I had several complex issued fixed by Stephen Wilson from Bates Electrical. They are fast honest and professional. Give them a call. If they can fix my issues they can fix yours too.
-
Super professional. He gave us a few different options based on price and explained what was causing the issue. We went with the mid-priced option and everything has worked great so far.

Ken was called to address a seemingly simple problem. It turned out to be more complex that we thought. I admire Ken's dedication, knowledge, and perseverance. He did a great job under difficult circumstances. Thanks, Ken!

Called Bates because I had no power to my water heater. They said they would be out between 2:00 and 5:00. They didn’t get there until just after 5:00 so they charged me the after hours fee. He was there about 30 to 35 minutes and said all I need is a new breaker but didn’t have one on the truck ….. so they charged me $344.00 and said they would get the breaker and be back tomorrow…. Tomorrow never came so they came back the next day and charged me another $115.00 and 45.00 for the breaker. So the grand total was $501.93 to change a breaker. They have a 3.8 rating for a reason. I won’t use them again.

I will not be using Bates Electric again. I do not find their pricing structure is ethical.
My wife called and let them know we had an ARC breaker that needed to be replaced. Instead of asking what brand so the tech could bring the breaker with them, they charged the following:
$115 to com out at all.
$115 per hour
$137 for the part
The kicker is because the tech did not have the part, I was stuck paying $143.75 for them to go buy one since the $115/hour did not stop when they left to get the part.
Furthermore, they charged me 1.75 hours when they showed up at 9:45am and left before 11:15. I wasn't in the mood for arguing, so enjoy my money and this review. -
Brad was my technician. He installed three lights over my island and a ceiling fan in a bedroom. Did a great job. I will call them again in the future if I need anything.

I made an appt for a Bates technician to come do an estimate on several things in the 82yr old house I just bought. The soonest appt was 2.5wks out, but I took it anyway. I made a sooner appt with another company too. I was told when making the appt with Bates, that it would be $125/hr, so that is what I was expecting to pay. Despite the Bates fee of $125 being higher for a quote, my electrical safety concerns were great enough to want a 2nd opinion. I hadn’t received a reminder text or email for Bates to come, so I had to call back the day before to confirm. The lady confirmed the appt & reminded me again of the $125 service fee (I still only heard of $125, despite the different terminology).
The technician was on time & friendly, telling me what he suspected the quotes would be (cheaper than first company). When we were settling up, he asked if I knew it would be $250. I told him I was told $125/hr, to which he stated the customer is usually surprised at the $250 quote fee, implying that this info is not made very clear at the time of scheduling. Apparently, it’s $125/hr AND a $125 service fee, when the guy was only here for 30min! Maybe I should’ve noticed the different verbiage from the scheduler, but I’ve worked in customer service for years & many people would’ve made this mistake. I would NOT have made an appt with Bates had I known the cost of a quote. I received an email same day with my invoice, but I never received a quote. I called the next day to inquire & was told that quotes take 5-7 business days to receive! I can’t wait that long, plus another 2-3wks for another appt. I wasted an extremely valuable $250, & I am still waiting for my quote after 9 business days.
This company’s schedulers need to make it clear what exactly quote cost will be & how long it will take to receive quote. Most families cannot afford $250 for a quote. The other company cost $69 for a quote that I received same day. That’s better customer service. -
BEWARE. Clown show. BEWARE.
They’ll under quote you to get you to have them come out. Charge you $115 just to come out. Then assess what they need when it’s already on the work order what they need for an hour. There’s another $115. Slowest incompetent techs. Then they’ll go get the part from Lowe’s that cost $56.99
and charge you $335 for it.
For a 50amp camper hook up 10ft from the panel they “tried” to charge me $1,025. Run… don’t walk from these clowns. The office personal are even better and will come up with every excuse in the book as to why you are wrong. Don’t take their price. Go with another company -
Very disappointed with Bates Electric. I already moreless chose an electrician for a job, but wanted to do my final checks before moving forward. To be fair, the scheduler seems to be my main concern with lack of empathy from management. The actual electrician team seem extremely experienced.
The scheduler was not knowledgeable nor clear with what they said. I described my situation clearly and suggested I needed a meter back put in and a panel and I was asking for ball park prices for the service. She responded with $1800 for just the panel plus ~$150 for permits. Which I was just wanting to get a panel of service and this is what I asked about. I scheduled a visit for $250 since the next best price was ~$3k.
Well I get a quote back and its almost $4k, I called and said this is no where close to the number on the phone. Ballparks are ballparks, but over double didn't make sense. Well speaking to the team and manager I was told the scheduler said the panel was $1.8k for just that material. That didn't include any other materials or the service. They went back to listen to my call and I ask for a ball park and she clearly said "just the panel", but given the context seemed on par for what we were talking about. The manager was sympathetic suggesting clearly the scheduler didn't answer my question rather just said something else. But, the manager suggested this was my fault for not catching her redirecting my question. Also she no longer works there, so makes me think this isn't the only time.
As I mentioned company seems knowledgeable, but assume the scheduler will provide false info. I felt very bait and switch with the situation and out $250 for nothing. I understand companies can't always come out for free, but providing misleading numbers is part of the reason they have so many quotes in the first place. Even with a knowledgeable group I would rather do business with a team that doesn't feel like a 1 way street. -
Steven Wilson did a great job installing our ring flood lights today. This is his second trip to my home for electrical work in the past 3 months and he is always courteous and helpful. I will continue to use this company.

Jeremy Parker was a pleasure to work with. He installed 2 pendant lights in our master bedroom and did a wonderful job. He was efficient and professional and I would highly recommend him. I will definitely request him for any electrical projects down the line.

Stephen from Bates was fantastic. Came out for an emergency service and was able to fit us in, and was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Was extremely appreciative and he was in and out, found the problem and fixed it. Absolutely recommend them for electrical concerns. Thank you again!

My entire house lost electricity due to a main panel issue on a Saturday morning. I called Bates and they had Stephan Wilson out in about an hour. He was able to restore our power and save our weekend! He did a great job!

Ken Bogle has serviced our electrical needs on numerous occasions and has just gotten better and better. He’s conscious of managing his time well and keeping me informed on all aspects of the job. Timely and precise. Cleaned up too! Thank You Ken and Bates Electric
-
Ken was professional , knowledgeable and personable, he was very receptive to what we wanted and explained what he was doing step by step through out the process. Would highly recommend Bates electric to anyone I meet who needs electrical work done

Huu was our technician and I he did a great job. We needed an outlet added into the garage and some low voltage wire to run from the garage and out to a new sprinkler valve system. Had all the tools he needed to get through the concrete and the brick, explained to me what he was going to do, then did it pretty quickly.

Michael S came to my house to install smoke detectors. A prior company botched the job and didn’t connect a required wire to the smoke detector. Michael knew immediately what the problem was. He was efficient and knowledgeable and a nice guy. I would ask for him any time I have an electrical issue. Thank you Michael!

Stephen was our electrician. His assignment was installing an “add in” box behind a TV. It went fantastic and was well worth the money. He assisted at my mother in laws house. I wasn’t even there and made payment over the phone once the work was completed. In and out of the house in less than 1 hour. Great experience with Bates Electric !!!
