Highly professional, efficient, and well-managed teams! Local Roots Landscaping completely redesigned and transformed our backyard hillside, as well as installing an underdeck concrete patio and creating an accent planting bed. From the outset, Paul and April quickly coordinated the project, while Evan crafted a beautiful and thoughtful blueprint. Will, Adan, and Yonathan then brought the vision to life, skillfully enhancing the hillside with new trees and shrubs. Finally, Josh, CJ, and Jose completed the project with a nicely finished concrete patio. Each team approached their work with great professionalism, attention to detail, and seamless collaboration. Throughout the on-site work, Will, Matt, and Greg maintained clear and timely communication, ensuring we were always informed. We are truly impressed with the amazing service and results delivered by the entire team!

Jason, Leroy, and Dre did an amazing job creating a parking spot in under two days! They even tested it out to make sure it’s perfect.

We enjoyed working with Local Roots for our backyard redesign. Their team was very knowledgeable and professional along each phase of the project. There were a lot of unknowns with our project due to hillside and existing retaining walls, but Local Roots quickly adapted to find a solution and make our project a success. There were many moving parts in our project between excavation, multiple types of retaining walls, artificial turf, sandstone steps, and a custom Trex composite deck. Local Roots made sure each team worked together to ensure the project came together even better than we had hoped! They had many team members involved in our project and they were all great to work with. Special thanks to Rob & Brandon on their great carpentry skills, Greg running project management, Doug who is a master on the excavator, Ken, Matt, Donnie on design, Paul for scoping the project, and Kenneth & Patrick as active owners who were always available to answer questions and consistently checked-in on the project. I would definitely hire Local Roots again for my next project.

The Company does not adhere to standards or take responsibility.
    - During the sales process, we explicitly instructed the company not to prune our recently planted shrubs, plants we had invested thousands of dollars in purchasing, planting, and maintaining. Despite this clear directive, the company’s staff proceeded to prune them according to their so-called “standard procedure”, in an unprofessional way and at an inappropriate time of the year. This resulted in significant damage to the plants. The company failed to respond to multiple phone calls and emails regarding the issue. When they finally replied, they dismissed it as a “misunderstanding” during the sales process and refused to take any accountability for the damage caused.
    - As a result of the above issue and other concerns, I called the company with a clear instruction that no staff member would be allowed to enter the property without my prior approval and until a manager contacted me directly to address the concern. The manager never called. Instead, the company unilaterally canceled the contract without fulfilling their obligations or addressing the prior damage. Despite the cancellation of the contract and my explicit directive that their crew was not allowed on the property, a crew member returned without notice, entered the property, performed unauthorized work, and I subsequently received an invoice for that unauthorized visit.

Kendell, Maynor and Christian did a great job with our lawn care. Very happy with the results.

Make sure you go in with a clear vision of what you want done. They will overcharge for design fees. I paid several thousand dollars in design/planning fees, even before any work was ever started on my backyard. They also had to come to my house twice for measurements, charged for 2 hours even though they were physically present for 1 hour each time, and charged me for both visits which were ultimately redundant. Expect heavy invoice fees and to be overcharged compared to other contractors.

They didn't do landscaping for me, but we're doing a job at Wendy's in Leechburg today, and didn't even stop when I pulled up to place an order. I have allergies as well, so that makes things a lot worse, I complained at the Wendy's window and the girl said that's their normal... well it's rude! Wendy's needs to hire someone else!!

This company is paid by my hoa to do landscaping. Absolutely terrible work. Left stains all over the sidewalks and walkways when they mulched, and never fixed it. They leave clumps of grass all over the street and walkways. The yards are small but the use riding mowers, tire tracks and mud tracks left constantly. Would not recommend. I reached out to their production manager Dominic and that was useless - and today they show up to cut grass in the pouring rain. Do not recommend

Local Roots made our dreams come true by transforming our knotweed covered hillside into a beautiful, usable space in the city. Our project involved significant sloped earthwork, a ton of complex carpentry and beautiful finish work and they executed fantastically. Logan did a excellent job with excavating a few dozen footings down to bedrock. Ronnie, Sean and Craig had the delightful task of building hundreds of square feet of deck at height above grade through the coldest winter in years. No matter how complicated the request the faced, (framing and decking around a recessed hot tub, building a custom fence and gate, rebuilding our old deck sections to match the new ones), they get the job done beautifully!

Local Roots was amazing on my job. It was a difficult and large project but they sunk their teeth into it and wouldn't let go until it was perfectly finished. Permitting and engineering would have made most companies run for the hills or try to cut corners, but they are super professional. ps their crew, equipment and material were top-notch.

I am a extremely satisfied return customer. I have used Local Roots Landscaping for retaining walls, landscaping and, most recently, a huge drainage project and they always do an awesome job!

All of the work crews are extremely professional, hardworking and want to ensure that the job is executed perfectly. They are helpful in answering questions and addressing any concerns.

I have received so many compliments about the work that they have done around my home. I highly recommend them for any of your retaining wall, landscaping or drainage jobs!!

Local Roots was just great. Matt quickly understood what we wanted and made great suggestions on what to plant. Will and Brian did an amazing job installing a bamboo barrier and planting new plants in our patio. They were extremely organized, friendly, and a pleasure to work with. We were really impressed with their attention to detail. They left our patio in perfect condition and much cleaner than when they started. They even set aside for us a pair of 100-year old bottles they found while digging to install the bamboo barrier . We'd be happy to work with them and the Local Roots team again.

This crew knocked it out of the park. We had them install a 400 square foot patio with a step and two pergolas. We’re incredibly happy with the work. They were fast, responsive, courteous and have a keen attention to detail. Nick, John, Shawn and the rest of the crew exceeded our expectations. THANK YOU!

My experience with Local Roots was great from the first design consultation through the completion of my backyard retreat. I had a small backyard that was challenged by a steep hill. The team was able to install a beautiful, two tiered retaining wall that provided enough space for a dream patio and all-season plunge pool. Thanks for making the unbelievable come true for me!

I expected a reliable landscaping company with fair pricing, but the experience was disappointing. We told them clearly, at least four times over the phone, that our top priority was leaf removal and grass cutting. Despite that, the written agreement left out leaf removal. We assumed it was still understood

When the crew came, they cut the grass but only shredded the leaves, leaving them scattered across the lawn and flower beds. We called to clarify, and they said leaf removal wasn’t in the contract. We requested it be added, but the next team still showed up unprepared, called their manager, and left without doing anything.

We heard nothing after that, no updates, no return calls, despite us reaching out several times. Overall, the company was disorganized, failed to follow through on basic requests, and stopped communicating entirely. Very disappointed, this is a fair and honest review. We basically wasted $350 for our grass to get cut. I don't blame the crew members, but I really expected more. It would've been fine if they reached out. Hopefully you will have better luck than we did with this company.

Update: They tried to fix the issue and promised they would call back the same day we called them. That was 2 and soon to be 3 business days ago, but when we count all days it was 4 almost 5 days ago. I will find a company who actually pays attention to what they say. It's not rocket science. Hopefully they do better for you, it seems like they actively tried to not do their job to avoid the work. They let us down 3 times 🫩

Local Roots Landscaping did an absolutely phenomenal job on my yard! I have a full acre with plenty of hills and tricky sections, but Jamie, JJ, and Cristhian handled everything with such attention to detail. The mowing looks flawless, and I can fully enjoy my outdoor space thanks to their hard work.
They even went the extra mile by trimming a severely overgrown shrub, which made a huge difference in the overall appearance. I couldn’t be happier with the results!
I highly recommend Local Roots Landscaping to anyone looking to transform their yard into a beautiful, well-maintained space. Their professionalism, quality, and care are unmatched.

I cannot recommend Local Roots enough. Initially I was just looking to fence in my back yard for the sake of my eight pound chihuahua, but when Patrick and I talked about how I was going to use the space I couldn't help but fall in love with his vision of a patio and planters to replace my tiny cracked concrete slab. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. It's perfection down to the perfectly chihuahua sized steps leading into the lawn. When we realized I had chosen a fence that my tiny dog could fit through (my fault, not theirs - turns out she's smaller than I thought), they were back in 24 hours to add extra bars to chihuahua-proof the space. The workmanship is true art, meticulously done and beautiful. I can't wait to come up with another project for them to do.

Due to recovery from treatment for cancer, we were not able to do our own work in our yard. Local Roots Landscaping came out for a day and VOLUNTEERED their time, skills and machinery and got our yard ready for new landscaping. They were professional, friendly and obviously, very good at what they do. We couldn't have had a better experience!

Our maintenance team, Kendall and Maynor, are the ABSOLUTE BEST!! Not a weed left standing after a visit! They are always checking to see that everything is meeting our expectations and to see if something else needs to be done! Cannot say enough about these gentlemen! Definitely keeping this team!

I just saw them cutting grass at sheetz at university and stoops ferry. So the guy is cutting the main drag, call it the show piece of the store. Everyone sees your truck sees how you operate and they just chop trash, napkins cups everything all chopped, million pieces. Now, it looks great, good job guys. Every landscaper knows it's better to pick up that one napkin than deal with running it over.
