Martin guided me through selecting all of my house plants and care routines specific to my home’s environment. 6 months on they’re thriving despite not having prior house plant experience thanks to Martin’s vast knowledge and friendly, no judgement support. Will visit Buchanan’s for all my future plant needs! Thank you!

Staff was very friendly. A lot of plant selection especially Texas Native species. I did notice a large amount of powdery mildew on many plants. Parking in pretty small so don't go on busy days. Mask are optional and everything is outdoors. I went for Japanese Maples in June 2021 but there were none. If it wasn't for the powdery mildew and parking the place would be 5 stars.

Vast collection of all kinds of plants. Selection is well organized and staff are both knowledgeable and friendly. Prices aren’t the cheapest but plants are of good quality.

Love Buchanan's, they have a huge selection of plants, the best succulent mix for planting, and are super helpful. You can even bring in your plants and ask questions. Highly recommended for everything from houseplants to garden. Photos attached of just a few of the cool new plants I found today.

Love this place ! The staff is amazing and they have many different options to choose from for my garden ! Also big shout out to a gentleman named Martin that works there. He was very helpful with his knowledge and very kind for helping me pick out the right plants ! Will be back soon ! 😄

Stopped by today looking for large planter and wasn’t greeted or acknowledged by any of the employees. It was fairly slow considering it was the early afternoon. With all of the employees that passed by me without saying anything l left disappointed. I’ve worked at a garden center before and we always made an effort to greet customers or ask if they needed any assistance. Also astounded at how high some of their prices are. I love to support local businesses but customer service was non-existent today!

Have a question about literally any plant? Martin has the answer. Martin helped me pick out the perfect plant for my light conditions, knew just how to help my angry ficus at home, and shared a wealth of plant knowledge (including historical tidbits)! Plus he’s nice and fun. 10/10 recommend

Awesome nursery, I bought several plants online that I couldn't find locally, wish I had gone here first. They had them all and bigger and for less money. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. I'll be back for more.

Easily the best plant shop in the greater Houston area. The staff here are always so friendly and knowledgeable. You can tell that the staff themselves are also plant owners. Another reason why Buchanan’s is amazing is the organization of the plants. It is easy to navigate. You can peruse through the whole shop or go directly to whatever type of plant you’re looking for. A great add on is that you can read about a plant’s care needs before buying it.

Obviously, the best reason why this place is supreme is that the plants are unique and well taken care of. We have both house plants and vegetable/herb plants from Buchanan’s. I’m terms of vegetables, we have bought anything from Thai Basil, a few varieties of kale, to even bok choy. For house plants, they have the most wonderful and exotic selections. Overall, it’s just a high quality product for a fair price. Don’t forget they carry the best organic potting soil. A little pricey but non of my plants have died since using this soil. Added bonus is supporting a local business!

The staff is very knowledgeable about how to care for their massive variety of native plants (Martin, especially), so please ask them for any recommendations. I have loved every visit I make there and encourage anyone in the area to get their plants from there!

I LOVE going to Buchanan's for any of my plant needs! The staff is knowledgeable, kind, and always willing to help. The plants are clearly well cared for, and I have made my house look beautiful thanks to this amazing place. Make sure to ask for Martin if you want to know everything about anything plant related!

Great local plant shop! Huge selection, really nice location with quality plants! I love all of the events that they do and the community support.

I enjoy the community Buchanan’s has created and fostered in the Heights. My favorite employees, Martin and Rose, are always so welcoming, helpful, and convivial. It is my favorite place to recommend to others who are interested in becoming plant parents for the first time.

First, I absolutely love the selection and plant quality at Buchanan’s Native Plants! Second, the staff are all inviting and so knowledgeable!
Martin is especially amazing! Not only does he know everything there is about plants; but he also takes the time to thoroughly explain everything and make sure that you are comfortable with the plant you were buying!

This is my favorite nursery in Houston. But there is a sales person that is very rude. Almost every time I have gone this person tells me not to buy something that I have selected. This morning they said don’t buy lambs ear because it doesn’t do well in humidity. I said oh interesting I have some in my garden already that does very well. They proceeded to argue with me about it not doing well in Houstons climate. This is not how you interact with customers.

Buchanans is an incredible Nursery and has incredibly helpful staff!! I have no experience with plants or gardening and Shai was a life saver! She was so patient and walked us through multiple varieties of plants, compost, showed us examples and walked us through how to take care of our plants! I cannot recommend this place enough and we will be lifetime customers!

If there's a place I would very much recommend for any plant owners it would be this nursery. What impresses me the most is the staff's expertise with the plants the nursery has to offer. Martin's knowledge and information about plant care, plant environment, and plant behavior was so in depth that it has made my experiencing taking care of plants substantially easier.

It really reflects on the nursery when the staff loves and cares for its stock!

I had many questions when I went to Buchanans Native Plants today, all of which were answered by the time I left. At least three people Including Angel, Jose, and amazing, awesome Natasha helped me make wise plant and material decisions.

I was so grateful Jose helped me when I was checking out. He was concerned about overloading my car and suggested I come back for more even though I spent less money. This was not my experience at another nursery.

While I was there, I found two beautiful Wakaebisu azaleas which I have not seen in a nursery for years. Before I bought them,
Natasha made sure that I had the right place for those beautiful shrubs.
