Landscaping reviews in Austin, Texas

One of my favorite plant stores, definitely one of the best in Austin. Helpful staff, great selection, and the best place to go for beginners who need a little direction for starting a garden (I.e. me) can be a bit pricey for some of the stuff but everything you will get here will be quality. If you know what to spend on and what to cheap out on, make this one of your stops and get the basic stuff at Home Depot.

I enjoy every visit to this garden center, it has just about whatever plant or product you want, and many you can afford! The staff are polite and generous with a chat, or heavy lifting (I need that now!) Great Outdoors is welcoming to families, and dogs on leashes. Austin owned, Austin people with jobs, so I go there and not a box store.

This place is a bit expensive. But it has a lot of everything. So you can find something you want easily.
Most of the plants don't have root rot, only a few I saw, still way better than lows or Walmart or home deport. Also, they have way more than those places, too.
It is almost like a park, it really is huge. They have a coy pond and a big swing you can use.
They have lots and lots of pots, though they are more on the expensive side of pots I have seen, but you will find what you want.
They have a whole entire greenhouse 10 by 2p foot thing full of small to large cactus. And a lot of other ones I just didn't have the time to look in. I am telling you this place is huge.
They sell cool things in the shop, like so so many different, very specific type of soils.
They have a 30 year old talking parrot that can be rude at times :/ but he is very chill still. (He said to shut up)
It smells nice here too, not the best of the best of "plant store." I smelt, but the air is still very fresh, no less.
They have a gift shop too, and restrooms -
This is one of the best plant shops around here in terms of selection and reasonable prices. The staff often approaches if you seem unsure, and you can tell they genuinely love plants. They’re knowledgeable and always able to answer any questions, which is really helpful. The succulents are cheaper and in better condition than anywhere else, in my opinion. I plan to keep going back. Highly recommended!

This place is the best place to go for plants. They have a great variety of wind chimes, pots, soil, plants, flowers and plant equipment. They have so many choices of plants from big to small and I left with two new plants babies. They have clear instructions on how to care for the plant on the white sticker on the plant pot. They have a small koi fish contraption in the greenhouse. It was so beautiful and magical inside! When they email you they give you discounts to come back and I recommend linking your phone number to keep track of the points. This place is great and I recommend stopping by!

Had a really fun time exploring all of the different plants they had, this place was so much bigger than what I was expecting, Mark was such an awesome person, he gave me amazing advice on how to pot my succulent and even how to start a pot with three different type of plants!! 10/10 definitely will be back!!

During a tough stretch for our family, as we have been contending with some health related issues, we reached out to The Great Outdoors with the hope that we might find some Christmas elves who could help us with a Christmas tree. Most years, we like to source and cut down our own tree but we were not leaving the house and didn't have the bandwidth to follow through on that tradition this year. Madison took our call, found us the perfect tree (meeting our few specifications to a T) and arranged for a delivery on the same day we called. Our delivery team was jovial, upbeat and so helpful, making sure the tree was secure in our stand and in a solid place out of doors in case we were able to bring it inside when the time was right. In the end, it has been the most lovely of Christmas trees and we think of our friends at The Great Outdoors who did their part to make sure we were able to enjoy a cozy Christmas even in the middle of our hiccups in health. Thank you, to all, for the holiday cheer, support and grace throughout this mission and happy new year! We hope to be in soon to thank you in person.

The Great Outdoors is like visiting the botanical gardens for free and you go home with some treasures for your plant family. They just had a new shipment of plants (August 16, 2025). The health and selection of greenery is unbelievable. We had to come back the next day to see what else they added and make some purchases for our green family. I found the rare Sansevieria Whale Fin and the Hoya Kerrii Variegated to add to my collection. We will definitely be back in a couple of days.

My first experience here was great! I came in looking for a few specific plants. I found some but I decided to pass when I saw a beautiful Tricolor, and a few other beautiful plants. I will absolutely come back. This is a great place to visit. Plus its not too hot right now. I forgot to take pictures plants while I was there but this is the beautiful Tricolor when I got home.

This is a really nice garden center. I've visited here a lot with my mom over the years. She's the gardener in the family. They always have a wide variety of plants and garden items. The plants are well cared for and the employees are very knowledgeable and helpful. I also love that they are dog friendly. I've brought my dog many times as well.

I recently started working with Ben at Lost Madrone to redo our front and backyard landscaping. He made the proposal process very easy! He was accommodating with my availability and was able to do a walk through within a couple days of our initial call. I had a proposal in my hands that night! I’m really happy with plant suggestions and availability. He had lots of ideas and experience working with picky HOAs.

We have completed several projects with Rain Lily over the last couple of years and highly highly recommend them to anyone planning a landscape or hardscape project. Our projects have included a full back yard overhaul, with a deck, raised steel planters, garden beds, arbor, fire pit, shed, and lots and lots of plants! From the design to the installation, everything has gone well. The designer and project managers are always available for questions and problem solving. All of the subs, particularly irrigation and carpentry, have been absolutely top notch. We now have a beautiful space to enjoy and it has really changed how we use our yard.
We walked away from a different design firm after paying for a lackluster plan that did not meet our vision even after making changes. Rain Lily's creativity, design eye, an considerations for native and well adapted plants set them apart from the start.
So glad we found Rain Lily, we'll continue to work with them for smaller enhancements until we run out of square feet :) -
Rain Lily Design and Landscape completed a project on our property last summer! They designed and installed a backyard oasis, complete with native plants and a dry creek bed that runs through our yard, solving a drainage issue that had previously turned our backyard into a mud pit! They also come by seasonally for maintenance of our landscape! They are great!

We are so happy with the work Rain Lily did to bring our vision of “Texas meets Tuscany” to life. From the outset, they understood our concept and worked closely with us to make it a reality. We increased our budget to accommodate good suggestions from Heidi and Meredith, and were glad we did. While there were some delays due to weather and the availability of certain providers, the team kept us informed every step of the way and handled challenges professionally. Not only did they fix some recurring issues with our drainage, they provided helpful advice on how to make sure it’s future-proofed, together with a smart irrigation system. Brandon, who built our deck, also really took the time to provide feedback on the design and helped us improve it from our original plans.
The end result is absolutely stunning—our yard has become the talk of friends and family, who are always complimenting its beauty and unique style. We love spending time in the space they created for us. If you’re looking for a company that combines creativity, quality, and dedication, we highly recommend Rain Lily! -
Landscape Theory Studio completely transformed our outdoor space! Their team is creative, professional, and detail-oriented—from the initial design to the final install. We couldn’t be happier with the results. Highly recommend! 🌿✨

I had an outstanding experience working with TJ and Heidi on a landscaping project for my parent’s house. From start to finish, their communication was clear, prompt, and professional—something that's hard to find these days. They took the time to understand exactly what I wanted, offered thoughtful suggestions, and kept me updated every step of the way.
The quality of their work speaks for itself. The landscaping turned out better than I imagined—clean, creative, and perfectly executed. It’s clear they take great pride in what they do.
If you’re looking for a team that delivers excellent results with exceptional communication and customer service, I highly recommend TJ and Heidi! -
I was very pleased from start to finish. I had river rocks put in & around my front yard due to the high degree of shade & having difficulties keeping grass (or anything green). They look great! Have already received several compliments. The crew showed up in a timely fashion, were professional & did a great job! I will definitely use Landscape Theory Studio again in the future!
