Chad the business owner is a class act! A true outlier in the tree service business. His crews have such a high attention to detail and care for the property and landscaping. The work they do is dangerous but I can tell they do alot of safety training. There standard operating procedures are truly amazing and so fun to watch. It attracts so much attention in the neighborhood.
They helped my client remove 4 trees that fell onto her house in the last winter storm. Tree maintenance is a high priority in Portland and often overlooked. Get a certified tree report from him and you will understand everything that should be taken care of on the trees on your property.

We have worked with Honl Tree at our house numerous times, and have always been pleased with their professionalism, courtesy, and patience as we discuss and go over the nuances of large and small tree trimming, pests and blights, and the “best way” to tackle whatever needs to be done. They have also come out on weekends to do estimates, and Michael their scheduler is a gem at making sure you’re ready for when they’re going to arrive. Don’t get discouraged if their next opening is a bit in the future because we have found it’s worth the wait.

From our first reach-out to HonL for tree shaping services to the completion of the project we knew what and when the work would be done, and felt very much in the loop. Every employee was friendly and respectful…..even on a rainy day! Communication is a primary factor in contracting and is so very important to us and HonL gets an A+++. A quick story to illustrate:

The Honl Tree Care crew did an excellent job on a huge tree in our yard --- but there was a minor mishap (a paving stone was accidentally broken).
The crew chief informed me immediately, said that I'd have a choice of discount, or having the stone replaced.
I opted for replacement.
Within a day, the owner himself got a nice replacement stone, and then installed it himself --- as skillfully as a pro mason or landscaper would do.
Looks as good or better than the original!

We were completely satisfied with the work performed by the Honl team, even beyond expectations. We had several trees needing significant pruning and thinning. Honl's estimate was very reasonable. They arrived and started on time, worked very efficiently, and cleaned up thoroughly after the job was completed. They brought us into any decisions about how much should be trimmed. We would hire them in future for sure!

Fabulous job heavily pruning my neighbor's huge laurel, which had grown far over the fence line into my yard. Arborists couldn't have been nicer or more efficient. Great cleanup, too. This is the second time Honl has helped me--highly recommend!

Honl has been pruning our big trees for several years. This year they pruned most of the shrubs and small trees as well. They did such a good job. We are getting older now and really appreciate the excellent work they did, better than our own work. So happy.

Responding to a frontdoor flyer, I received a quick estimate at a reasonable price and a final job completed ahead of schedule. The cut crew was very professional and fun to deal with during the job and subsequent clean-up, allowing me to safely observe and banter. All in all, a fine 5-star experience.

Tommy, Dominic and Isaiah showed up right on time to orchard trim our senior cherry tree on hospice! There might be a couple more years of cherry blossoms and a few cherries before the crows get them yet. Crew was friendly, talented, and lucky for them,they had the bucket truck. Both trees came out great. Our Italian plum tree will be a lot happier now with all of its vertical branches cut off. Highly recommend. The owner, Chad, was wonderful when he came out to talk with us and give an estimate. Genuine, caring and really dedicated to his work and understanding of trees.

Great service!! First, together we did a walk-through to confirm the instructions; second, they were quick and skilled in chosing limbs to eliminate to meet my goals while supporting the needs of the trees; and third, together we did a final walk though with everything cleaned up.

We've had Honl Tree Care come to our home for the last several years for annual pruning and tree care. They always do a very good job. The workers walk you through the process they will be using, and I appreciate that the health of the tree is a priority for them. They explain what they will and won't cut, and why, always from the standpoint of the tree's health. We live in an area that is sorely lacking in tree cover, so I appreciate the attention to keeping as many branches on the trees as possible. The crews always do a good job cleaning up the site, and working around the neighbors. We'll see them again next year!

I chose Honl Tree Care Inc on the recommendation of a neighbor, who said they were very professional, thorough in their work, and fast, as well as just very nice people to work with. His opinion of Honl and their employees was and indeed is, spot on! The crew arrived early, got promptly to work on the tree in question, and did a very professional, thorough job on lifting up the canopy and cleaning it out of unnecessary elements. They were very careful with their own selves re safety, and surrounding element of my property (fence, grounds), and very, very quick in their work. Too, they cleaned up the site thoroughly prior to departure. The crew and their boss are very pleasant to work with and I will not hesitate to use them again as needed and to recommend them to one and all who need professional tree services. Very happy and satisfied with the service from Honl tree care. I have two trees, one a pink dogwood and the other a red maple. I need them cut back about 5 feet and trimmed up, old dead branches removed. Scott and Andy did a great job and cleaned up all the trimmings. I highly recommend the tree service

Came out for an inspection within a couple days of calling, gave us a straightforward explanation and estimate of what needed to be done.

Because we had a relatively simple job, they were able to weave us in to their schedule and take care of us within a week of the estimate.

Had the job been bigger, there was full transparency that their schedule was a couple weeks out.

Professional and considerate of neighboring properties, the price quoted was the price charged, we will reach out again in the future!

I moved into a house with a tree that had been planted much too close to a retaining wall and fence. I decided to remove it before it did any more damage to the wall and I'm so happy I chose Honl Tree Care. They came out to do an estimate and very quickly sent me a quote. The office staff was friendly and easy to talk to, and had no problem with me sending a family member to be on site for the tree removal when I couldn't take the time off work.
I opted for Honl to haul away all the wood and they did a fantastic clean-up. They've also done great work for my parents in the past. Highly recommended.
