I worked with this company on a bathroom remodel 2-3 years ago and the remodel was done poorly, things are already falling apart. My bathtub pipes are leaking into my ceiling. Unfortunately they only offer a year warranty for their work to fix it so be careful, it may look nice at first but the work doesn’t last. Can’t wait to see how much this will cost me to fix the crappy piping job they did, the remodel itself was not cheap.

HB Services LLC for renovation work is outstanding: excellent workmanship, professional, dependable--and they stand behind their work. HB employees received complements from my townhome neighbors for going out of their way to minimize inconvenience.

I enjoy and appreciate my beautiful renovated kitchen more each day and receive compliments from everyone who sees it. It's been over a year since the completion of my project in December 2020 (kitchen renovation, hard floor refinishing along with deck work). Everything has held up without problem. When I had a minor plumbing follow-up issue this past fall, HB Services responded immediately and fixed it. I would not hesitate to use HB Services again.

Avoid this company at all costs. Our experience was one of the most frustrating, drawn-out, and disappointing projects we’ve ever been through. What was supposed to be a simple two-bathroom renovation turned into an eight-month nightmare of shoddy workmanship, repeated mistakes, and endless delays caused by inexperienced, poorly managed crews. The basement bathroom had to be redone multiple times by different teams, each creating new issues to fix.

Even after the company admitted to the problems and agreed to cancel the second bathroom, they dragged their feet for weeks, dodged questions about refunds, and even implied the leftover materials were our problem. When they finally agreed to pick them up, they had the nerve to charge us for their time — all while ignoring the fact that materials meant for the unfinished second bathroom were used to redo the first one (yes, the same shower was tiled three times because of poor workmanship).

Throughout the process, there was zero transparency — constantly changing explanations, inconsistent numbers, and confusing or incomplete accounting. Getting a straight answer or a complete document required multiple follow-ups. And while they admitted more than once that the project had been mishandled, there was no accountability, no ownership, and no urgency to make things right.

We started this project in good faith and with patience, but it became painfully clear that customer satisfaction and integrity are not values this company upholds. If you care about honesty, professionalism, and clear communication, look elsewhere. Hard pass.

HB Services did a great job renovating my dining room into a guest room. We had an open archway framed up for French doors, walled off walkway to the kitchen, installed a ceiling fan and closet. Then painted the entire room. The project management, invoicing, and quality was on point! HB is now my go-to contractor!

HB Home Services is the company I contracted with to remodel my primary bathroom. I am very pleased with the workmanship that went in to this remodel project. From the first day with the Project Manager, Miguel D. he provided outstanding service throughout the entire renovation. I felt truly supported and knew I could count on him for any questions or concerns to make the process as smooth as possible. The Team Leader, Austin D. did an amazing job with the tub to shower conversion. His attention to detail to ensure the outcome was perfect is commendable. He did a fantastic job with the tile in the shower and the bathroom floor. I was totally confident in his ability to get the job done.

We have used HB for two major renovations and have an exterior face lift planned with them next. I have worked with other companies in previous homes and have been blown away by the difference I’ve found in working with HB. They don’t just preach customer service and family values, they live them with every interaction. The quality of their work is outstanding and they have made our home exactly how we dreamed it could be. They are responsive, honest, easy to work with and worth every dime. We lived through a six month massive project with them and eagerly brought them back to refinish our basement - not many folks can say that! HB did my kitchen remodel in my condo. It was gut and replace and they did a wonderful job. Martese was the project manager and was great! He's very responsive and took care of everything. Even coming back after hours to assist with electrical so I could eat! Byron was the lead contractor and along with his team member they did an amazing job on my kitchen. It's like night and day...I'm so happy with it. I would definitely recommend them and use them again for any other projects I have in the pipeline!

The first time they remodeled our bathroom, and we were so impressed that we brought them back for a home addition. Just like before, the entire experience was seamless. The crew was professional, dependable, and their attention to detail is unmatched. The new addition blends perfectly with the rest of the house — you’d never know it wasn’t part of the original build.

After extensive interviews and reference checks, we chose HB Home Services for a renovation beginning in January, based on repeated assurances the work would be largely complete by our mid-April move. Their website highlights transparency, innovation, integrity, and teamwork, but these values were consistently lacking. The project didn’t even start until the day we moved in, and—five months past the promised timeline—those delays have never been acknowledged.

Areas of Concern

Communication: Scheduling updates were inconsistent. Despite explaining our night-shift schedules, we frequently had to initiate contact ourselves, which was disruptive.

Planning & Measurements: Powder room dimensions were assumed rather than measured, creating errors. Weeks after ordering our primary bath vanity, we discovered it had been backordered the entire time without notice, forcing a rushed last-minute change to “avoid delays”—delays that were already unavoidable.

Product Oversight: Hardware finishes arrived in the wrong tone and weren’t inspected on delivery. We were told, “We do not have the manpower to check items when they arrive.” Seeing them more than 30 days later meant we couldn’t return them—resulting in extra cost and significant delay.

Design & Workmanship: Little proactive management occurred around mirror alignment, lighting choices, or order updates. Visible issues included uncaulked fixtures, grout buildup on flooring, bubbling window film, mishandled molding, crooked faucets, scratched mirrors/hardware, an unsecured bedroom door handle, improperly stained doors that delayed completion, and leaking plumbing under both primary sinks immediately after installation.

Professionalism: Food was left out overnight, a razor was on the floor, trash was left outside, and exterior doors were repeatedly left open—raising safety and cleanliness concerns.

Final Steps: No post-project cleaning was provided.

When we emailed management, we received a polite but generic reply thanking us and promising to “adjust processes.” Mallory offered to send a cleaning crew but did not address delays or quality issues.

Update – September 2025

After posting our initial review, Mallory emailed us, calling it “misleading” and warning it could harm their business and her family. She described the project timeline as a “lose-lose situation” and explained that a staff member’s serious illness affected progress. She then asked how to make things right.

We requested financial compensation for five months of delays, added expenses, and the significant time we devoted to managing problems. Today, Mallory responded:

“I wish I had the capacity to refund you an endless amount, but my limits top out at $5,000, and any refund would require the review to be removed.”

We were disappointed. What appeared to be a good-faith effort now feels conditional on retracting an honest account of our experience. We believe no amount of money should be exchanged for removing a genuine review. Transparency and respect for clients’ time, resources, and homes matter—prospective clients deserve to know what to expect.

Based on our full experience, we cannot recommend HB Home Services.

We used HB for our kitchen remodel, and we are very happy we did! We removed a wall and relocated the kitchen, so it wasn’t a small job. The kitchen turned out beautifully. We are very happy we went with HB, and couldn’t be happier with our kitchen. We love it!

Berto, Alex, and the team did a near-complete remodel of our condo in DC, from replacing floors, redoing the bathroom, upgrading kitchen, repainting, redoing lights, and more. They were absolutely fantastic. Every aspect of the work is excellent. They made some very useful suggestions and they problem-solved for several things we were trying to do. They are prompt, excellent at communicating, and go above and beyond. We have had experience before with very good contractors, but Berto, Alex, and the team were the most outstanding we have had.

Berto and his team are fantastic. They have done several projects in my home and he is always professional, well-priced and thorough. We have had the pleasure of working with them for painting, electrical, yard work and home improvement. I have added a few photos that show some of the work.

Exceptional work! They were able to remove a low-bearing wall to completely open up our space. They also relocated the vents, updated the electrical, and installed recessed lighting. The prices were great, and the entire project only took about a week. I couldn’t ask for a better company, I feel so blessed to have found them!

My experience with Great Exterior and Interior has been more than satisfying. The work quality is excellent. The workers are professionals who know their trades and pay attention to the customer’s needs. For a couple of weeks, I had them working several projects at my house which included painting the whole house, changing all the baseboards and all electrical outlets and doing a complete remodeling of my laundry room and studio room, etc… The finish product is wonderful in addition to the consulting sessions they provide in deciding which paint to use and some specific details most people are not usually thinking about. On top of it, everyday at the end of the day they leave a clean and safe worksite that I had to live in during these two weeks.
