Electrical reviews in Austin, Texas

I am recommending this company without hesitation. Everyone I talked with, from making the initial contact and appointment to the electricians who arrived were courteous and professional. Today and Alec were the best - professional, personable and informative. Alec is an apprentice electrician and I observed how Cody interacted with him, teaching him on several different occasions. There is obviously a lot of respect and courtesy given between colleagues. These are the kind of people I like to have in my home doing work for me. I plan on having them back in the next several months to do more work.

Called Dunman, late in the day without expectation that they would be able to service until the next day. Becky went out of her way to get a tech to my home to repair an a/c breaker that failed around 1PM, b/c my thermostat sent me a error text, which meant the house was hovering around 88-90 degrees by 4PM. Cody arrived was friendly and explained the issue; made quick work of fixing the problem. Price was reasonable, could I have fixed for less myself ...maybe, but not for less than a hotel stay with A/C, and the hassle of youtubing the install and the replacement part.

I had someone from Dunman come out to replace 2 light switches, install 3 junction boxes behind fixtures that had none, and replace a light bulb. The work done was good -- no complaints there.
The cost -- $340. Wow. The guy who came was really nice and did solid work, but he seemed pretty new -- not a 20 year veteran or something. In addition to the roughly $100 per hour charge plus materials, the charge that put things over the top was a $40-$50 trip charge tacked on. After paying (I didn't want to put the guy doing the work in a tough spot), I called Dunman to ask about the trip charge and communicate my disappointment in the pricing.
They never returned my call -- just cashed the check... -
My wife and I enjoyed working with Dunman Electric. We had an outdoor outlet issue that they were able to solve easily. They also installed a few extra outlets in my garage. They were punctual, good communicators, and very reasonably priced. Thank you!

I called Dunman on Tuesday 9/11/18 to get a quote for installing two ceiling fans I had purchased. Both my mother and brother used them around 6 years ago so I didn't even think to look them up online first - this was my first mistake. The receptionist, Becky, was incredibly nice and told me that they charge $95 per fan if there is already existing blocking, or $120 per fan if there is no blocking. This seemed like a reasonable price, so I scheduled the installation for 9/14/18 and was very pleased they were able to fit me in so quickly. My second mistake was not getting these prices in writing.
I scheduled the time frame for 10am-12pm because I have two roommates that work late and sleep in, but I got a call at 9 am that the technicians would be there in 15 minutes. They were at the house 5 minutes later. Thankfully, my roommate woke up to my call to let them in and my parents were able to get to the house quickly to meet them. It was a bit stressful and I had spend 15 minutes of work time dealing with it, but I let it go because I know these things happen.
Then, when the technicians started they did not place any sort of plastic down under the first fan so my roommate's bed, dressers, and floor was COVERED in insulation (which had fiberglass in it) and drywall dust. They shook out her comforter and vacuumed the floor when they were done, but they still left a huge mess and we had to to a much more extensive cleaning later before she could sleep that night.
Next, there was an issue with the fan blades. The fan blades had two sides with different colors. They installed them black side down without asking which color we preferred. This was partially our mistake for not making clear which side to do before they started, but when asked to flip them they said, "Well I picked the black side because it matched the furniture." It is not a technician's job to decide which color blade looks better in someone else's house. He then said it would be another $80 to flip the blades. This was quite annoying but, again, I just let it go and figured I would just figure out how to flip them later.
But then came time to pay. They finished and said the total was $569.
That is well over double the price I was told. They said they charged $170/hour, it took 3 hours, and there was an extra fee because I had not had any blocking for the fans. Unfortunately, my mom did not realize what they had quoted me and filled out a blank check I had left.
They also left their ladder in the garage, as well as the old lights and trash from the ceiling fan packaging in piles in the rooms.
I was still at work but I immediately called back the office and relayed everything that had happened to the receptionist to figure out what was going on. She told me she would pass my complaints on to a manager, who would get in contact with me after she talked to the technicians. I called back after an hour of not hearing from them. The receptionist informed me my case had been escalated to the owner and he would get in contact with me, however he was at an electrical emergency and it may not be until later that afternoon before I heard from him. I never heard from him. At this point I put a stop payment on the check so it would not be cashed before I had a chance to talk to Craig.
I had to call them back myself Monday. When I finally got in touch with him he informed me that while, yes, his receptionist had told me $120 per fan, the lowest he would go for the service was $450. $125 per fan installation plus $100 per fan for the blocking.
I would strongly advise anyone looking for an electrician to look elsewhere. There are plenty of honest companies in Austin. If you insist on using Dunman, make sure you get everything in writing. In the end, I agreed to this price to just get all of this behind me and to keep from missing any more work, not because I thought it was fair or just. I truly hope Craig and everyone else at Dunman learns from this experience and starts treating their customers like fellow human beings. -
Dunman Electric responded to my call for service on a Sat to repair an electrical box next to the electric meter. They were at my house that same day to repair the box, the repair was done expertly and quickly and power restored. The price was reasonable and fair. I would recommend Dunman Electric to anyone needed an electrician to handle major jobs, or little.

They were very reasonably priced, were able to come out and install my ceiling fan the same day. They were very fast and didn’t leave a big mess. I plan on using them to replace a few more of my fans and I’m sure they’re great for any electrical need. Definitely A+ service!

I would give zero stars if I could. Had appointment set 4 weeks ago. The never showed. Left work early at waiter at my house for 4 hours waiting during their “window of time”. Called them 3x during said window. Said they would be right there “next in line”. Called again, said they needed to reschedule for the next day. Sat at home waiting for 3 hours again the next day (Saturday) never showed again. Told me they needed to reschedule again for today. What do you know. Took off work early to make my 2-4 window appointment. Here I am again sitting at home waiting on them a 3rd time. Called there office 2x today. Even confirmed with them 2x earlier this week. Promised they would be here. Guess what!? Another no call no show. What kind of business expects to gain customer loyalty when you can’t keep your promises nor communicate worth a darn? NEXT. Just called RANGEL electrical services. They are showing up tomorrow. Only took one simple 2 minute phone call. I’m gladly giving them the $3-4k new home build custom wiring job I have to them. I guess you guys don’t like money.

One of the best experiences ever with an electrical service call from beginning to end. I could not be more pleased with the expert knowledge and service I received from beginning to end. And the price was better than 3 other competitors by a long shot. This is a company you will want to keep on speed dial!

I had an electrical issue that affected my business. I scanned the web looking for help. Dunman had very high reviews. I called on Tuesday afternoon and by Wednesday at 12:30, we were up and running. I am extremely impressed with this company. Keith did great work at a fair price and I will use Dunman again when the need arises.

Dunman electric did a fantastic job. We got off to a rocky start with a slight miscommunication, but Becky took quick action and immediately made things right. The techs where both knowledgeable and professional. They even completed the job on a 40ft extension ladder (I rented) instead of insisting on a scissor lift. The amount I saved on not needing a scissor lift covered the entire bill from Dunman electric. I will use them again for my electrical needs. Refreshingly good customer service.

I cannot say enough nice things about the quality and professionalism I've experienced from Dunman. Josh has done work on 3 separate occasions for my kitchen remodel and has been great to work with. Becky has always been able to fit me into their calendar at short notice and their prices are very fair. Wish I could say the same about my other contractors, but quality is hard to come by lately.

Completely unprofessional. Hired them to install appropriate CAT cable to an upstairs office that would work with our Google Fiber mesh network and increase speeds to the hardwired room. First of all, technician arrived 3 hours LATE with no advance notice. Technician seemed clueless on how to solution my request. Ultimately, his recommended solution was to install a CAT6. It took him almost and hour to come up with the solution. Upon installation, we immediately saw a negative impacted to our network speeds. These guys did a shotty job. Lead technician had a poor attitude and honestly didn't seem educated enough for the job. On top of everything, Dunman marked up the CAT6 conduit ten times the retail price, charged me 4 hours labor x 2 technicians (1 was a trainee) for a job that should have taken <30mins. They charged me $642.20 just for LABOR!! THEN, Dunman Billed my credit card for $1055.50, without authorization, EVEN after I indicated to them (IN WRITING) that I did not agree with their invoice. Overall, a horrible experience and wouldn't recommend you doing business with the dishonest company.

Amazing service by an amazing company. I could not be more pleased with the quickness, helpfulness, & knowledge that I received. They responded quickly to my situation and helped get everything fixed during this emergency. They are great down to earth people who I like having in my home doing the work. Coudln't say enough good about Dunman Electric. I appreciate their service and will use them for years to come.

0 stars-I don’t write reviews but buyer beware-got a builder quote (they used to be reputable years ago), to install a garage fixture 18’ high, and change out 6 outlet covers. To arrive Monday 10am-no show, no call, secretary says truck breakdown, after having waited til 1 no call-promised on the way-no show-promises first on Wednesday-this time secretary says she sees driver getting in truck to head to home-no show-promises on the way-then another technician to arrive noon-he shows at 12:45 has no idea what he’s to do and only one person-no ladder for the height-says will put covers although light fixture was first important to do-takes 2 hours and charges $415! Stressed first time pregnant daughter after no shows, lies, and demanding more than double for easy work-I call the owner, who suggested will review. I get a copy of invoice that says 2 technicians worked and charged labor almost $300 plus they charged over $150 for material!! But they gave little discount for her troubles! Of course the owner never calls back after several attempts-so now the major work the fixture still needs to be installed-never again-and you lost a very large project coming up-
RUN if you don’t want double the costs and repeated no shows-they advertise on the truck on time! And they could care less they stressed out a 7 month pregnant in 106 degree weather-this owner and secretary will lie to your face-be warned. -
USE DUNMAN. Quality work, fair prices, reliable service. Need I say more?
It was right after snowvid, I decided to buy a portable generator (Honda EU 7000is) and have it provide power to my house subpanel in the event we lose power we could run most the circuits in our house (anything on the subpanel).
I wasn't 100% sure what I needed but Dunman's friendly staff helped me to make the selection and they were happy to purchase the material for me (with a deposit of course).
They showed up on time, did the job in one trip (just a couple of hours).
Now, when my power goes out I just wheel the genny around back, hook it up and flip some switches and within 10 minutes power to my house is restored (and internet, more importantly lol).
I'm running 2 AC's, all the normal lights, all the normal appliances, and a full tank of gas will last 5-8 hours on that load on 5 gallons of gas. -
It was such a pleasure having Dunman Electric come into my place to replace all the switches and plugs, install new plugs for the garage door openers, and install new, updated outdoor lighting. The house I live in was built before the Code changed to require GFCI plugs in kitchen and bathrooms, and they knew exactly what to do to fix that, too. They also added a bathroom ventilation fan and now my bathroom no longer steams up during showers!
Unlike others I'd called, Dunman Electric was responsive to my phone calls. They arrived on time for our appointment, were professional, affordable, and answered all my questions.
I love their work and especially love the new USB and C charging plugs!
What a difference Dunman Electric made to help me feel safer in my house! I'm certain you'll love them, too! -
It's rare to find a company in this type of home health industry vertical that gives the level of care and detail that I experienced with my technician, Cody, and the Dunman team. We had an AC problem and electrical issue and rather than upsell me or try to make a quick buck, Cody went above and beyond to solve the problems for a price that was 7.5k USD cheaper than what another company quoted. I will be using Dunman and recomending Cody going forward not just for my rental properties but anyone with home problems in the Austin area.
-
Can’t say enough good things about Dunman Electric. Becky worked with timeline knowing that we had to have our electrical upgrade completed asap. Cody was super knowledgeable when it came to figuring out the origin of our power source for our commercial building. He was able to complete the work same day. Kudos the Cody and Dunman Electric. I’ll definitely be using them again personally and as a contractor.

Great service. Went above and beyond. Solved all our issues and very reasonable. Malco will be our go to every time we have electric needs!

Andrew was able to fix the issue extremely efficiently at a great price point. I had a different electrician come in the morning and that company was charging me over a grand for just the diagnosis. Andrew was able to diagnose and fix the issue at a fraction of the cost.
