Tommy and his crew have done two jobs for me now and have done a great job with both. I would not hesitate to use his services again.

Unfortunately, I have to share a negative experience. We hired Tommy to trim all the oak trees in our front yard. I walked the property with him beforehand, and he assured me that he and his crew could handle it without any issues.

On the first day, Tommy came out and worked by himself, which we appreciated. However, given the size of our property, the number of oaks, and the height of the limbs needing removal, it was clear we needed a full crew — including climbers — to safely and effectively complete the job. Tommy said he would return the next day with his team.

Over the next two visits, Tommy brought two other workers who helped clean up the limbs he had cut down using a long pole saw. During our walk-through, I specifically pointed out that the trees around our house were the highest priority since their limbs were overhanging the roof. Tommy assured me his climber would take care of them.

At the end of the third day, Tommy requested full payment. Against my better judgment, I paid him in full based on his promise to return and complete the work. Unfortunately, he never came back. At first, he answered my calls and texts for about a month, but eventually he stopped responding altogether. It has now been over two months. He cashed the check and we have not heard from him since.

We own ladders, chainsaws, and pole saws ourselves — but we hired a professional so we wouldn’t have to do this work. I also feel misled about the existence of his “crew.” The work we needed most required climbers, and the job should have been handled by professionals with the right equipment from the start.

We paid over $1,000 for services that were not completed. I am posting this review both to warn others and in the hope that Tommy will reach back out to honor his commitment. If he does, I will gladly update this review.

Tommy & crew came out at time we agreed on, did the tree removal with surrounding brush without damaging fencing on 2 sides close to trees, sectioned useable firewood and stacked for later. Cleaned up with no mess left all completed in 2 hours. I tried 5 other groups who were not feasible. Tommy’s will be doing my properties.

I’ve done business with Tommy over the years for a many tree service. He was fair in the past but I do not recommend them today. For the most recent job for tree trimming and fence repair they did not finish but demanded full payment promising to return the next day to complete the other 10% of the work which was to trim and cap the 4 posts. He didn’t keep his word and ignored calls. After 72 hours I gave up. The workmanship of the fence was also poor with cockeyed screws. His crew’s conduct was unprofessional especially one guy constantly badger for a “tip”. They asked some beers. Brought them some, but still shorted me. Also tried to return extra materials I paid for store credit for himself. Fortunately Home Depot desk stopped them and informed me that the refund was going back to my card. Disappointed in their integrity.

The first time I saw what is now my home, I remember looking out the bedroom window and seeing the dry creek bed behind it. The view was really nice and that is a big part of what sold me on the house. Even so, the view was quite obstructed. On top of that, one of my oaks had so much deadwood in it that it was hanging down and touching the table on my patio. Pretty much all the trees were overgrown on my property and now seemed like a good time to finally get the trees taken care of.

I looked online for reputable tree care companies and found Capitol Tree Care had good recommendations. I checked out their website and felt like it was worth giving them a call. The lady at their office (Sorry I forgot your name! I have the others' written down!) was very friendly and got things scheduled for a quote. James, the owner of the company, came out to scope the work. He was also very friendly and clearly quite knowledgeable. He was very happy to work with me on scheduling and recommended I pay by the day for a big job as it'd be a better deal than paying per project. This worked out especially well since there were lots of little jobs. Scheduling for the work to happen went well, although my one tiny complaint would be that I never got an email or a text for the final appointment date. Thankfully I'd written it down myself.

Fast forward to last week, the crew shows up on Wednesday. Specifically, Brian, Nico and Warren showed up for this job, and they quickly got to work. Like James, they were very friendly and knowledgeable so it seems like that's part of the company culture. These three were thorough! They started out front and worked their way back. After the first day the results were already astounding. By the end of the second day I was already quite impressed. But oh boy I had no idea how things would look by the end of the third day. The view of the creek that had sold me on this house pales in comparison the view I have now thanks to these three! I was honestly dumbfounded when I first saw it. And the yard as a whole just feels so much more spacious! It's quite a transformation.

On the third day toward the end of their time here, I saw the crew was removing a lot of leaves from the property as well. This was unexpected, but really did show their attention to detail. Remember, I'm paying by the day. I was not charged any more for this. They could have called it a day by then and I'd still have been happy. This isn't the only example of that attention to detail but it's a good one. In a world where good service is so hard to find, I really appreciate the little things like that. The fact that thought went into it.

Anyway, while I don't expect to have any reason to hire Capitol Tree Care anytime soon because they've already done such a thorough job, I definitely will hire them again the next time I do need their services! I can highly recommend them to anyone who needs work done in the area!

I’ve used Capitol Tree Care for several years. James, the arborist, does a great job of watching over my 300+ year old oak. But I also use them for tree trimming and today they removed our damaged Bradford pear tree. They consistently are the most reasonable price when I get competing bids, and their work meets and usually exceeds expectations. Todays crew (Brian, Nico, and Cargil) were possibly the best we’ve used!

Working with Capitol Tree Care was a positive experience from start to finish. We did an initial walk-around with James and he quickly understood what we wanted to accomplish, giving us good guidance along the way.

His crew — Brian, Cargil and Raul — did an excellent job implementing the plan — making many shaping cuts rather than just whacking limbs off, creating an overall artistic effect.

We highly recommend them.

Have used them consistently to help with my properties trees for about 3 years. Two weeks ago the thunder storms tore my hackberry into power lines and the city left its parts all over my yard. Brian Garcia, Leo G, and Leon G, did a great job trimming up the tree and cleaning up the crazy amount of brush. Really appreciate it!

We recently reached out to Capital Tree Care for some needed tree trimming at our home. The owner was very knowledgeable and provided us with a fair quote for the required work. The crew that showed up to perform the work did a great job, they were easy to talk to and got everything cleaned up. James has come out to help me with my trees for several years. He is very knowledgable and always makes sure to address any concerns. I recently had his crew, Cargil, Brian, and Nico come out to remove a dead tree and do a bunch of tree pruning. These guys are professional, friendly, and made sure we were satisfied with all the work before leaving. Their stump grinder, Warren, has also been here a couple of times and does a great job . I'll continue to use Capitol Tree Care for my tree work.

Brian G, Cargil W, and Nico L were out before the rain to clean up two magnolias and one live oak. Brian walked us through the plan, explaining what they would do and why. He was patient with questions, and they were cleaning up in no time. We trust Capitol Tree Care to do professional work: clear communication, fast estimates, reliable service.

I am actually shocked at how easy they made it look and how blissfully quiet it all was while my wife was on a work call. They come in like Ninjas I swear.

Even my dog didn't react until they were there for over an hour or so. My yard looks beautiful and I'm especially excited for the new view & clear pathway to our pool. It also seems like they were in and out and got the job done in no time.

I was very pleased with the work that Brian and Nico did on our oak tree. This is about 70 year old tree so it was fairly large and in need of raising the canopy. They did a good job of explaining what they intended to do, asked for any input I had and made sure I understood what, if any, larger branches would need to be cut and why. They also did a very good job of cleaning up after the job and both men were professional the entire time. Their price was more than fair and I'd hire them in a second for another job.

Outstanding service by Capitol Tree Care! Emily's communication was excellent; Cargill, the young man evaluating our diseased tree, was very knowledgeable and thorough. The removal of the tree by Brian and Zack couldn't have been done more professionally; their clean-up process was truly amazing--all of this at a fair price. We have not been this impressed with a company in a very long time. True professionals.

Capitol Tree Care called after 5pm the evening before work was supposed to start, to tell me they wouldn't be there in the morning. The work had been scheduled a month prior.

Then it felt like they kept pushing solutions that worked for them, explaining all of their personal and staffing circumstances, without hearing my concerns as a customer. Mr. Burchell is a nice person, but I lost over a month to their scheduling issues, which is time that I could have had another company lined up.

I highly recommend getting quotes from multiple ISA Certified Arborists in the area. The last-minute cancellation will save me half of the quoted cost by going with Austin Tree Amigos instead.

Cargil and Brian showed up at 7:00 a.m. climbed up in the tree and did a great job. Now those big limbs over the house and driveway are cabled and secure. They cleaned the driveway and yard like they were never there.
