Custom Home Builder reviews in Austin, Texas

Sterling built our custom home in 2017 and it is both beautiful and functional. The process was efficient and actually enjoyable, from concept to design to construction to landscaping. Everything stayed on schedule because Sterling guided us through the many suppliers involved, and therefore we were able to make decisions in a timely way. Sterling executed. Construction foremen were a pleasure to deal with. Any minor problems we have 3 years later - nothing to do with Sterling - Sterling takes care of them. Duke is a gem, a true professional.

We chose Sterling Custom Homes five years ago to build our dream home in Lakeway and we couldn’t be more pleased with their professional and personalized attention. They had a wonderful group of sub contractors and their service levels were outstanding. If we were ever to build another house, without a doubt we would use Sterling Custom Homes as our builder.

Exceptional attention to detail and well organized. The team did a great job communicating with us throughout the building process. Sterling Custom Homes care about their client’s needs and interest and are willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.

I want to say thank you to the wonderful team at Sterling Custom Homes. We have worked with Sterling for 10 years now and have had the honor to be part of some amazing custom builds! I have worked with many builders in the Austin area and there are only a handful that can execute the level of detail required to build a true custom home. Duke and Angie have created a one of a kind team and experience that is sure to impress, not to mention the dozens and dozens of awards they have won over the years.

What distinguishes the exceptional custom home builder from the very best?

For those of us that decide to build our home, choosing the right builder is key. We have built 3 custom homes over the past 35 years and were fortunate enough to have had 3 really good builders, who led us through the home building process with precision and delivered a very high quality home. Until this year we thought that was all you could ask for! 11 years ago we built our dream home with Sterling Custom Homes and we couldn't have been happier with the process and the outcome. They made sure about that.

This year we noticed that an exterior beam seemed to be sagging. Even though our 10 year home building warranty had expired we called Sterling and Duke McDowell, the president, came over the next day. The following day he had a crew there to shore the beam and start the investigative work of what was wrong. Duke and a few experts diagnosed the issue ( rain over the years), put together the fairly complex repair plan and unleashed a number of contractors to remedy the situation. A number of weeks later everything was perfect once again. I knew the cost was going to be very expensive but when I went to pay, Duke said, "he wanted to take care of it for me" and he did! That is how you know you have chosen an exceptional builder.

We were thrilled with our experience building our home with Sterling Custom Homes Inc! The entire Sterling team were a joy to work with. They were professional, knowledgeable and attentive to all aspects of the build. The quality of the work surpassed our expectations. If there were any issues at all, (and there were very few) they were quickly addressed and resolved. Thank you Duke & Angie, Chris and Chris for creating our beautiful home!

Sterling Custom Homes is a very honorable and longstanding reputable custom home builder. So far, my experience with them has been very smooth, they are honest, precise and deliver on time, Duke is the owner, a local and well respected builder. You will be very well served. They support local longstanding tradesmen that care and the quality of their subcontractors is evident. Won't overcharge.
