There are too many examples to list behind the one star rating (zero stars wasn’t an option). They were a great company before being acquired by SPS (parent company) a few months ago.
For context, we’ve had pools (and thus pool service) for the last 13 years and I would put this company at the bottom of the list of the different pool service companies we have retained. They are only our second company in the last 7 years. Since being acquired, the “service” is inconsistent and unreliable at best. We’ve had weeks where no one shows up. When they do, they don’t test the water, they just dump chemicals (or they don’t test or treat at all). I’ve spent $100’s on chemicals to offset and rebalance my pool after they have arbitrarily dumped mass amounts of chlorine, acid, etc. in a pool that was already balanced/normal. Most recently they fried the circuit board on my main control panel after dousing it with filter water while attempting to backwash (with the panel open). No response from the office. No returned phone calls. Emails go unanswered. After 2 weeks of running everything manually at the equipment and waiting for them to address, I hired another company who came out and diagnosed the issues, replaced the panel, and reprogrammed everything the same day.
Some of their techs are good, some are terrible, but you won’t get the same one two times in a row. We tried to give benefit if the doubt, but after the last couple of months, capped off by $2000+ damage to control unit and non responsiveness from the office we have cancelled our service. Ironically, a new tech showed up at the house today to service the pool. I told him we had cancelled the service to which he said he had no idea, our house was on his route list. Clearly communication both internally and externally is a challenge.
I would never recommend this company for pool service/maintenance. In addition to the $300/month for their service, we’ve literally spent $1,000’s to undo the damage they have done. There are much better options out there.
Update: I saw one of their trucks today and was reminded both how terrible this company is and that they don’t actually call customers despite what their review responses say. No returned calls or emails, and no resolution. One of the worst examples of “customer service” I’ve experienced in the past 10+ years. -
We are staying at an Airbnb that had some issues with the pool. Donny with. Swim pure pool service Came out multiple times to work with some stubborn algae and to get everything together. He was so friendly so professional, despite how stubborn the chemistry was being.

Terrible service. Stay away. Deserve 0 stars
Lie about cleaning the pool. Tech doesnt show up and then get an email saying they did. They are running a fradulent business.
Tech completely missed a service - pool ended up with algae.
Terrible communication - dont answer phone calls or emails.
Need to be reported to the state and better husiness bureau.
I understand there will be some issues and things that come up but they are not even capable of communicating in a professional and timely manner.

I cancelled my service effective immedeately today -
Last year, my prior (and excellent) pool maintenance provider sold his business to Swim Pure. After a couple of nice letters during the transition, the cracks started surfacing. It culminated last Thursday, when the pool technician did not empty out the skim basket, but the post-visit checklist said "Yes". In addition, the pump was barely pushing water due to filter cleaning issues. I could see that due to the foliage and reduced pump pressure, the water was turning green, which I brought up with Swim Pure. BTW, this time was the second time that I had to report skim basket miss to Swim Pure. First time around, the response was - "they did it - that's our process". This time I sent pictures, to which first I was told "Oh I thought you meant the pool was full of leaves", and then I was referred to their Lead Pool Technician, who was going to call me the next day. That never happened. I sent another reminder, no response. Thereafter, I found another pool company and emailed my notice to Swim Pure. Surprisingly, still no response. I have lived in Lakeway for almost seven years and I try to keep the same providers as I am quite busy with work.
Indeed, it is rather cute to see Swim Pure owner's dogs on their website - they are heralded as "greeters" - clearly at some point, the owners must have cared about their customers. In my experience, not so much anymore. So, Swim Pure just lost a loyal, timely paying customer - something they could have easily avoided. -
Spencer and the service team were great as usual. Set my appointment up as quickly as possible, showed up on time and took care of our problems. Found the problem to be less than they originally thought, fixed it for less than quoted. Great company.

My pool’s multiport valve was leaking, and I could not run my filter. Thus, my pool was starting to look pretty bad. I contacted Swim Pure on a Thursday and they were out to my property the next Tuesday.
Many thanks to Spencer for expediting my service call and Nolan for his superb repair workmanship!
I highly recommend Swim Pure for any of your swimming pool needs. -
After a frustrating warranty experience with a different company, Hayward put me in touch with Swim Pure. They called me the SAME day, sent a tech out the very next day! He fixed the problem that had been going on for months! So HAPPY to be able to use my pool again!

We have had Swim Pure for over two years. They are alway reliable. When we do have equipment issues- they handle it and we don’t even have to worry about it! Repair prices always upfront and fair. Communication is always easy.

Swim Pure has been instrumental to keeping my pool in tip top shape. I am so appreciative of their service and professionalism. Their dedication to seeing things through to get to the bottom of issues and ensure customer satisfaction is so commendable (and rarer and rarer these days with service providers). Casey Vickers in particular is a treasure. I don't know what I'd do without his knowledge and experience.

The regular service has been very consistent and our pool always looks amazing. When there is a need for a repair, they are quick to respond and get us a bid and do the repair.
-
Great company! Communication was great! Work was completed on time and as promised!

Swim Pure has taken care of major pool issues for us for more than 10 years. Knowledgeable techs get it done right the first time and they’ve walked me through fixing a few minor issues myself. Highly recommended.

This is my previous letter to the collection agency.
To Whom it may concern;
I have been harassed by this Swim Pure Pools company now for over a year.
This is my last response to them: Swim Pure.... this is what I just sent out to the neighborhood alert system in Austin/Lakeway/Spicewood and I am about to send the message to San Antonio as well. I have contacted you multiple times about your worker not showing up but you have ignored my messages. I am guessing this is going to cost you dearly.
I need some advice. A year ago Swim Pure Pools/ Crystal Clear didn't show up for an entire month. I called to report their service guy being absent to no response. After a month I fired them and hired a different service. They contacted me and billed me for the month. I emailed them back and told them I was refusing to pay for a service I didn't receive. They have now sent this to a collection agency who has been hounding me. Swim Pure Pools/Crystal Clear out of Dallas is not being honest.
This is what neighbors in Austin got back to me:

Same happened to us with the same company. Horrible work and totally lack of ethics. After two years they were still charging us for not doing their job. I really don’t understand how they still on business.

Send a letter to the collection Agency . Explain that this is a bill for service not received, and therefore it is fraud.
You will not be paying a fraudulent bill.
I would send a copy to your favorite government department that oversees such services, as well as reviews on all the review sites
pc.armsolutions - you now have been advised that this is a fraudulent claim, I have contacted you previously to explain that this is a bill that no service was provided. Do not contact me again about this matter and please wipe it off all record. I have recently reported this to the FTC and the Attorney General here in Austin; I am waiting for their reply. It is telling that others have had the same issue with this same company.
I would appreciate you responding to me and letting me know that this is finally handled.
Thank you. -
Swim Pure Pools is absolutely the best! Everyone in the office is of the utmost help! We use Swim Pure for all our pool repairs. They are knowledgeable, dependable and professional! We are very fortunate to have found them! We would like to thank Spencer for always taking care of our issues and Nolan who is a great technician!

We’ve been a Swim Pure Pools customer for 4 and a half years and they are wonderful. They were highly recommended by the previous owners of our residence and they know our pool inside and out. We love our waterfall and using the iAquaLink app. It is super convenient and we can turn on the heaters at just the right time. Swim Pure always answers the phone when we call and gives us exceptional service all-around. Thank you Swim Pure Pools for being awesome!!!

Update on 5/24/24 - This company used to be good but they are just horrible now. Got a quote for $700 to repair pool lights, another company did it for $300. But that wasn't the worst of it. Getting to talk to someone was a huge hassle, and then the guy I talked to was just a pain. When asking for an itemized quote the guy acted like I had asked something crazy, he told me that "if I gave you an itemized quote they would laugh me out of the office while firing me" so then I got frustrated, but was still going to have them out to do the repair and when scheduling the same guy told me that "I am scheduling you for the 28th (the day after Memorial Day) but guys call in sick that day so if someone can't come then there is nothing I can do about it." He knew we were in a bind because we were moving out of state the next day and needed to get the lights installed. Can't believe how downhill this business has gone from the days when they were super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Lick Creek Pools, they are who I used and it was a night / day difference dealing with them.

First time pool owner, and have had the pool about 8 years now. Swim Pure has been out about 5 times for various things and they are always super professional and reliable. They never have had to come out a second time to fix an issue with something they already fixed. One of their guys, Spencer, has been out a few times and he is just great. Super patient to explain the issue with us, and very clear on what it needs to fix and timing/pricing. I really appreciate their service and understand why our pool builder used them for all their warranty work. Awesome company, and great techs! -
Approximately 4 months ago (2024), I began using Frontline Pool and Spa services here in New Braunfels, TX. Firstly, I must say that the customer service, attention to detail and professionalism was some of the best I have experienced in the industry, thank you, Frontline. Fast forward to January/February 2025, and I am notified that Frontline has been purchased/acquired by Swim Pure. Okay cool, no issue right? Wrong.
In November 2024, Frontline had replaced the touch panel/display unit of my hot tub here at my residence as it was malfunctioning and not responding to touch. Frontline purchased the display, installed it, and everything has been great up until approximately a week ago (Feb 2025). Within the last week, the display unit has gone unresponsive and remains at a black screen, so I notified Swim Pure of this issue. Now that I am a Swim Pure customer, Swim Pure is refusing to honor any manufacturer warranty and since they do not currently "use this manufacturer" they are unwilling to contact the manufacturer, arrange for an RMA, and perform the install. I have spoken with Shirley Montgomery - Regional Manager, and she literally went around in circles as to why they could not be of assistance in this instance. Her main reason for not being able to assist the customer in this instance is that "Master Spa" is not one of the vendors that they currently work with, therefore pushing it back on the customer to instead go back to the vendor, place an order for a replacement, and then have the install completed. After plenty of back and forth she did agree to cover the labor of installing the display after I was the one who hunts down the warranty and contacts the vendor myself. I had repeatedly insisted that this is something that she, the 'Regional Manager' should be taking care of on behalf of the customer (whom Swim Pure acquired through Frontline) and they should be the ones who handle this entirely and internally to ensure that the equipment was installed correctly in the first place, and/or also to replace the defective/malfunctioning part. This should not be something that is pushed back on the customer, and this is an ever common theme in bigger businesses buying out smaller businesses and not caring or providing adequate and appropriate customer service.
Shirley was extremely defensive on the phone, insisted that I was incorrect and insinuated that I had no idea what I was talking about. She was overwhelmingly argumentative and resistant to any attempt in rectifying this issue internally. Shirley also told me repeatedly that it was "illegal to order this item" because she "was not me" and her company cannot reach out to a manufacturer "on my behalf" to "assess warranty information" for a product that was installed by the company that Swim Pure purchased.
Boooooooooo.
Some of the worst customer experience I have ever had in my existence.
I will no longer be a client of theirs, and have discontinued services as of today. Thanks, Shirley!
Stay. Away. -
We’ve used Swim Pure for years and the service is excellent. Cade has been one of the very best pool techs and deserves special recognition!!!

Their driver on highway 80 between Luling and Martindale proceeded to pass my family, and the car in front of us in a no passing zone, on a slight uphill that limited view. Then passed the 18 wheeler that was also in front of us in a no passing zone in a curve that also limited his view. After Martindale this driver proceeded to cut a semi truck off approaching a red light causing the semi truck to lock up his wheels on the trailer.
If this is how this company treats strangers on the road or if this is an example of how well they are willing to follow the law (or regulations) you would have to ask yourself how well will they take care of you and your family on a service call -
Shady Billing practices!!
In 2017 I used this company under their former name, Crystal Clear Pools, to replace my pool light. This is the only time I ever used this business. I NEVER used them for pool cleaning or routine maintenance.
In July 2022 I sold the house following my husband’s death
May 2024 I received an email stating I had past due invoices for pool cleaning totaling just over $900, for dates ranging from January 2023 to May 2023. Several months after I had sold the house. I responded to the email stating the fact that I had sold the house before the services were provided. I never got a reply.
Since then I have gotten multiple emails and calls about this past due bill that is not mine. Each time I have explained to them that they made a billing error, and that the house had been sold before those services were provided. Each time I have been told they would take care of it. Again, I never had this company clean my pool while I owned the house. Their beef is with the people who bought the house from me.
Today, 2/7/25, I got an email that they have sent me to collections. Super shady! I will of course dispute it, but what a headache they are putting a widow through.
By the way, I highly recommend Lakeway Pools, which is who I was actually using for cleaning until I sold the house.
