Love this place. Topiary utopia! I got the sense that the owners of this place have a real passion for all things flora, simply by observing how everything was layed out. It's beautiful!...and an organic approach to display is a welcome reprive from the common nurseries. Really cool to see a unique place like this exists and friendly people. A bit a everything for gardening and plant life too.

A wide selection, from herbs to houseplants, all looked over by a lovely cat named Queenie.

I've been going here for years and it's a great place to find a wide variety of plants in various growth stages, from seedlings that are perfect for terrariums to adult plants that look great in stand alone pots. I like that they have signs with information such as water/sun needs and if the plant is toxic to cats and dogs.

There's an extensive selection of gardening tools, accessories and services available on location. There are large carts as well as hand baskets available for you tote your plants around. I'd recommend wearing bug repellent as well, this is the great outdoors after all ;)

Mask wearing is strictly enforced along with social distancing. Keep in mind that the earlier you go on the weekends (before noon) the more likely you will be able to enter the parking lot straight away. Otherwise, expect to join the queue of cars waiting in the median for a spot to open up. Howeber, the wait isn't long and there is a heroic employee standing in the sun and coordinating traffic.

As a personal aside, please keep an eye on any children you bring along and do not allow them to play within the plants and bruise the leaves or otherwise damage the goods. Otherwise, there's a lovely koi pond for everyone to enjoy so it can be a good experience for any age!

I love this place!! Huge indoor and outdoor selection including succulents, common house plants, and even cacti. The staff overall were friendly and eager to help so don't worry if you're new to this. The prices are a tad on the higher end of affordable but it's not bad and worth it for the experience here. Parking was easy; just know that they have an entrance and an exit so read the signs. I would recommend this place to my friends!

Great plant store with a lot of variety and very friendly staff! I was visiting Austin and picked up a few small succulents/cacti to bring back home with me. The plants here are a bit pricey but they are all in great condition and were clearly well-cared for. I enjoyed my visit here and was happy that my purchases made it safely home on the plane. They look great in my apartment and are a perfect souvenir from Austin. 🌵✨

Such an amazing nursery. Great selection of houseplants and outdoor plants. Staff was super attentive and knowledgeable of the plants. Plants were well taken care of and looked super happy and healthy. Found the plants i came searching for while visiting Austin. Will definitely be stopping here every visit to austin. Yall have my my green thumb.

Great spot to get some excellent plants, lots of items to choice from, good prices

Great variety of succulents, bonsai, and potteries on exhibition. The yard is dotted w pond, chimes, bamboos and murals that add a quirky Austin vibe to an otherwise normal greenhouse. Staff are friendly and helpful while committed to taking care of the plants. And the cat randomly crouching by a plant and enjoying the afternoon nap is definitely a perk of this place!

What a great visit! I needed to plan for at least a 2 hour trip to look at everything. They have great variety of houseplants and perennials, yard and landscaping plants. Soils and pots and yard art! I must visit! You won’t be disappointed!

This place is plant parent heaven. Tons of indoor and outdoor plants, a gift shop with seeds, pots and all sorts of things you’d need or want. It has cute photo ops, a neat koi pond and a swing! Staff were friendly and even helped capture some great pics. I found one my wishlist plants on my first visit, and it’s become one of my favorite plant nurseries.

Great, well-trained, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. Inventory is always spot on for my garden needs and wants. Location and ease of parking make this an enjoyable and easy errand to run.

Going through college, having little money. I used to landscape. It started out as just extra cash, then became a partner in a business that catered to quarter acre to 20 acre properties, some commercial.

I became a frequent purchaser at many locations that offered supplies. While this location doesn't cater to bulk purchasers like others, it does, however, offer the little gems and hard to find items that go nicely with the native Austin weather and diverse soils found from the hill country to the lowlands, to the regular household's zen garden or apartment porch.

The staff are very friendly, and also very kind. They mix in with the plants, so to speak, and and helpful and not at all pushy.

The staff is also very knowledgeable about the products being sold. The products themselves are hearty, cared for, pruned, and show growth that is naturally occurring. This is unlike what you find at the larger chain superstores or grocery markets.

I felt like I was walking into my own little area of a.garden that I could call my own. If this place existed back when I sold and maintained landscaping contracts, the little items (or large) that could make a property unique and artistic would have made my life so much simpler.

You can pick just about anything if you are zero-scaping, or create a centerpiece to show off. All the makings are there for adding a unique touch or the very foundation of any project; retouching, rebuilding, creating, or maintaining.

This place is such a find, I spent over an hour just looking for flaws. There were none. Everything is naturally balanced.

It's a small location. Yet it lives up to its name.

Our go to plant shop in Austin. They are very knowledgeable and the staff is friendly. There stock is very healthy and great condition. They have some pretty rare plants also. Definitely will recommend. We always go at least 2-3x a month.

Update 2025. The staff here are so knowledgeable. They rival any other landscaping company as far as design and plant recommendations. I also appreciate the much larger dedicated space for natives

I haven't been to a nursery in a long time that made me gas with Wonder and excitement. I was like a little kid running around wondering what I was going to find and each different section of this expansive nursery. They seem to carry everything you might want from indoor plants, outdoor plants, succulents cactuses, tropicals, natives, organic fertilizers, beautiful pots, and of course images of beautiful artwork and sculptures throughout the place. I definitely plan to continue to come here for some of my landscaping needs as a professional groundskeeper, but I also plan to bring friends here just to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

This place is literally the best. Every single time I’ve gone I’ve had a positive experience. The people here know their stuff and they will genuinely help you find what you’re looking for and give you info. The prices are as fair as a big chain nursery in Austin that I had multiple unpleasant experiences at - this place will continue to win my business in the future. Great vibes all around and high quality plants/trees you’re not going to find at Home Depot or the like.

The selection is vast and the quality of plants and ceramic pots is superb. It's a bit pricey and the though the staff is very knowledgeable I found a few of them a bit grumpy. Still, I'd go back and I've sent others there too.

They offer a wide variety of outdoor plants, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful in answering any questions. They have a large greenhouse filled with indoor plants and a separate section with pots for both indoor and outdoor plants. Additionally, there is a shop for buying fertilizers, seeds, and more. My only wish is for a greater variety of indoor plants. Nevertheless, I highly recommend this place to anyone interested in all things plants.

Never even got the opportunity to buy something. Called on Saturday to ask if they had a specific plant in stock, said it was coming in Monday and so they recommended to come back then to get the best selection. Went on Monday and they said “oh, we haven’t done inventory so you can’t buy it yet, maybe try tomorrow” (even though we could see the plants in the back). We decided we could call first next time, called every day of the week and they kept saying “oh check back tomorrow”. Finally on Friday we called and the plants were available to buy. We went and were there 20 minutes to close, gate were closed! It just seems poorly run and can’t even buy something if you want to.

I’m an interior designer and always consistently buying plants for clients here and they always impress me with their knowledge and helpfulness. Hands down the best place for plants and pots in Austin!

I went to Great Outdoors with an area in my lawn that needed plants. I had vague ideas of what I wanted. I was directed to Aiden for help and help he did. Aiden answered my questions and made fantastic suggestions. Together we filled all my requests. Aiden was a garden chef, he knew everything about the plants. I highly recommend Great Outdoors and if in need of perennials, see Aiden.

This place has it all - the best plants anywhere near Austin, the best, most knowledgeable staff, an amazing location right on South Congress, and a complete selection of gardening supplies.

I’ve been going here for years and finally got to buy for myself after moving to town. I recommend it just for a wander - you’re going to find something to take home. I guarantee it.

And be sure to say hi to the resident parrot - it’s a very chill bird, so treat with respect. No feeding, no touching. Whistling allowed (I believe).

I’ve been a loyal customer at this plant shop for over four years. The first time I ever visited, I bought a $350 Texas Mountain Laurel, and the associate told me it came with a one-year warranty — if I wasn’t happy, I could return or replace it. Over the years, I’ve spent thousands of dollars here on soil for my garden beds, seeds, countless indoor and outdoor plants, pots/planters, gardening tools, etc.

A couple of months ago, I came in to purchase new Dramm pruners to replace my old ones, but the associate recommended a different brand instead. I trusted their advice, bought them, and unfortunately, after accidentally leaving them outside in the rain one night, they completely rusted. Even though they were supposed to be stainless steel. I tried to return them today and was told “absolutely not.” The way the staff looked at me — like I was crazy for even asking — was humiliating.

Two days ago, I bought five lantanas. I followed the care instructions exactly: same amount of water, same placement. Today, when I was ready to plant, only two survived. Rather than risk planting all of them and losing everything, I went to return them along with the pruners. I was looked at like I had just asked a ridiculous question and was told only two could be returned under their policy — fair enough if that’s the rule, but the way the five teenagers behind the counter made me feel was awful. They treated me like I was stupid for even asking. I ended up telling them to throw everything else out. I had planned to shop for more plants, but after that interaction, I had a knot in my throat and just couldn’t spend another penny there.

I don’t know how long their return policy has been like this — but for what it’s worth, I’ve never once returned anything in all my years of shopping here. It’s really upsetting and disappointing that this is how my relationship with this place is ending.

Most of my interaction was with Madison, but all the staff behind the checkout counter were rude and even appeared to be gossiping about me, with each other, right in front of me. Like teenagers do.

I won’t be coming back, and I would recommend others avoid it too.
