Constraction reviews in Cumberland, Rhode Island

Excellent work and serious dedication by their crews. The day after a major snow storm, they were back and digging out their work area to keep going on a deck they were building for us. Communication is excellent and--most importantly--there are no "oh, by the way" situations where all of a sudden there's a thing that jacks the price way up after work has already begun. Anyone who has worked with a disreputable contractor will know what I'm talking about. None of that took place with JB Cote. We got exactly what was agreed upon and we plan to use them again for our next major project. The price is a wee bit high compared to some of the other quotes we got, but we definitely got what we paid for and are very happy with the quality and speed of the work. They also threw in a re-roofing of one of our sheds to sweeten the deal which was much appreciated. That roof was leaking like crazy after it had already been replaced by a different contractor who shall remain nameless here, so it was great to finally have that taken care of as well.

JB Cote is an amazing company. They start on time.. finish on time. Do a fabulous job.
They did 2 bathrooms, roof and new windows for me. I highly recommend them.

JB Cote went above and beyond -- including dealing with some mistakes on our part professionally and courteously. I detail the entire experience in more detail below.

JB Cote Construction’s crew was great and very professional. We appreciated the care and respect shown to our home as well as their expertise. After our contract was drawn up, we realized there were a few items that were not on the list and they accommodated us where they could which was awesome. We also supplied the crew with an incorrect mirror, and it wasn’t until after installation we realized it was the wrong size. Feeling embarrassed I let them know and they happily took it down and boxed it back up for us with no issue. Another mirror we supplied was broken before they arrived, whoops. The crew showed no signs of frustration with my ineptitude. I cannot stress how pleasant and professional they were.

When we realized one door opened the opposite way we would have liked, JB Cote sent someone over to adjust it very promptly. We were very happy with how they wanted everything to be right. There was a bit of confusion regarding the contract, and it's something I needed to pay more attention to, but it did not impact our view that this is a 5 star company.

JB Cote has been the best construction company we’ve worked with since moving to Rhode Island. We were quite happy with the quality, professionalism, and responsiveness with communications. We plan to work with them in the future with further housing projects.

I had new floor tiles installed in my kitchen and bathroom. I also had a Generac Generator installed at my home. I contacted J.B. Cote Construction to take care of all the required work. I am happy with everything I had done. I would recommend J.B. Cote Construction to my family and friends if they were looking for a
contractor to do renovations or install a home generator. They take care of everything from start to finish. J.B. Cote Construction does quality work and are experts in their field.

JB Cote Construction Co. is a very conscientious, detailed oriented group of skilled craftsmen. Unsurpassed quality, from engineered plans to finished projects. I would highly recommend John and Brian to handle any size construction project!

If you’re considering a home renovation, look no further than J.B. Cote Construction. They recently completed a full demo and rebuild of our kitchen, living room, and breezeway, and the results are beyond what we could have imagined.

This was a big project—they handled everything: demolition, insulation, tiling, flooring, cabinets, plumbing, electrical, appliance installation, and even wire management for the TV. They covered our old stone fireplace, installed an electric fireplace, knocked down a load-bearing wall, installed a 14-foot support beam, moved windows, and added a slider. They even took care of the finishing touches like hanging window treatments and mounting the TV.

The crew showed up every day at 6:50 am on the dot, except Mondays when they started closer to 8 am because of their weekly team meeting to prep for the week ahead. Their organization and attention to detail were incredible, and it showed in every part of the process.

What really sets them apart is how personal the experience was. Brian, the owner, and his crew felt like family. They were respectful, friendly, and just great to have around. My kids actually got attached to Rui and Phil, and when the project was finished, they were sad they wouldn’t get to see them every day! It says a lot about the kind of people they are.

Even after the project was done and fully paid for, Brian and his team kept in touch. They reached out multiple times to check in, and when we noticed small things like a squeaky basement door, they were back within a day or two to fix it. That level of service and care is hard to find.

If you’re looking for a contractor that does exceptional work and treats you like family, I can’t recommend J.B. Cote Construction enough. They made what could have been a stressful renovation feel seamless, and we couldn’t be happier with the results!

I am an interior designer and working with JB Cote with my clients was a great experience. They were well priced for my clients budget, very professional, and communicative. Brian ensured I was included in all major decisions . They use the Buildertrend app to be transparent about schedule and communicate with everyone, which really streamlined the process. Additionally, the crew onsite were respectful and very clean! I will be recommending them for all of my future clients in the area.

When you have a project that is important to you, you want to hire a company that takes their job serious and follows all the details you need to be followed. J B Cote Construction is that company from the top-down!
I was excited to design my new larger front deck for my Village Barber business with an existing awning to work around. Sydney, Brian and John Cote were very helpful with many great ideas, over many emails too! Mike, Phil, Nate, Brian and the whole crew worked tirelessly from 7am sharp through end of day during extreme hot weather! They also finished this very large demo and redesigned deck within a week...incredible!
I've had many customers and strangers as well, reach out to me about how amazing the deck came out. My building looks like it had a total face-lift. I knew how happy I was with the finished project, but I felt even better with all the positive compliments and praise for J B Cote's professionalism. If you have a project of your own and need it done right...call J B Cote right away!

We hired JB Cote Construction to knock down a wall and install a support beam. We really liked how they did it so we hired them for a second job of moving our back down to where a window was. After that job and a year later (my family expanded as well) we decided to hire them to add a second floor to our house! The full addition and all the other projects were all perfect! Couldn’t have asked for a better company to do these projects for my family! Excellent detailed work along with informing us of every detail along the way to keep us in the loop!

TLDR version:
Great communication
Amazing quality of the work
Friendly employees
Would easily use them again!

Brian and the crew at JB Cote installed 29 windows, 3 doors and a slider at our home. They treated our home like it was there own making every effort cleaning up each day.

They went the extra mile replacing a bathroom fan exhaust cap that been missing on the exterior of our house for Years. Never mentioning it.

Couldn't recommend them enough and can't wait to work with them on our next home improvement project.

J B Cote did a fabulous job on our in-law addition. Brian and his team were very professional and always answered all our questions and concerns.
Brian was always quick to respond to phone calls that we made and answered all questions we may have had regardless how small they may have seemed. He stayed on his time line and completed the project on schedule.
We have received multiple compliments on how beautiful and how great the addition looks.
They are an excellent company to work with and their end result is phenomenal. I will always contact them with any future projects and have recommended them to many friends.
If your looking for any projects that need to be done this would be the company to call.

JB Cote Construction did a fantastic job redesigning our backyard including a larger deck, and beautiful patio area around our new pool. In addition, they updated our master bath and divided a bedroom into a walk in closet and office space. They listened to our ideas and made suggestions throughout the projects. The quality of work was excellent, they responded quickly to emails and phone calls, the workers were professional and cleaned the work areas each day, the jobs were done in timely manner. We were so satisfied, that we have them returning to update two bathrooms in 2025.

My husband and I strongly recommend J.B Cote Construction. They have recently completed some renovations for us and we were greatly impressed by their professionalism, quality of work and their attention to detail. Their office staff was very responsive and courteous. We would definitely hire them for our next projects. Thank you J.B Cote Construction and to your support contractors for a job well done.

Amazing transformation of our powder room. Who would think that such a small room could become such a statement piece in our house. During the remodel, they found issues from the original construction which they corrected. We are thrilled with our new bathroom and can't wait to have them return to transform other rooms in our house.

Cote Construction never disappoints. Our renovated barn is now a value ad for our property rather than an eyesore. They started the project on time as promised. No surprises. Couldn’t imagine using anyone else.

JB Cote was able to build a beautiful staircase at my home which allowed me to get access to my backyard.

From the estimate (on time, great price) to the execution (professional crew, on time and on budget) JB Cote delivered what they said they would with excellent craftsmanship.

One of the challenges I had with getting this work scheduled was a lot of other contractors ghosted me. JB Cote arrived when they said they would, gave me a fair estimate, kept me in the loop on timing, scheduling, and material selection.

I will certainly consider them first for any additional work at my home.

I have had J B Cote Construction do many projects on my home. I have had a bathroom, flooring, decks, siding and other projects completed. I am always very happy with the work. They are very neat and timely. But most of all their work is beautiful, like something from a home improvement magazine. Very professional.

JB Cote did a fantastic job replacing our old deck with a new maintenance-free composite screened porch, as well as fixing our pool patio with a new retaining wall. This is the second project they have done for us, and they are always professional, courteous, and efficient. It is obvious they take pride in their work! Highly recommend them!

If you want a quick easy review, this isn’t for you. It will long winded but thorough. It has taken my husband and I over 3 months to write this review because we want to give JB Cote Construction the accolades it deserves.

We’ve searched for someone to renovate our home for over a year and couldn’t find the right person, until we met JB Cote Construction. We initially met Brian, Mike, and Paulo to help us take our wants and wishful ideas, and created a plan that was beyond our expectations. They gave us detailed plans and realistic timelines. They were with us every step of the of way and never left us in a lurch. When we ran into an issue with our plumbing, they IMMEDIATELY took care of it and made sure to prevent future issues. Our house being what it is ran into issues, JB Cote took it in stride and made sure we were safe and resolved them.

JB Cote bent over backwards to make sure our kitchen was everything we've ever wanted, and patient with us when we had a hard time making certain decisions. They guided us on sharing what they know from their areas of expertise and respected our final decisions.

Our house finally feels like a home, it looks and feels like night and day. They made many positive changes to our home and made it feel bigger by taking a wall down, relocating stairs off to the side, rearranging the appliances, adding an island, and giving us a closet.

You may never find a more friendly, patient, respectful, polite, and professional crew, they’re simply amazing.

Our only regret is that we didn’t meet them sooner. Thank you everyone at JB Cote Construction and the other companies they’re affiliated with (Novo Design Build LLC for our cabinets with Paulo, Stonetek Imports Inc for our countertops, and Dynamic Electric LLC for our electrical work).

Converted an old attic into master suite with full bath with double vanity tub and wall in shower, walk in closet, sitting area and cedar closet. Renovated first floor bathroom. Built new to-code stairwell to second floor. Outstanding high quality work. Communication was seamless. Concerns quickly addressed. The job was done the way a job should be done. Would hire this crew again in a heartbeat. They are amazing.

During the February 2026 snowstorm, we experienced ice dams that caused water intrusion into our first-floor ceiling and basement, and several restoration companies proposed extensive and very costly repairs. JB Cote took a far more thoughtful and conservative approach, opening walls and ceilings section by section to confirm the presence of damage before proceeding. The actual damage proved to be much more limited than initially suggested, and the repairs were completed at a fraction of the earlier estimates. Their crew was professional, skilled, and meticulous with daily clean-up, and management was honest, straightforward, and never upsold us. Working with them felt like having a trusted family member in the general contracting business. We plan to use them for a much more substantial construction project on our property in the near future -- an ADU. Highly recommended.
