HVAC reviews in Houston, Texas
-
I purchased a condenser from this company May 2020 and have consistently had issues ever since. Initially, my 24 voltage cable was hanging outside of my house. Then, it took days for it to be fixed properly.
Next, the unit wasn’t cooling during Houston’s Summer (2021). I called and was informed no one could come for at least a week… the same day I had Jury Duty. Eventually someone came. It worked for a little while, so I called back because now I needed heat. The unit would not turn on, so my house was freezing. Then, I was told that they weren’t accepting appointments until November. They finally came out to check it out and to satisfy the warranty only for it to not work again last week.
I called yesterday for an appointment and was told that my window would be 11:00AM- 4:00 PM for today. I had a relative go to my house so that the repair could be done. However, when I called a 3:15PM, I was told that my window was 3:00PM-8:00PM. I lost it.
I’ve emailed and asked for a manager each time only to be told there wasn’t anyone else to talk to. As I write, it’s 8:19PM and of course no one showed up. I’ve called the company, but no one answers.
I really regret ever purchasing anything from this company. They are the WORST. My house is still cold and they are not responsive.
Each time I have to reach out for help my experience gets worse.
I’ve read some of these reviews that are good and I’m thinking it’s the workers writing them based on all of my experiences with them. I don’t recommend anyone use this company unless you want to be mad. -
Absolute thieves, absolute trash!!! Made an appointment for someone to come diagnose my A/C problems. Company tells me it will be a week. I schedule anyway due to it being peak season and know Companys are backed up. Appointment set for following Monday 9-1pm is the window they gave me. Company call me day before to confirm appointment for next day and arrange for my technician fee of 75 dollars. I pay them. Monday rolls around and no one shows to the appointment. I call at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm to see whats going on. Company keeps telling me they can't get a hold of the field technicians and they will call me with an update if someone is gonna come. Well no one came, no one called. Just ghosted me with my 75 dollars in hand. Garbage company. Absolutely unacceptable! Waited a week for this appointment with no A/C in my home.

Had a great experience with the Luke! He arrived right on time and offered us a fantastic deal. He was very professional and knowledgeable throughout the process. No pushy sales technique. Just a real conversation with real affordable options. I am finally getting a new AC unit. Highly recommend!
Update: INSTALLATION TIME!!! The equipment arrived on time! The install team arrived on time! Install was completed within the quoted timeframe! Everything was installed and tested prior to the team leaving. The AC is blasting cold air! Such a huge difference between the very old unit and the new Carrier unit. Looking forward to see the difference in electricity costs each month.
Advice: I should have switched out the unit years ago versus paying the home warranty each year after buying the home 7 years ago, hoping the AC/HVAC would have a total failure and they pay for a new unit. They will never give in to a total replacement and will continue to cannibalize parts from other models to make the unit survive another day. Each year for the last 7 years, my 20 year old unit was been Frankenstein'd together to continue working.
It was time to do the math.
Warranty $$ + Service call fee $ each service call + high monthly electricity due to inefficient AC/HVAC. Bottom line, why waste money trying to prolong something broken, it was time to move on.
Do some research and find options. If you get an awesome deal plus good warranty, take it.
No regrets. Thank you Luke, install team, and Efficient Air. -

Doug we’re here for my home work. He did an excellent job taking his time to explain every step of the process. He showed real professionalism while staying very friendly and polite.

Rarely if ever answer the phone calls. Been on hold multiple times and unable to get any assistance. On weekdays and at any hours. Was told I’d be called back on end of day Monday, it’s Wednesday with no updates.
Would recommend finding other options as I was told by my insurance this is the default option. -
Luke, the company representative was very courteous and highly professional. He promptly diagnosed the problem with my AC and gave valuable advices. I'm impressed with their expertise and looking forward to working with this company a long term.
Thank you so much! -
I don't usually write reviews, but this is an experience that needs to be shared. Our old a/c unit was on its last leg and needed to be replaced. I made appointments with many a/c companies for quotes. Luke came in and was able to help us get a new a/c unit and qualified for a loan. He is a miracle worker. Before he left he stated that the installer would arrive between 8am-10am. Not going to lie my wife and I were a little worried that we were getting scammed. Usually when things are to good to be true they are. We woke up and at around 9am, a yellow box truck pulled up to our house. Camilo and Steven came out and said they were from Efficient Air. They came in put down their drop cloth and started to work. Efficient was exactly what they were. They had everything installed and we had ice cold air coming out of our vent in about 2 hours. They then added the 2 extra vents in our bathrooms. They left the house cleaner than when they came. I would recommend Luke and his team to anyone out there. In this day and age it is hard to trust anyone but trust me Luke is head and shoulders above the rest. Thank you Luke. Keep helping and changing lives one family at a time.

Colton was very "efficient"! He was patient and took the time to explain a number of things about my system, options for replacement, etc. I'm super happy with his customer service.

Luke came out from Efficient air and he was straight forward with pricing and the solution for our new AC needs. I highly recommend Efficient air Houston for your AC needs.
On installation day the installers showed up on time as promised and were very meticulous in their work. They didn’t make a mess and cleaned up afterwards. Efficient Air Houston definitely surpassed my expectations on this AC install. Great job. -
Consumer Warning: Deceptive Practices
Prospective customers are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution regarding Efficient Air, Air Conditioning & Heating / Efficient Air Texas (which appears to operate interchangeably with Royal Air). My experience with this company was profoundly negative, marked by a critical lack of honesty and a severe breach of trust concerning the installation of a new HVAC system. This review is intended to prevent others from enduring similar deceptive sales practices.
Misrepresentation of Equipment
During the consultation, I explicitly requested a four-ton unit with a heat pump, a specification consistent with prior professional recommendations. Despite Mr. Rodriguez initially proposing a larger, five-ton unit, we mutually agreed on the four-ton unit and a corresponding price, formalized in a contract dated 08/10/2025. Crucially, Mr. Rodriguez provided a product brochure and circled the area indicating "Air Conditioner or Heat Pump," assuring me the selected unit fulfilled both functions and was dual-purpose. This oral assurance was provided by Mr. Rodriguez. It should be noted that the contract included a section titled "System Enhancements – A More Energy Efficient, Cleaner, Safer & Healthier Home," it is critical to note that a heat pump was not listed anywhere in this section as an extra system enhancement. Furthermore, before installation, I specifically reiterated my requirement for a heat pump, to which Mr. Rodriguez responded with the vague, generic assurance: "It is a 4-ton Carrier horizontal electric heating and cooling."
The subsequent system installation lacked the agreed-upon heat pump. This omission was only discovered in November during cold weather when the heating system failed to produce warm air (at 28F), requiring an emergency service call. A tech was not sent out to assist with resolving my issue of no heat for four days. The technician confirmed the system installed did not have a heat pump, necessitating a thermostat replacement just to enable basic electric heating. This puts me in a horrible position because my thermostat was connected to my home alarm system.
Permitting and Installation Issues
The installation process was further complicated by the company's lack of professionalism and adherence to regulatory requirements:
• Failure to Obtain Proper Permits: The installation was delayed on 08/19/2025 because the required city permits had not been pulled. I was compelled to assist the company's team by providing links and guidance on the city’s permitting process.
• Incorrect Permit Filing: The company initially filed the permit with incorrect information, stating a five-ton unit was being installed instead of the agreed-upon four-ton unit, requiring me to demand correction before installation could proceed.
Conclusion: A Deliberate Breach of Trust
I clearly and repeatedly expressed my expectation and understanding that I was purchasing a four-ton unit with a heat pump—before the contract was signed and again immediately prior to installation. Mr. Rodriguez and the company had multiple opportunities to correct any misunderstanding or state explicitly that a heat pump was not included but deliberately chose to withhold this critical information, relying on vague or misleading assurances.
The final system installed was demonstrably not what was requested or agreed upon. This pattern of misrepresentation regarding the unit specifications, regulatory compliance, and the attempt to install damaged equipment highlights a fundamental and unacceptable lack of ethical business conduct. I urge consumers to seek services from companies that value honesty and honor their contractual obligations. -
