. He advised on what we could do in the meantime to continue using our fireplace and said he'd be in touch about the part when he can track it down. There are numerous horror stories of companies saying they can't fix something so they can upsell another product for a higher price, but I truly appreciate the genuine honesty and effort Dennis put in.

The Scheduling automated process and clarity of communication was excellent. When staff arrived, they were knowledgeable. We’re prepared to deal with any questions and just did a first straight job very efficiently. I highly recommend these guys.

We use our fireplace a lot during the fall
and winter months so it’s important we have a thorough inspection and cleaning each year. American Chimney and Masonry come through every time. Great communication both prior to work as well as while the work is being done. Dan was very knowledgeable and provided a full report with photos and suggestions. Along with his work at AC&M, he has a background in municipal firefighting, and also uses his fireplace quite a lot so he knows what he’s doing for sure. Super pleasant as well. We highly recommend American Chimney and Masonry for all things fireplace and masonry.

American chimney is great. Dennis is very skilled and helpful. He installed our insert a number of years ago and then came back recently to take care of some maintenance. He showed up exactly at the time he said, did a great job, explained everything and took care of more than I expected.

I will definitely call them back the next time we need chimney work done, and I would enthusiastically suggest you do the same.

We had a great experience with American Chimney. Jesus did a very thorough inspection of our fireplace and he is super personable and efficient. He took great care around our property and communicated each step of the way. He also helped us explore ways to save on costs. The entire is office is very professional.

I had some water coming down my chimney pipe onto the top of my fireplace insert when it rained. Shawn came and inspected the insert as well as the chimney brick, cover, piping, flashing, etc.. He determined that all was needed was more silicone around collar. I really appreciated his courtesy and professionalism as well as being right on time. Also, he never tried to upsell any unneeded services to me.
Update: It turned out that a new chimney cover was necessary for whenever it rained incessantly and was windy (which is often in Portland). So they installed a new stainless steel one that was reasonably priced and superbly installed by Walter and Grafton, who were also very friendly and professional.

In researching chimney repairs we learned obtaining multiple bids is key. Only problem is each inspection can cost hundreds of dollars. Bryan was willing to work with me, understood the challenges of the industry and helped in finding the right company for our project. His communication style was clear, concise and helpful. Ultimately we went a different route and his approach was instrumental in making an informed decision.

Spent time researching chimney companies in our area even though we just needed a safety inspection and cleaning (certified, licensed, accredited). We chose and had a great experience with AC&M! Dan was thorough, knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. The reports with pics included were very helpful. Our old wood stove fireplace insert was no longer safe to use, and Dan gave us options to fix that problem. After approving a very reasonable estimate, they removed it and cleaned that area two days after the original inspection (no mess left behind either). Communication by phone and email was wonderful also. Would highly recommend this company, and will definitely have them return again!

We have long been fans of American Chimney. They are always friendly, punctual, professional, and go above and beyond to be helpful. They call afterwards to make sure all is okay. They did an excellent job repairing our chimney, and cleaning it every year or two. The last few times, Jesus has done an outstanding job—bringing his sparkling personality along to boot!

Had Dan come out for an inspection and to talk about installing a pellet stove. He was very friendly and knowledgeable, and when I had a specific stove in mind that he wasnt familiar with, he did some research to make sure everything would still work with the space and chimney I already had. All in all, it was a great experience and very capable staff that I happily would recommend to anyone.

American Chimney & Masonry was helpful. Their website had pictures of others that had my exact problem so I called them. The office staff was nice and knowledgeable. Dan called and came out as scheduled to investigate our fireplace problem. He took many pictures and will give us an estimate on the solution.

Very happy with the Chimney inspection and cleaning we had today from American Chimney & Masonry. Their inspection pointed out issues with my chimney top and flashing that others had missed and their cleaning was thorough and well worth the very competitive cost. During our search for a reputable chimney cleaning service we found several with a similar sounding name but who were uninsured and unlicensed in Oregon. Save yourself the trouble of investigating all that and hire AMERICAN CHIMNEY & MASONARY. Fully licensed and insured in Oregon (worker's comp too!) and they do a fantastic job. Our technician Jesus was super personable, skilled and efficient. Great respect for our property inside and out, excellent communication throughout the entire process from the first phone call on and a prompt on-time arrival. These guys are the real deal. So happy I found them. We heat with wood all winter long and are confident now that we're doing so safely.

Experts in their field, polite & respectful of property. Their work is topnotch. I have had multiple cleanings & inspections with their team ( Jesus is stellar!). They rebuilt my chimney with exceptional craftmanship, maintaining the character & pattern of the original brickwork.
