I am posting this information on the headquarters site in addition to my local branch as I am extremely dissatisfied with TruGreen lawn care service and so are multiple others I spoke with in the neighborhood.

This is the second year I have used them instead of using a different service. Problems started a month or more ago and they came out and said they would take care of it by applying some product. Things started to green up a little but soon turned worse and are now even worse. Others in the neighborhood who are using other lawn services have much better looking lawns. I called and I was told they would be out for a "free" service call yesterday and that the service manager in Monroeville would call me (Still waiting for hear from someone) to find out what the problem is and for them to correct it. (part of their so called program guarantee).

According to an email I received they did come out to look at the lawn yesterday but did not do anything. No information was left at the door and since we were home no one came to the door to let us know they were there or to discuss. To date no one has contacted me and things are no better.

The attached photo shows what my lawn looked like early yesterday morning. It is an absolute mess...and I am paying for this service???? My next door neighbors lawns look no better. Their back yard looks like brown hay field. This is not a watering issue as we and the neighbors do have sprinkler systems. When I mentioned to my neighbor that I was supposed to hear from service manager they too have been calling Trugreen to report problems. I also then checked with my neighbor across the street and they too were calling TruGreen as they are not satisfied.

Very disappointed and will be discussing with others whose lawn looks fine to change to the lawn care service they are using.

Please do not use TruGreen you are better off keeping up your own lawn. I prepaid for the year for their service for my bushes and shrubs and my yard, and they literally stop servicing me after like the first two appointments in May of this year and didn't return until August like they took a 3 month vacation. I filed a BBB complaint and spoke with a Shaunna who works at corporate and I advised her if my lawn was not corrected I want a refund. Well I have not been able to reach corporate again. At this time my lawn has just continued to die. When TruGreen came out in August after they took a 3 month sabbatical they over fertilized my yard and since then my yard has literally turned brown from the sidewalk to the front yard to the back yard :( . The manager in Richmond VA he could careless he told Corporate he was going to come out and take a look he didn't come out until September after his vacation and this was in August early August when I started filing my complaints via BBB! Customer service rep on the phone and email all they say is, "I'm so sorry this happened to you, let me offer you a free whatever". Unfortunately I don't want your free make up service for continuously ruining my yard. TruGreen guarantees their service but they don't want to refund your money for poor service. Simple don't know what the color GREEN is. Do not, do not use truGreen and I'm just talking from experience and I still want a refund! I have more photos however I figure this is enough to show you my concerns and to let you know why you should not purchase TruGreen services.
I found out that the manager over my area has tried to put the blame on me as to why the yard look this way. However, TruGreen stop coming out for 3 whole months and they only started coming back out after I called to find out why they stop coming. The landscapers that mow my yard told me they put too much fertilizer down I guess trying to fix what they messed up. My yard is a disaster.I have before pictures of how my yard looked. I wouldn't ever recommend them to anyone! EVER!

Weeds in my back yard are as bad as ever. I've called the branch office before & they said they'd take care of it. Never got better. Spoke with several technicians when they came out & walked them around the back yard & showed them all the weeds.
Nothing has ever improved. Tech came at 7am this am & left their bill in the mail. Called them this afternoon when I got home & spoke with a Lexi, in Indiana. I requested a supervisor to come out but she said she couldn't do that...asked for corporate info & she refused. I requested to speak with her Supervisor & again she refused. I ended up hanging up on her because all she ever offered was a free re-service! After I hung up my husband called back & terminated all services! Tomorrow at 0730 a Supervisor with Alabama Lawns...actually, he's the owner, to assess our lawn & we plan to sign a contract with them. Never again will I ever do business with TruGreen or recommend them to anybody!! When a company becomes so arrogant that they can't respond to a simple request from a customer that they have had in excess of 10 yrs+, it is time to move on.
And on a personal note...Lexi, I found your Corporate info on my own and I will be calling them tomorrow with a request for them to listen to the phone call between us. Lets see what they think about the customer service you provided.

Worst lawn service ever. My lawn was the Lawn of the Quarter then TruGreen came along. They have killed my lawn. I asked the guy adding the chemicals about the new brown spots. He said he didn’t know what to do and if I thought he should apply more fertilizer. I had someone come out but he didn’t bother to call to make sure we were there. I received a statement that the issue was crabgrass. When I talked with his manager he validated that the pictures they took before they started did not have any crabgrass. Stay away from this company!!!!

I would give them a zero rating if I could! Problems from day 1. Calls placed for months with the same response, someone call back in 48 hours. 6 months later never hear from anyone. My sod after 6 months is brown and FULL of weeds! The first technician only treated a portion of my sod, left my gates opened and was only on site maybe 6 minutes, to treat over 15,000 square foot of sod. They sent another technician out and he was even a shocked at how bad my yard look. He was very apologetic. Today I get a text of the technician I asked not to come out saying he would be out Monday to treat my yard. So now TruGreen is sending out a technician whom I asked not to. You can’t get a Supervisor on the phone or a return call. I wish I have never paid for the service a year up front, lesson learned. I can cancel my service but I’m out the $610 for service and the repairs it’s going to take to repair my sod. Worst company I have ever felt with. Maybe a civil action will get someone’s attention!

UPDATE….. THE EMAIL PROVIDED BY TRU GREEN BELOW DOES NOT WORK!! SURPRISE SURPRISE.

Aeration dine improperly promised to rectify never did. 1 treatment service guy sat in his truck the whole time then placed a card on a stick stuck it in my yard saying service complete. What a JOKE OF A COMPANY!! DO NOT USE THIS LAWN SERVICE!

They’ve been charging me for weed control in my backyard, but the weeds are still growing all over the yard. I need to cancel the service. Scam, collecting money

This company is incompetent of any lawn care or sprinkler system matainance. I live in Texas and Rory from the commercial division has promised me several times that they could "tune up" my Irrigation system and nothing has changed except they knocked out the drive on my well destroyed my yard. And all while promising me they would fix it. I asked for them to keep the water off all structures and road ways due to the high iron water staining. I even showed them where it hit and they did nothing but add a ball value. Also when I orginally contacted them it was to get rid of Dallis grass and I was promised they could kill 90-95% of it. I spoke to Rory and said that the treatments were not effective on it and he told me that would be a additional charge they could do later in the summer (August). I explained to him I was promised the service I signed up for was to treat it. He they said no it would not and it was a separate charge. I at that time suggest I just cancel the service since that's what I really needed. He then offered a free treatment (not to treat the Dallis grass) but of what I didnt need but agreed to take to kill the dallis grass..... I hope to see some results. But today I get a bill for the work to the sprinkler system that was not done correctly!!!!

Scam artists. They offer full yard service. But unless you sit there and watch them, they treat your yard in less than 10 minutes. After 5 treatments my yard is no better than it was before treatments (imagine that when they do a quick spray and leave). I cancelled so I could get resolution and not pay for another service before I got resolution. They refused a refund and would only offer a free full spray if I agreed to a new service plan. Why would I do that when they quickly come and leave and I get no results?

Would give 0 stars to trugeen if possible. It is a matter of time before someone makes the news for causing violence to someone regarding their fraudulent business. My lawn looks so much worse 15 months after signing up for their scam. Pictures show self cared neighbors lawn compared to mine. Pictues do it no justice as well, its become a complete weed garden. $700 down the drain. DO NOT give these lowlifes your business. They dont answer phone calls unless you are trying to sign up for service and when you get transferred they never call you back in the 24-48 hour time period as they tell you. In the hundreds of businesses that have got my money. Trugreen takes the icing as the worst business ive ever encountered.

The only thing that went smoothly was the sales process. My yard is in a worse condition than before using their services. Their cancellation process is a pain. Their treatments did not prevent weeds nor did they spray the entire yard.

Tru Green burned my back yard a year ago. It sat like that forever. They finally planted some grass in November since I had nothing but mud in my back yard. There were still bald patches near the entrance to my back yard and they came and put down seed that did not work. They need to finish fixing the mess they made. The grass they planted is not even and patchy and looks hideous!

QUICK UPDATE 9/13/24. I just wanted to add that corporate reached out to me and they are really trying to make it right for me, customer service its amazing and they really go above and beyond to help you during these stressed situation. I still need to see if the "experts" will fix my lawn and bring it back to life but customer service is the best of the best.

my lawn was average looking before requesting services from trugreen but I wanted to get to the next level and have a thick perfect green lawn that's why I decided to call "the experts" and after three years of having experts working on my lawn now I don't even have an average lawn where my children can play, before I dreamed with a lawn where my children where able to play barefoot but now I probably need steel toe shoes to step in my ugly lawn, I was very patient and understanding because after the first season of trugreen working on my lawn and not noticing any positive changes I thought "well lets wait until next year to start seeing improvements" but next year arrived and my lawn kept declining by the experts services. attached is pictures of my before and after. the before pictures are the ones where you can see green (cared by me) the completely dead lawn pictures is the work of three years performed by the experts.
if you noticed the employee even puts the signage on the lawn which its kind of embarrassed that my neighbors see that I hired someone to come and kill my lawn and on top of that I have to pay for it. my lawn is the worst in the block and I am the only one paying TruGreen for their services performed by "the experts"

I’m going to edit this: Since my review things have continued to decline. They serviced my neighbors lawn, not mine. But I was charged. They came out to resolve things, never touched the back. Came back, re-did things. Two days later came again which can harm my lawn. This company lacks communication, structure & organization. Some of the people are very nice. Too many hands in the pot and there is either no follow through or an incorrect one. Each - and - every - time. What I really want to say is so mean, I just won’t write it. This experience has been nothing short of pitiful.

My experience w this company is similar to the other bad reviews. They make false promises to sell. Do not follow up or follow through. The do the absolute bare minimum when treating your lawn. If they do it, at all. I have been charged when they didn’t even come out. Issue after issue. They have few employees who go the extra mile to resolve, send employees out who don’t care or lie and said they were there, and weren’t. I couldn’t express how bad this company is in words. It’s impossible. They take your money, lie, over promise and do not deliver. No idea how they’re still in business. Absolutely pathetic.

Hi Trugreen. Can we do something about my backyard that is full of weeds. I’ve been with Trugreen for over 20 years and year after year, the service is getting worst. Trugreen technicians come regularly to treat the yard then send the bill for their services, but no improvement.

TruGreen is a disaster! I hired them for lawn care, hoping for a lush, green yard, but instead, they turned my lawn into a patchy mess. The weeds are out of control—more than I ever noticed before! Their so-called "expertise" did nothing but ruin my grass. Spare yourself the headache and don't waste your money on this company. Save your lawn and your sanity—look elsewhere!

If there was a negative star I would use it. I don't believe they deserve the one star that we have to use in order to leave a review. They left our grass a mess. I can't stand to see our grass. It looks horrible. I had to cut off services bc they were damaging our grass so bad. Brand new sod gone down the drain! You can literally tell the areas where they put product and the areas they skipped. We had a newly constructed house and very new sod. We paid for them to service our grass and now we are stuck with the aftermath. Our grass is such a sore eye in the subdivision. I do not recommend them to anyone! I was warned by several other neighbors not to use them and had to learn the hard way. Their technicians need major training.

I have used TruGreen since my yard was new 2 years ago. I have an irrigation system that is properly utilized and I pull early season weeds by hand to ensure that anything that is missed is quickly minimized. TruGreen has failed to ensure that my yard has the proper nutrients to survive and has even taken steps to destroy my yard. Here are the results. The last time they came out they destroyed my front yard by spraying a bunch of non-selective on it while not addressing the week problems on the sides and back of my house. I need someone from corporate to contact me about replacing my sod.

This company is absolutely the worst. I wish I could give them a negative rating and get back all my money paid to them and the money, time and effort that I’ve had to pay to treat and reseed my lawn which still looks terrible to this day. TruGreen recently serviced my front and back lawn and completely destroyed my grass by burning it out to a place that seems to be no return. Prior to their arrival, my grass was beautiful and thriving as I had another company reseed my lawn earlier in the spring. It was so beautiful before TruGreen arrived that people complimented my lawn all the time and neighbors were trying to get their lawns to resemble mine.

When I called customer service to complain about the issue, they had the audacity to send out the very same technician that destroyed my lawn. WHO DOES THIS???!!!!! When the technician saw the damage that he did, his jaw dropped and eyes popped out, and he said I made sure I over treated for weeds every where so I wouldn’t miss a spot. He then walked around as if he was taking pictures and I observed that he was not taking any. When I asked for a manager to come to visit and follow up with me because something needs to be done to rectify the damage they’ve done such as the company reseeding or applying sod, he snickered and said oh yea…I’ll have my supervisor come out to follow up the next day.

The very next day, I never received a call, email or telegram! When I called to follow up with customer service, I was told that a manager would come by the day after I was told a supervisor would be following up. No one ever called me or came by my home to follow up. WHAT PROFESSIONAL COMPANY DOES THIS???? When I called back TruGreen and mentioned all that transpired, I was told by the rep. that there was a note on my account that a supervisor did call me. When the rep. read the comment they said it was complete gibberish where they could not make sense of the note in the system after it said the supervisor called me.

No one ever called me, emailed me or followed up at all. TruGreen is absolutely horrible!!!! They are unprofessional, their workers are incompetent and they seem to be intentionally destroying people’s lawn from what I experienced and have been learning about their atrocious business model to destroy people’s property to get more business from others who have used their service as well. I will be sure to tell everyone about my awful experience with them. STAY AWAY FROM TRUGREEN if you know what’s good for you!!!!!!!

No stars would be accurate at this point. We have a commercial account which we have had for years. But, they have failed us this year. We have lost thousands of dollars in sod because they can't control the chinch bugs. Just look at the video of the infestations that they claim was treated three weeks ago. These bugs are happier than ever! Can't get anyone to answer the phone at headquarters and our local office is useless. Meanwhile, our 22 acres is being eaten alive!

There is no structured pricing. They charge what they want. They DO not look at your address via satellite. I called the 800 number (call center I guess) and they gave me a price based on satellite images. They sent me email confirm right away. I spoke to my neighbor who also started with them. They quoted him $300 less than me, even though his yard and shrubs are 3 times bigger than me. I called back and the rep said they didn’t properly review my property. The rep quoted me a lower price based upon visits I actually need. She scheduled the first visit and said I would get an email confirm immediately. Spent almost 2 hours on phone. Never got the email and called back. The rep told me that I will be paying original price. She saw I spoke to a rep earlier but did not see details and cannot listen to recorded conversation. I asked for a manager which she tried not to connect me with. The manager gave me a 3rd price which was not relevant to the amount of visits I need. I have a small lawn to be paying almost $1000
