Constraction reviews in Cumberland, Rhode Island

Excellent work from start to finish. Derek and his team were very professional. The renovations turned out better than we expected. Highly recommend Northeast Contracting!

Derek and his crew are very professional. They remodeled my kitchen and was done before the timeline he gave me. He guided me through everything that was being done they treat you like family. Very highly recommend They do beautiful work

Derek’s background in inspection was very helpful to us as we renovated our 1869 home on the East Side. It is rare to find a tradesman as experienced in all the necessary trades to restore an historic home. His team is reliable and friendly. Great contractor!

The first job Derek did for me was around 15 years ago, there were serious structural issues in our three decker condo and Derek walked us through all the issues and went through the options to repair and when it came time to do the work he had a huge crew there every day working non-stop and fully took care of all the issues without any shortcuts. Derek also did multiple home inspections for us and provided the most thorough inspection reports I've seen, but not filled with non-issues just to fill the report. He identified issues and gave an honest opinion on the seriousness of each one. The most recent job he did was a massive outdoor kitchen/living area. The only negative was that the job took a long time due to another project going over and Derek having fewer workers post-Covid. In the end, he made sure everything was done right and the final result was amazing. Derek cares a lot about the work he does and and can handle everything from smaller jobs to massive remodels.

Working with Derek is an absolute pleasure. He treats your home as if it were his own, takes pride in his work, and values partnership and customer service above all else. He's one of the kindest, most hardworking people I know and you can trust him to deliver results you'll be happy with!

I had the privilege of working with Derek on a few occasions. I never met a more caring or honest individual and his work ethic is unmatched. He’s very upfront about what is needed to complete the job. He comes early, stays late and doesn’t leave a job until it’s done perfectly . I highly recommend Derek!

I had some home improvements done recently by Derek and the Northeast contracting crew and to say they were terrific. Would be a understatement. Starting with estimate which was in very detailed and helpful and priced fairly and then on to the wrok itself which was professionaly done and if there was anything i had a question about or wasnt sure of Derek was there to answer any questions. They were always prompt and neat they made it very easy to deal with while my home was under constuction i would absolutely reccomend Northeast Contracting again and i will definetly use them for my next project.

Northeast Contracting delivered excellent service from start to finish. Derek, the owner, is professional, knowledgeable, and clearly takes pride in his work. He and his team were reliable, communicative, and attentive to detail throughout the entire project. The quality of the workmanship exceeded expectations, and everything was completed on time and as promised. I would highly recommend Northeast Contracting to anyone looking for dependable, high-quality contracting services!

Derek and his team do exceptional work! They did my roof and took pictures so I could see what the issues were and the work they did. I then hired them for multiple other jobs and have recommended them to three of my friends who are all very pleased with their work. Derek is a perfectionist and his team is as well. I highly recommend them.

Northeast Contracting is the best. Derek has done several projects for me over the years and I've been extremely happy with every single one. He's honest, reliable, and very knowledgeable. If you want a contractor you can fully trust and does impeccable work, Derek will not disappoint!

I Hired Northeast Contracting to rebuild my garage after a tree fell on it and destroyed it. Derek Smith is the most professional contractor that I’ve ever dealt with. The entire crew was friendly and easy to communicate with. The job was done quickly and the new garage exceeded my expectations.Derek is pleasant to deal with and I would recommend northeast Contracting to anyone looking for an exceptional experience.

Derek Smith the owner of Northeast contracting, is the only contractor I would use and recommend to anyone in need of work done to their house or property.
Derek is very professional, attentive to your needs, dependable, trustworthy and honest. Something that is extremely hard to find in a contractor in today’s world. He has completed numerous jobs for me which include a garage addition, a fire escape from the second floor of my house and a new roof.
He has a work ethic that is unmatched. “Good enough” is never good enough for Derek and his crew. Derek has a keen eye and is very detail orientated. It is obvious when you speak with Derek that “he knows his stuff” and that there are no shortcuts to doing things the right way.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Northeast Contracting LLC, expertly led by owner Derek Smith, for a comprehensive set of home improvement projects—including all the items I meticulously checked off on my project checklist. From the initial consultation to the final walkthrough, Derek and his team were an absolute delight: friendly, approachable, and always ready with a smile and clear communication. Their pricing was refreshingly affordable, delivering exceptional value without any hidden surprises. True to their word, they tackled everything on time, respecting my schedule while maintaining a spotless worksite. The end results? We chose Northeast Contracting after a friend recommended them. They built a gorgeous addition on their home. After meeting Derek, I can see why they are so highly recommended. We were looking to have our kitchen remodeled. He took his time explaining the whole process to us and even offered some design changes which added about 12 sq ft of counter space and a wine bar. They worked very efficiently and cleaned up after each day. I was very pleased with their work, pricing and professionalism. I would highly recommend Derek and Northeast Contracting and would use them in my future projects.

We hired Northeast Contracting because I was friendly with Derek Smith, the business owner. The renovation became much more substantial that we originally envisioned and Derek and his guys were there every step of the way- explaining their work and showing us how repairs were being made. The transparency eased our minds even as the project became larger. The quality of the work was outstanding and Derek’s knowledge of his trade was very impressive. Derek and his guys worked really well together as a unit so there was no stress on the job site. Also, Derek stayed on schedule and got the job done in a timely manner, which is uncommon these days. So my overall experience with Derek Smith and Northeast Contracting was extremely positive and I would confidently recommend them for any type of construction/ renovation work.

I worked closely with Derek, the owner of Northeast Contracting, for several years, and I can say without hesitation that he is the most reliable, skilled, and professional contractor I have ever worked with.

Throughout the time we worked together, I consistently saw Derek’s enthusiasm for his craft, his attention to detail, and his commitment to doing things the right way. His workmanship is exceptional, and he takes genuine pride in every phase of a project, from planning to execution to final cleanup. He does not cut corners, and his standards are extremely high.

What truly sets Derek apart is his professionalism and integrity. He communicates clearly, shows up when he says he will, and stands behind his work. He has deep knowledge across all phases of construction, which makes him a rare find in this industry. Whether it’s structural work, finish work, or complex repairs, he approaches every job with confidence and expertise.

I have referred Derek to everyone I know, and every single person has spoken highly of him. The feedback is always the same: excellent work, honest pricing, and results that exceed expectations. That level of consistency says everything.

If you are looking for a contractor you can fully trust, someone who delivers quality and professionalism every time, Derek is the only contractor I would recommend.

We hired Derek and Northeast Contracting to replace some stairs at a beachfront property. Being on a beach prone to weather like high winds, saltwater, and hurricanes can be challenging but Derek listened to all of our concerns, did all the research, and built a beautiful, sturdy set of stairs that will last for many years. I would highly recommend Derek and his team do anyone looking for a contractor. He is truly and expert in what he does and takes pride and care in his work.

I recently had Northeast Contacting replace a 40 year old eyebrow off the back of my garage. Derek and his crew came in and built a replacement that will outlive my home. Solid construction from the concrete work, framing and metal roofing through to completion resulting in eye appealing addition to my home. I could not be more pleased with the quality workmanship and professionalism that Derek and his crew showed

We had Derek, from northeast contracting, build an addition on our house. During our initial discovery period, we had contacted several other builders and contractors to get their input and quotes on the proposed project and our needs. Derek was by far the most direct, upfront and honest of the group. We were impressed by his knowledge, creative thinking and experience skill sets. We received detailed statements of works with itemized price quotes.
His work estimate was inline with our budget. He coordinated and worked with us and the architect during the planning and architecture phase, addressing all the details and nuances that come along with building code alignment with design needs. During the building phase Dereks abiltity to be dynamic and responsive in problem solving was a very comfortable trait. He was always available and quick to respond by text, cell phone, or email. Derek takes ownership of a job very seriously and will go above and beyond to ensure that he does the customer right. Whenever I had a concern, a question, a comment, a critique he would address it completely and that helped eliminate a lot of stress from myself and my wife as were were living through a large addition build. As things came up, that were unexpected or changes were made to the original plans. Derek made sure to go over any changes in the pricing in detail. I honestly cant say enough good things in this review, as we worked with Derek over a span of a few months from design to completion. We will hire northeast contracting in the future for other projects.

We hired Derek to build a mudroom and 2 car garage addition in 2022 and we could not be happier with the outcome. Derek and his team are very professional and honest. They work in a timely manner to ensure the work is done correctly the first time. We were so pleased with Derek and his team that we hired them again to rebuild our deck and bathroom. Derek was very helpful to me when it came to designing the deck and pieces for our bathroom.
As with older homes, renovations can create issues when walls are taken down. They did with us and Derek is all about solutions that are cost effective. We wouldn’t hire anyone else!

I like to make good plans for building.
