The Discerning Beaver crew did an excellent job trimming back high branches in tall firs to create a fire buffer near the house. Their attention to safety was impressive and reassuring. All heavy branches were lowered slowly on ropes, avoiding damage to the house and fence below. Branches that could be cut into useful firewood were put to the side while all the smaller trimmings were chipped and hauled away, leaving a clean work site at the end of the day. First class.

We have had Valdimir trim our maple tree three times and each time he’s done a magnificent job. Both of the men are very good workers, and easy to talk to very nice people, and very reasonable. I will use them again.

Vladimir and Jesse have been working for me this last year doing fire prevention work on my 10 acre property on Chehalem Mountain. They are the best combination of practical knowledge and spirit filled stewardship. Each decision is made collaboratively. Listening is valued as much as talking. They address the fear I have about fire at the same time as they care for all the ornamental plantings I have invested my heart in. And they teach me about the environmental value of mature, healthy trees. I feel good about the work we have done and will continue with it.

I needed a large cherry tree on my property trimmed to meet Pacific Power requirements after upgrading my meter and panel. Vladimir was very responsive. He fit me into his schedule within the week and then ended up coming 2 days sooner when he finished another job early.

It was important to me that the tree was not impaired in anyway because it is very large and the roots are next to the house foundation. He was got that and not only did he clear the power lines it also looks great. It was not a butcher job that left the tree looking unbalanced.

And the bonus was he took out two other small trees in the way of my garage building project AND all for a competitive price. I would highly recommend Vladimir's service.

Highly skilled team of tree lovers. They took care to carefully cut down a hazardous cottonwood in my garden. Would highly recommend & definitely my go-to for tree service!

We had a large tree fall into our property, narrowly missing our house and blocking the street for neighbor's access. Discerning Beaver sent out an arborist immediately and had the road cleared before the city crew was even dispatched. Over the next two days, Discerning Beaver was able to remove the rest of the fallen tree from our yard, taking great care to protect the plants and shrubs that were not damaged by the tree. Furthermore, they removed the remaining portions of the tree still standing and at risk of falling on our house. All crew were professional, tidy, and communicative. We feel fortunate to have found this company to help us through this ordeal.

This is the 3rd time we have hired Discerning Beaver Urban Forestry to thin and trim our two large maple street trees. The company does high quality work. The owner listens to my input regarding what I want to accomplish and takes into consideration the tree health, aesthetics and fire resilience. He is careful not to damage the landscaping under the trees and does a through cleanup. We find him to be timely, responsive and easy to work with.

Odaya and his team did an excellent job removing a dying street tree in front of our home. He was communicative throughout the process, clearly explaining each step of the removal and even helping us choose a suitable replacement tree. We got several other bids for the job, but Discerning Beaver came in several hundred dollars lower from the start. Interestingly, once we mentioned their quote, other companies quickly offered to match it—but only after the fact, which made us feel like they weren’t offering a fair price upfront. We really appreciated the transparency and professionalism from Odaya and his crew. Highly recommended.
