I am over the moon happy with Ductless By Design. They went out of their way to accommodate us and had wonderful communication with us through the whole process. I highly recommend this business and will be using them again the the furniture.

In April 2022 I began researching ductless systems for my industrial space, and because my local PUD's list of qualified contractors included Ductless-By-Design, I began working with Andrew to schedule site visits, he helped me learn about the process to apply for rebates, and after over a year of planning, budgeting and rebate applications, the Daikin system was miraculously installed in a single day by Andrew, Danny, Alex and Reid.

They had to drill two 3" openings 15' feet up a 12" thick concrete wall, they had to run over 20 feet of line to one of the units, and because I'm germ phobic they did all that work wearing booties!!! They took every possible mitigating and clean up measure to minimize the mess, and as someone who studies systems and efficiency, the entire process of watching them work was fascinating.

Talk about transforming my experience of working in this space, it's just indescribable to finally have an appropriate temperature control system - it's all San Diego in here now, 72 with a slight breeze!

Over too-numerous-to-count interactions via text, voice and email, Andrew is kind, professional, perfectly organized and over those many interactions, he was able to hold an enormous amount of data on immediate recall so we could pick up where we left off, even after weeks of delay.

Our house is on a concrete foundation and water was getting into our ducts so we had to find another way to heat/cool our house. We called several companies. Some companies said there wasn't anything they could do, some said they couldn't put ductless through bricks and one wanted to charge almost double the cost of the ductless to put ducts in our ceiling and they wanted to use a very large closet in the hallway to put the system which would have been loud by our bedroom. It's been just over a month and we are very happy with our system so far. Bonus is that we are no longer trying to heat up concrete and water to get heat into our house so the electric bill has lowered a little bit. Very hopeful that summer will be very cool inside with the new system.

Andrew has installed somewhere around 14 ductless systems for us at our rentals. His integrity, knowledge of the system designs impresses Us the most.
There are equipment installers and there are those who take their industry to a level of craftsmanship. Andrew is ductless system artist.

We moved in to our smallish sized home, and when summer hit there were plenty of hot days where our Central A/C would not keep up. The house was designed for heat which is great in the upstairs during winter, but during summer it was just too uncomfortable for sleep and working in the loft.

After getting one quote and lengthy research, we decided on getting mini-splits. We would have had to run more ductwork, and bought a heavier unit otherwise. The ductwork was really dirty requiring expensive cleanup. And we weren’t sure the returns wouldn’t need expansion or addition.

We got another quote from Ductless by Design, and the guy was friendly, courteous, and conscientious. We went with his design recommendations and accepted. When the crew cam over, from A to Z, they were friendly and organized and took care of everything: permitting, electrical, clean up, and even warranty registration.

Phenomenal Daikin Ductless Mini-Split installation by Andrew and his team. Andrew and Danny went above and beyond to ensure we received the best hardware and price in addition to retrofitting the system in an older 1970s home. They explained the process thoroughly with the highest level of professionalism/communication possible. Don't waste your time entertaining other bids, Andrew will be the best price with the best equipment possible (I know because I shopped and researched the market heavily). Brian installed a central air unit and wifi thermostat for our home. Extremely reasonably priced compared to other bids obtained. Brian is knowledgeable about HVAC and does a thorough job. Are last 2 power bills were under $150 using a/c during this very hot summer months. Our job turned out to be a bit complicated because of our attic design, and when the complication meant they had to stay longer than planned, they were still pleasant and meticulous in their work. My thirteen-year-old Fujitsu mini-split finally kicked the bucket this past winter, so I've been researching replacement options for the past several months and considering various contractors. I wasn't getting anywhere when I asked a rabbi I know if he could recommend someone for me. He wholeheartedly recommended Andrew Francis with Ductless By Design. As a Beaverton resident, I wouldn't have considered selecting an installer from Salem, but I'm so glad I did! Andrew worked with me to secure an instant rebate through EnergyTrust of Oregon in order to keep my costs low, and he also offered me a great deal on another discontinued Fujitsu system that he was able to acquire at great savings. Days before my installation, however, Andrew discovered that his distributor had returned all of the head units that could have been paired with the outdoor unit that he was going to sell me, and it would have taken an additional week to obtain another head unit. This was just days before the first heat wave of the season, so I was disappointed by this turn in events. Andrew, though, was willing to upgrade me to the latest Daikin Atmosphera model with the new R-32 refrigerant at no charge, so I agreed. My installation was therefore able to proceed as scheduled. Andrew installed my unit out front while Danny worked on the interior installation. Both did an exceptional job, but it was particularly challenging for Danny since my previous mini-split installation was done improperly. Danny managed to overcome the issues, though, and he did a fantastic job. There was an initial snafu with regards to a low refrigerant warning post-installation, but Danny came out the following day and topped off the refrigerant, and the warning light never came back on. Both Danny and Andrew, however, insisted on coming back out the following Monday to ensure that my refrigerant levels were adequate, in spite of that meaning another two-hour round trip for them. It turns out that Daikin had not pre-charged the outdoor unit with the appropriate amount of refrigerant, causing the issue I had with the warning light.

My new Daikin Atmosphera has been performing like a champ, and I hope to get many years of service from it. Thanks to Andrew and Danny's impeccable installation, I can rest easy knowing that it was done properly. I would not hesitate to recommend their services to anyone else contemplating the purchase of a new mini-split! You can't go wrong with Ductless By Design!!

This is my second time working with Ductless by Design. It was again quiet an experience compared to dealing with other general HVAC contractors. All they do is ductless heat pumps aka mini splits.

A normal homeowner might not think of this as an artistic endeavor, but there is a lot of creativity in running lines in a way that minimizes visual impact and maximizes heating and cooling.

Andrew and crew put a lot of thought into the job and were great communicators and I am very pleased with the result. Mini splits are very efficient. You don't have to pump a lot of air through inefficent ducting and can have separate heat controls in each room to save energy when you're only in certain parts of the house.

Next time I need mini splits, I am calling them again.
