Parked waiting to pick up someone from work at Wal-Mart. The driver of their truck is pelting cars with rock salt. I called to be told "It's no different than driving on the road". I getvout to check for damages and the same truck drives by and pelts me with rock salt. Only for the guy on the phone to find it funny.
The driver showed a lack of concern for public safety and gross neglance. -
Dec 23, 2022, There snow plow hit my car. I just got a run round and was told he did not do it. He hit my car because he was the only one in the parking lot. Was told let the insurance company fight it out. The driver was rude and treated me like I was dirt. Terrible customer service. Think twice before hiring them.

They refreshed the mulch by my driveway. They originally created the landscape a few years ago. They were timely and efficient. I asked for a bid and once I accepted it the work was scheduled. Wonderful people to work with.

We contacted SGM about having a tree removed, they have a tree service as well. They got back to us right away and came out to give an estimate quickly. They were very responsive and followed up. They were very reasonably priced compared to the big chains, and were able to do the work right away. Jordan and the crew were very friendly and did an amazing job of felling a very tall pine tree, dropping it between power lines and the neighbor's tree with little room to spare. When they were done, all that was left was some mulch from the stump grinding. Very pleased with their work, highly recommended.

I visited for the first time two weeks ago.
Im docking a point because with COVID and all, none of the employees were wearing masks. Not even the person working inside at the register.
Im docking a second point because of the mealybugs! As a precaution I set all of the plants I purchased in a corner away from the rest of my houseplants - as I usually do when bringing a new plant into my home. The next day I gave them a look over & noticed the one plant had mealybugs really badly! I had to treat that plant & as precaution treated all of the plants I purchased that day. I expected to find a pest or two but I fear its gotten a little out of hand.
Im leaving this review because it has now been almost 2 weeks and all of the plants I got from them now have mealybugs. I have been treating & tending to them and its honestly a lot of work. Thank goodness I had everything on hand I needed to treat them. I understand pests in a greenhouse setting is unavoidable, but its a bit of a let down to spend $70 on plants and have to invest a lot of time and Tedious effort just to not infect your other houseplants. I had to get grow lights for these quarantine plants because the only space left in my apartment that would be far enough away from my collection is a dark corner. -
I love it here! So many different plants and the employees are always super helpful. One stop shop for all your gardening and outdoor needs. Best bird feed store too!

Great – we always buy our plants at your store – they have never disappointed. I went once to your competitor in the area by the mall and was sorely disappointed. They all died – must have been hit with a frost and I just happened to buy them when they still ‘looked’ ok. They have no return policy and were very very rude to me. Asked me if I was sure I watered them. My husband and I have been putting in a garden for many many years – the attitude and tone was insulting. Told them I would never be back and I haven’t. Turns out it was probably the best ‘plant’ experience I ever had because now we just buy at Chapons!!!

This place has lots of beautiful greenery. From annuals to perennials, there's plenty to spruce up your garden. Indoor and outdoor, the variety is awesome and these plants looked very healthy. I'll shop there again.

LOVE this place. Great plants, can find some hard-to-find things here and lovely varieties of familiar plants. They always have reliable answers for my questions. I highly recommend you go there. They also have loads of vegetable plants and a very well stocked indoor supply room with soil, fertilizer, deer repeller and all kinds of other stuff you need or want to use for your garden. Can't praise them enough!!

Beautiful greenhouse with a very large selection of indoor and outdoor plants. Some items are pricey, but others are very cheap for what they'd normally go for. I'm willing to spend a little extra as all of their plants are extremely well cared for.
Employees here are always very friendly and helpful.
My literal only complaint(and this comes with an asterisk lol) is that about half the houseplants I've gotten have had mealybugs- I will say that this is something that will obviously happen in any greenhouse. However I'm just adding this to give new plant owners a heads up that you always want to quarantine new plants and even give them a good cleaning and spray down with neem before introducing to your other plants.
I made this mistake and unfortunately mealybugs spread to one of my other plants and it eventually died.
Otherwise, I'd 100% recommend this store. They care for their plants properly unlike a lot of big box stores where I've seen water sensitive plants nearly drown or rotted, low-sun plants placed outside in full sun,and so on. I much prefer to buy from Chapons because they truly seem to have the best understanding of how to care for their plants.
Additionally, they carry pots and indoors is full of garden accessories, soils, fertilizers, tools, seeds, and so on. -
I live in the North Side now, but still come to Chapon's for most of my garden needs. The staff are helpful and the plants are well cared for. It's my go to place for perennials, houseplants, bird seed, potting soil, and soil amendments. I was looking for something to bring the pH of my alkaline clay soil down and searched probably six stores before finding it here. Their selection of fertilizers, pest and disease treatments, and soil amendments is more extensive than most nurseries in the area who really focus only on plants. You can probably find at least an option or two for whatever you're looking for here, like staking supplies, garden art, pond supplies, etc.

A great local resource for gardening and landscaping. The staff is friendly and willing to talk to you about your plans, what works best, and even run down that plant you don't know the name of. Their shade mix grass seed has been miraculous for parts of my yard that otherwise were bare. Stop by look around but most of all ask for advice.

I shopped here on 6/9/18 . I have shopped here for years but this time will be my last! I spent at least 40 min. here and not one person asked me if they could assist me. I saw maybe 3 customers in the greenhouse and about 7 or 8 employees doing very little. I spent 203.19 to b exact and very disappointed! Girl at register rang my order at least 3 times not sure why!!! paid full price for each item. I only went there because I felt horrible about all the flooding that affected there business. Well I will no longer feel that way and the best part about this sale was the flowers were horrible and 2 are dead already, I feel totally cheated and disgusted! Watered the baskets and fed them with food I purchased there and still died!! What a waste of time and money!!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!

While they have a good selection of plants there, most of their houseplants are kept on the ground. Several plants I've gotten from there were infected with mealy bugs and I didnt notice until after I was home with them. Kinda upsetting as they are hard to control in a house with 23 houseplants. So some of my healthy plants are infected now too.. I wish they would find a better way to store their houseplants than on the ground under the outdoor plants.

I'm done going to this place. I try to support small businesses and all I do is regret it. For years we would go here and every time we got plants from here they never did any good. Went last year and there was huge infestations of bugs on all the vegetable plants and when we addressed the issue we were told not to worry about it. Red flag there. Shouldn't be selling infested plants at full price. Went this year. What a joke. I got those vegetable plants in my garden right now and they look sad next to the ones I got at Home Depot. Save your money and go somewhere else. I learned my lesson and I'm never going back.

Its been awhile since I've stopped there. I've missed doing so and was surprised at the seemingly new stuff they had. They're getting ready for the spring madness. Oh, thats baseball huh.
I found what hoped too, and was satisfied with the purchase... I got knowledgeable advise from staff. Being somewhat a 'local' place you'll find a lot more garden finds like bird baths, lawn additions, seeds, ferns, and other porch plants. Lots of larger plants ie: trees, bushes, flowering plants and trees. Mulch by the truck load, and delivery as well.
Give it a go, you'll like it better than the usual suspects. Wally world, or the tool places... -
Wonderful selection of outdoor garden plants, beautifully displayed in their prime. This is the place to go for perennials, shrubs & evergreens. Top quality, fresh, instant effect specimens means you can look at them in all their glory, and choose the ones that appeal to you. Friendly, knowledgeable experts are there to help pick out the ones that are right for your yard.

New to the area, we went for the first time last weekend. Coming from someone who's worked in the nursery industry, the plant stock is high quality and the prices are comparable with a high quality product. The staff was beyond accommodating when we wanted to look at their shrubs in near freezing weather. Will 110% be going back. Worth crossing a bridge or two.

This place is great, huge variety, and Frank was super knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend.

The workers there were extremely helpful. They helped me find the plants that I needed, gave me a discount for it being late in the season, gave me advice on how to plant them, and then carried all of my purchases out to my car. I am very happy with the experience, and hope to come back to them for future plant needs.
