Excellent service. Kevin the technician was professional and polite. He explained everything clearly and correctly diagnosed/fixed our furnace. I would highly recommend!

*How I wish I had read so many other reviews here that say the same thing. They are dishonest. Ironic, the guy who complains about a $50 fee for a "look" --- they charged me $150 for a "look". Shame on you Baker Service*

Not a good first time experience... "The Family You Can Count On" ?
Not very much. "family" that breaks the basic tenets of doing good business. Questionable ethics. Charged $150 for a "looksee"?! of a nonworking treadmill without crediting any portion thereof to a repair. That's steep and not standard for any company operating with integrity.

Double charging then to come out again for a fix. Matt does not follow up as promised. No callback, no comeback, though he promised to do both. Scott was rude and condescending, repeating himself on the phone. Those are Baker boys not caring for customers.

Instead of bragging about sports teams they service, perhaps offering good service to new residential customers would be more impressive and ensure referrals.

They will tell you anything - it might not be true. Like the final agreed upon price, which I had to pay a hefty deposit for (because they don't trust a customer?).... then after Kevin finally came and fixed the treadmill, the price had suddenly changed. UNACCEPTABLE!

I called right away to complain. Heather said she'd made a mistake.
Meaning that Baker Sales and Service, "the family you can count on", hoped I wouldn't notice the "mistake", or remember the agreed upon price, and just pay extra. A lot extra. Sorry. No. That's not being honest.
Nor was it honest to tell me that Matt is the "only one who services pools" and that's why he didn't return to do what he said he would do.

Everyone I talked to just made things (and prices) up as they went along. It cost me nearly as much to fix the treadmill as to buy it new, over $450 for the fix.

Oh and one more big lie --- after the "looksee" and that high cost for virtually nothing , I called the treadmill company (Johnson Fitness) regarding warranty coverage and parts needed. I spoke to Taylor on May 21, 2020.
The next day, Baker told me they could not reach the company yet because Johnson was closed due to the pandemic. I chose not to mention that I had already called and spoken to them the day before, in order to avoid confrontation.

The pandemic did stall the fix for a long while and I do not fault Baker for that delay, only for misrepresenting most everything they said to me.

Maybe they misrepresent and overcharge sports teams too. Leagues have loads of money and bragging about servicing them is meaningless if a company doesn't do what they say they are going to do for the price they promise. I had to pay extra in the end.

Look elsewhere if you want an integrity based company who won't lie to you and won't try to sneak in higher charges at the end, and who won't charge ridiculous double fees for light travel.

    Shame on you Baker.

Baker was able to come and fix my boiler (and restore my heat) with very short notice on one of the coldest days of the year. To put it into perspective, the first place I called said they wouldn't be able to come for 5 days. Justin was friendly and professional, and fixed the problem very quickly. I would definitely recommend Baker and will call them again in the future.

A ‘rant’ (Owner of) Baker Sales & Service?

Instead of being a responsible business owner and returning our call you post that our experience was a rant.
We had to call in a qualified HVAC contractor to fix what your company could not repair.
Not a ‘rant’ Mr Owner; truthful experience.

If there is more to the story; please share. We have copies of the service tickets, happy to post, from your company as well as the company that actually fixed our issue.

Steven was the contractor that came to my house to fix my AC. He was awesome! Answered all of my questions and gave me great pointers on how to care for my AC and furnace. Got my cold air running quickly! Great service from him.

Excellent and timely service. My home warranty contacted them because I was left with no heating on a day with a 8 F temperature. Once they were at the house, it took less than 30 minutes to fix. I highly recommend them!

I had Baker's come out and work on a the A/C at a relative's house. Everything went smooth as silk from talking with the office people to dealing with the knowledgeable technician they sent out. No surprises, and they actually showed up a little sooner after a courtesy call to let us know that they were on their way. The tech had me up and running in short order and my bill was more than reasonable. I'd give them 6 stars if I could. The weather was extremely hot and my family member is up there in age, and when I told the folks at the office, they bent over backwards to accommodate us. They actually had a cancellation and called us to move up our appointment like they said they would. I will use nobody but Baker's for all my A/C issues!!

If there's one thing that I know, family owned companies thrive on word of mouth and reviews such as the ones posted here. This company is most unprofessional establishment you will face. The epitome of people you do not want to touch your home. Do NOT use them for anything A/C or furnace related. Baker left our A/C unit in shambles, our furnace was ruined by them and the thermostat (which they ripped out) that was working, now no longer lights up or receives signal. They refuse to release information about the work they did on our home. They've hung up on us at least 5 times and then won't answer or return our calls - because we were asking too many questions. We've emailed, with no reply back. Be careful with this company. They fabricate information, do not take ownership of what's been done to your home and will leave it in worse condition than it was before. As you can see with the rest of the reviews here, the responses made by Baker to upset customers is of defensive nature and irresponsibility. Be careful. Heed this warning and others on here. We went through home warranty, thus we couldn't pick our own contractor. We now have an A/C unit that is in worse condition, a thermostat that's been ripped out and not replaced by their technician and a furnace that WAS working prior to them touching it, now inoperable.

Called about a leaking pool heater. The company promptly sent someone out who diagnosed the problem and advised on a proper fix. Paid for the diagnostic visit and they told me they'd be in touch with an estimate to fix the problem. Now four weeks later, they don't respond to my calls or emails. The woman who answers they phone just tells me they're working on estimates and you should get it soon. Don't mind if things take a while, but that they can't even return a call or email to explain or provide some estimated timing for at least a cost estimate is pretty bad service. Won't use this company unless absolutely necessary.

Update: Exactly four weeks after diagnosing the problem, and 2 days after posting my initial review, I finally received a response and a quote to fix my issue. So at least they responded. I'll update again if I choose to work with them.

I've had Baker come out to my home about 4 times now. 3 of the times was do to my own negligence of my hot tub. Every time, they have showed up when stated. They gave me an idea of how much the repair would be upfront and were never far off when the work was completed. I wasn't here three of the times, but the tech called me on his way over and when he was finished. He fully explained what the problem was, what the fix was and what the cost was. I now will also use them for any of my household needs that they cover.

You need to stay away from this business if possible. The person answering the phone is not personable or knowledgeable. I hate to leave reviews, but when someone tries to take advantage of you others must know. My pool heater was bad, and we have a home warranty, and called the warranty company, and they referred us to this business. The person who came out was very nice, and helpful. The warranty company would cover up to $1000.00 on the new heater. The heater cost $854.00 online, and understand the company needs money to stay in business , but they informed me total cost would be 1952.08 minus $1000.00 from warranty company so I would owe $952.08. I know I look stupid but far from dumb. I went to pool city got an upgraded Hayward heater installed for $1450.00.

** DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR POOL OPENING/CLOSING SERVICES **
I would like to start by explaining my strong recommendation against using Baker Sales and Services is not because of the original issues I was dissatisfied with during our pool opening but their response to my complaint when contacted. Previous to contacting Baker Sales and Services we had used Alpine Pools for several openings so we were used to a certain level of service. There were a few items that may have been nit picky like my husband was upset they appeared to just shove the safety cover in the bag vs. Alpine Pools rolling it up neatly and tightly giving it a smaller imprint in our shed. We were also used to Alpine Pools starting the process of balancing the pool by putting in the shock type chemicals as part of the opening. At the time of the opening I asked Baker Sales and Services if they put any chemicals in and they told me it was my responsibility because the process should be spread out over like three days. So, I went to the pool store and dealt with the balancing of the chemicals. They did hook our equipment back up and turn it on. There were two o-ring type items that were leaky that needed to be replaced. In the past that had been done the same day but they told me they would call me back with a quote for the parts I needed. When I went up to the pool to check things out I thought I smelled gas. My husband also noticed that two plastic pieces that label the drain pipes were broken off and just left on the ground next to the equipment. My husband urged me to call them up and let them know about the items he wasn’t satisfied about because of course they can’t fix something or do better next time if they aren’t aware. The “service manager” I spoke with was very unprofessional. As I was listing off my items he was barely listening telling me there is no way his guy would have broke those things off…. He’s surprised they told me they don’t put any chemicals in…. Then, he stopped me and basically yelled at me because “all I was doing was being negative about his company. He was a single father… what did I want him to do stay up until 4am after he puts his little kid to bed to worry about my call and see what parts I needed ordered??” I calmly told him I was sorry he felt that was but it was the point of this call to make him aware of the things we were unsatisfied about. About the gas smell he agreed that was concerning and said they are working like crazy right now but obviously that was important enough that he would get someone back out there that night or the next day. He didn’t really offer any other suggestions of how he would make us feel satisfied again. They didn’t call me back about my opening issues or my parts. I contacted the gas company who took a reading and said the heater needed to be shutdown because it wasn’t safe. I had to call Alpine Pools who despite being extremely busy themselves running about 7-10 days out for service calls sent someone out the next day to fix the issue and replace the parts the same day. About three weeks after opening my pool I received a voicemail from Baker Sales and Services telling me my parts were in even though I never received the quote call. I called them back and told the new person on the phone how we were left hanging about our other issues and never received a quote on the parts. He reacted the same way… defensive and barely listening. I started with the issue of smelling the gas. He told me there was no way someone from Baker Sales and Services would have told me they would have come back the next day to check it out, they wouldn’t make a service call that quickly. That is about where I gave up and lost my patience. All companies will make mistakes or might not perform to your expected level of service but if a company reacts this way when provided criticism…DO NOT USE THEM!

I had my furnace tune-up last week and the service was wonderful. After everything was completed, the technician explained everything that he did as well as gave me a few handy tips. For example, he explained how the various vents in my house work and how to maximize heating in my house.

This company doesn’t even deserve a star. Worst customer service ever!! Had to use this company through my home warranty for my hot tub. It took the company three months to find the part that needed replaced. They came to replace it and the hot tub is still not working. My husband called and spoke with the company and they were all nothing but rude and said they wouldn’t be able to come back out for another three weeks and that we had to call the home warranty for them to come back out. Tried to explain that the hot tub still isn’t working due from the lack of them fixing it and received nothing but attitude.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! Save yourself the trouble. We are paying for someone else to come out and fix the hot tub just so we do not have to deal with this company again.

Very responsive, they even called to see if they could come a few days earlier than scheduled to clean my furnace and AC since they had an opening. Kevin was very friendly and helpful, walked me through things to look for to ensure proper maintenance. Have used them a few times now and will call again if the need arises.

Excellent Service. Kevin was very nice and professional and I could tell he was an honest technician who would not sell me something I didnt need and only fix what was needed. Very important in home repair businesses!!!! He did am excellent job. I would highly recommend Baker Sales and Service

I called today after being recommended by a hot tub store. I explained my situation, and the person on the phone was INCREDIBLY unfriendly, unhelpful, and rude. I understand charging a large service fee ($167 for 30 minutes) for the first visit, but if you don’t have the pieces on the truck, I have NEVER had someone charge me the same large service fee for a return visit to install a part. That is unheard of. When I expressed my dismay at the second fee, I was told, basically, deal with it. And other rude things. I said I would call someone else because I felt they were rude and incredibly... couldn’t even get it out because they hung up on me. I was nothing but polite until the very end when I expressed dismay at what I thought was rude behavior (and even then I didn’t yell or swear or anything truly untowards). I find it hard to believe people can run a company while behaving like that. You can change whatever fees you want, but you need to treat customers with respect, even if they respectfully disagree with you. And judging from the other reviews here, I’m not the only one who had a bad taste in their mouth after dealing with Baker.

The tech, Steven, was fantastic. Did a thorough job of cleaning out the furnace and took time to explain everything he did.

I used to work in retail so am am pretty critical when it comes to customer service. I give Steven 100%+ score in everything he did and his interaction with us. He's an excellent representative of Baker Sales & Service.

Home Warranty sent Baker out for a routine AC tune up and check. Chuck was professional, honest and took his time to look at my unit. Upon completion he answered my questions about their fitness repair services. I appreciate his time and attention to meet my needs, answer my questions - and look forward to working with Baker in the future!

I've been using the same Hot Tub Service repair company for the last 15 years and all I can say now is why in the world did I not call Baker. Matt stopped by today to diagnose my problem and was so nice, professional and efficient. The parts will be ordered and repairs made, but I already trust these guys more than my previous hot tub repair service provider. The price seems fair and that is extremely important to me.
