Jared and his crew are outstanding among the many landscapers I have employed. Jared transformed my overgrown and neglected outdoor area into a beautiful outdoor living space. Jared Johnston Landscaping removed six 19 year old giant bushes from a very restricted area and planted new shrubs. They were professional, competent, neat, mannerly and conscientious throughout the job. Jared went above your average contractor in communicating with us throughout the process. We have worked with Jared Johnston Landscaping on both softscape and hardscape projects for our home over the past year and can’t recommend them enough. The projects included tree and shrub design and installation and a slab paver patio installation including a gas firepit and custom-built grill island. Terrific Landscaping Company - Jared Johnston Landscaping! I had looked on Nextdoor to find a landscaper that could help with some overall pruning and possible river rock. I hired Jared Johnston's company and ended up having them do WAY more than that after consulting with Jared. He really knows his stuff and came up with some wonderful ideas to help me with trying to get my yard more low maintenance. Jared is extremely knowledgeable, punctual, fair, and his whole team is very hardworking and professional. They did a beautiful job for me and I can recommend them with full confidence to friends, family, real estate clients and neighbors, and will definitely use them again!

Jared and his team helped us design and then create an awesome backyard experience. We started with a list of "problems" and Jared took us step-by-step through the entire process of designing a solution, choosing boulders and so on.

During the construction, his team was extremely professional, on-time every day, and cleaned up every day (not just when the project was over). The crew was just as much into creating this project as we were and it really showed in the results!

I cannot give a higher recommendation for Jared Johnston landscaping. Jared designed and executed a multi-stage landscaping project to lay a stone patio followed by installation of a running water feature with lighting and planting. He worked with us to make sure the design fit all of our needs. He has the best communication of any contractor I've ever worked with and made sure that we were kept up to speed on the design process and progress during installation. 10000000% Recommend this company for all your landscaping needs!! Have been using JJ Landscaping the last 2 years for my yard, and all my landscaping needs! On my street alone in our neighborhood there 6 different houses that use them, and it’s clear as day why that is the case!! Jared and his team are the absolute BEST!! I couldn’t be happier with how awesome my yard looks! I receive compliments from all my neighbors and family about it! They work quick and do everything to the highest possible standards! I am so lucky to be on their schedule yearly! I’ll never use another landscaping company in my life again if it isn’t JJ Landscaping!!!

My pictures just don’t fully capture the beautiful new evergreen landscape that Jared and his wonderful team put together. Jared and I worked collaboratively for a while before the work on the evergreen screen started. I brought in my ideas and explained what I wanted and Jared responded with his own ideas. Eventually, Jared created an amazing evergreen screen with perennials scattered among the trees that looks absolutely stunning! Jared even helped us out when we realized a redbud had been damaged and we were going to have to quickly replace it. Jared got right out that day and got a new tree and fit it into the plan beautifully. Our garden bed was such a mess before and now it looks like it came out of a magazine. I call it my own personal botanical gardens.
Jared is passionate about his work and it shows and his team are excellent at taking their time and making sure every detail is thought of, quite literally, no stone left unturned. :). There were no messes left, all was clean and they replanted grass seed where necessary. They worked very hard in the heat to make sure things looked perfect. Jared is also very responsive. Whenever I had a thought/question, Jared responded either immediately or soon after.

I highly recommend Jared and his team. If you look at his pictures and reviews, you’ll see why he is so busy!

I recently had the pleasure of working with a Jared who provided hard scape and landscaping services for my property. Not only was Jared a very nice person to work with, but the quality of their work was outstanding. The attention to detail and precision was noticeable - the workers were really top notch! And, they were very considerate of my property and surroundings, cleaning up as they worked. I was extremely happy with the final result, and feel that my property looks absolutely amazing now. I would highly recommend this Jared to anyone looking for excellent landscaping services provided by highly professional and attentive employees.

I met Jared in Spring/Summer of 2022 after I had been reaching out to several landscapers in desperation. My house is in a bowl, & did not have proper drainage in place to keep it from flooding whenever we had our massive downpours during that season. As a new homeowner, I was in panic because this was not documented anywhere on my inspections or disclosures. Jared came in, saw the problem areas, & took the challenge head on - while also informing me that this may not solve the problem.

Jared & his team started working on my property July 2023, after having to jump through a series of hurdles. He remained professional through each interaction with my neighbors as well as with me. The project itself took around 3-4 weeks to complete, with a few unexpected hiccups along the way. At each hiccup, Jared would call & make sure that I was fully informed with what was happening on my property (spoiler: found a secret septic tank that was not connected to anything).

Jared was open to what my wishes were for plants, while also making sure that we put in water hardy specimens so that they would help with the drainage. Jared & his team are full of integrity, solid work ethic, & creativity. Jared did not run away from the several challenges he faced on my property, & instead faced them head on without fear.

I am incredibly grateful for Jared & his team, for the work they have done, as well as for giving me peace of mind whenever the huge storms hit. Out of all the massive storms we have had so far this year, my house has remained completely dry! & now I have a beautiful outdoor space that I can enjoy & escape to on the weekends.

Jared and his crew were happy to take on a large and difficult hillside landscape job. Jared's design was excellent and needed very little adjustment, although he was very responsive to questions and feedback. The crew was polite, quiet, professional, and very good at what they do. The surrounding site was kept tidy during work and left in excellent condition at completion. Material/plant quality looks very good with healthy plants, nice looking boulders, and finely shredded mulch installed. Post-install support has been good as well. Jared and the crew will be back for more work in the near future.

Update Sept 2024: More projects completed. We like Jared a lot and we enjoy having his crew at the house even more.

Jared and his crew were great with the project we planned. He helped us plan every aspect of it and made sure it would be beautiful and sustainable for people who don’t want high-maintenance plants. They removed shrubs, small trees, redid four whole mulch beds with new plants and removed all of the old rubber mulch we had before. The night they finished the project, we had a massive thunderstorm that washed away a lot of our grass seed and they came back to fix it the next day! He also gave us detailed instructions for care going forward to keep it looking beautiful. Highly recommend him and his crew!

We worked with Jared and his team to help us put the finishing touches on our new home construction project in Franklin Park. We could not have been more pleased with Jared's knowledge, professionalism and passion for the work he does for his customers. Jared did a great job of listening to our needs, taking some concepts from photos and making our yard amazing. He selected the perfect trees/plants and strategically placed boulders and steps in all the right places. We were also impressed with how well he appears to treat his employees and each one of them were very friendly over the multiple weeks they were working on our project. After years of fighting our aggressively overgrown back hill, we hired JJ Landscaping to help. The owner, Jared, listened to our wants and needs, provided thoughtful and professional recommendations, and executed the design beautifully with the hard work of his wonderful landscaping team. I especially appreciated Jareds candor with all of my landscaping ideas/questions, his collaboration on my plant-more-native initiative, his regular check-ins/updates, and the seamless business flow (contracts, invoicing, etc.).
