I definitely would recommend Van Ness Heating and Air. I shopped five different companies getting estimates on a new Heating and AC unit. I felt very frustrated with the wide range of up selling until I met Michael with Van Ness. He was very professional, really looking at my home and taking the time to explain everything to me. Not only did he save me money his crew made feel comfortable during insulation. This is a great family business who thrives for excellence and will recommend them to my family and friends. After being quoted an astronomical amount to replace a condenser, we started calling around. Van Ness Heating & Air was fast to respond, came out quickly to assess the unit, and gave us a much more reasonable quote. We are very happy with the service provided. Beyond that, Michael actually spoke to me and not just to my husband which is unfortunately a big deal to me since it is so rare. Michael is beyond professional and I would recommend him to anyone.

We called for a repair and Michael was quick to respond. He said he couldn’t find a problem and there was no trip or service call. This is the company you need total honesty for your AC issues. Prior to our buying the new system: , I requested his opinion about updating our system. He advised we didn’t necessarily need a new system but if we wanted it and could afford it he gave us his recommendation. At this time I think we made the right decision for us and for our guests to always be comfortable.

Mike Van Ness is knowledgeable, professional and honest. That may seem cliche, but in my experience, it's becoming less and less common. I expected him to come for a service call just to assess the problems with my HVAC system then follow up with a bid to correct the issues. However, he was able to assess and correct the primary issues during the service call without the need for an additional visit and, more importantly for me, no additional cost. He's my HVAC guy from now on. I would highly recommend Van Ness Heating & Air without reservation.

So impressed by the professional work which is hard to find nowadays. The workers were set to come and replace my whole HVAC system, and of course it predicted to rain on and off all day. However as luck would have it it poured all day. Surely, I was out of luck and have to wait. Wrong! To my surprise Michael Van Ness and his crew showed up and worked none stop. Michael even brought with him a tent to keep his workers dry and safe!
The work is spot on and I definitely will not hesitate to recommend to my friends and anyone else who wants good professional workmanship. It is wonderful to hire someone who
takes pride in their work.

I can't say enough how much integrity Michael has. He's now done 2 major projects for me and both were flawless and less expensive than any other quotes I received. He also took the time to dig deep into an issue we had that another company missed after 2 inspections.

I've yet to find any company for any service that I trust more than Van Ness.

Michael is very thorough! He will do the homework that other companies won't do to determine if your AC can be repaired without just selling easily replaceable parts, or a whole new system. . Mr. Van Ness is not in the business of upselling or trying to get you on a maintenance plan. He repaired my AC for $100 when another company had quoted me $4400 to install new parts and get on a maintenance plan. Yes 4400! I highly recommend letting him take a look at your AC before spending your hard earned money anywhere else.
Oh by the way, he showed up right on time.

A family member recommended Michael for my HVAC maintenance when I bought my home in South Oak Cliff back in 2021. It was an older system, and the home inspector told me, "It can go in 3 weeks or 3 years." Michael did everything in his power to keep that baby running. In March of 2025, after our AC stopped blowing cold air, he broke the bad news. Our system was done! We discussed options for an HVAC that would work well for our home and provide the best return on investment. He walked us through the whole process and was very transparent. Our new American Standard system was put to the test this summer, and our electricity bill was cut in half!

I like that Michael works for himself on word-of-mouth recommendations. Now that I'm a homeowner, there are so many companies trying to sell you things you don't need, and are "family owned for 40 years", have a fleet of 20 trucks, and train new students, blah, blah, blah. I don't have a problem with that style of business, but I prefer a more 1on1 business type relationship with a contractor. It works best in everyone's favor because he's working for his family, not 20 families. Michael is honest, straightforward, and works hard to keep your family comfortable. If there is ever an emergency, he works you into his schedule to accommodate your needs. Our dog Nugget supervised Michael's work, and he agrees! We highly recommend Van Ness Heating and Air for your HVAC needs.
