I don't like to write reviews especially bad ones, but I also don't like being taken advantage of. ACT Appliance is a terrible company and we experienced the same thing other people have indicated on their reviews. It feels like it's some sort of scam and I'm not sure who is even in charge. We were assigned to them by American Home Shield to fix our dryer. Two months and 9 appointments later the dryer still isn't fixed. We dealt with 2 different techs (Elvin and Stal) and neither one could figure out the problem. They would come to the house then say we need to order a part and come a week or 2 later. They did this 4 times for the first 8 visits. On the 9th visit he said it was the last visit so I assumed they would recommend a buy out if it wasn't fixed. Instead they marked the job complete so now American Home Shield says we need to start over. The techs kept saying the dryer vent was clogged but we had it cleaned and turns out that was not the problem. If you call ACT you can only talk to a receptionist. You have to send an email for the supervisor to call you back, but he won't. It is very frustrating! We ended up canceling American Home Shield and buying a new dryer and guess what, it works! Think twice before dealing with either of these 2 companies. Neither take accountability.

I had a great experience with ACT Appliance Repair! They came out quickly to fix my dishwasher, were right on time, and got it working again fast. The technician was friendly, honest, and professional. I really appreciate the fast, reliable service—highly recommend!

We have an extended warranty on a dryer we bought from Lowes. It started making a bad squeaking sound, so I scheduled an appointment to have it repaired. I saw that ACT Appliances was the closest repair agent, and I was nervous because of some bad Google reviews I saw.
Turns out that we couldn’t be more pleased with their service. ACT’s technician, Nick, arrived on time and was SO professional and polite. He replaced the bad roller wheel, oiled other wheels, and adjusted the idler pulley and belt – all within 30 minutes. The dryer is working perfectly.
Very happy with our experience! -
Worst company ever. Never once fixed my refrigerator and I’m still having issues with the same fridge two years later. American Home Shield assigned this company. They sent a guy who doesn’t speak English so I had to use Google Translate for an eastern European language. Beware!

Our refrigerator wasn’t cooling, so we called this company for service. Instead of refilling the refrigerant, they said they don’t carry that type and left — but still charged us—very disappointing experience. I would not recommend using this company.

You got it ACT!
Here is your review...
Decent work, they fixed my dishwasher and then they won't stop bothering and badgering you time and time again asking for reviews. Even after I kindly asked them to stop bothering me they still continue. This has continued for about a week now.
This is gotten to the point of harassment. STOP CALLING ME! STOP TEXTING ME!!
Who ever is in charge over the office needs to put an end to this! I am sick and tired of multiple daily calls and texts asking for a review. If a customer wants to leave a review they will! When the customer asks you to stop and you continue to call and send multiple text messages over and over again this is what yo uwill get. NOW STOP before I file a complaint! -
This company is beyond frustrating.!!! I have been out of a working fridge and the refuse to update me on what part I need for my fridge and when I can get scheduled.
I am stuck using them because of my home warranty, but keep complaining on how unprofessional they are.
They don’t answer their phone ever, the wait time is forever and they don’t do emails.!
I’m on hold with them currently waiting to see what the part is and when I can get scheduled for the fridge. Been waiting over week and everytime I get ahold of them they say they will respond within 24-48 hrs…. Still nothing days later! -
I do not usually write reviews, but I only hope this company can do something about the way they service people. For a starter, please, send someone who can speak English and have normal conversation. If not, then send someone who has manners and not a whole lot of attitudes. After all, we pay for your service. My dishwasher is damaged, and this guy came in my house asking me what did I do to the dishwasher? Oh I am sorry, I think I unplugged it, roughed it a little bit and put it back, so you could come and give me shenanigans. At this point, I am not even upset y’all could not fix it, or that he wrote a bad report to the insurance company. I am still amazed by the level of rudeness and bad manners of Mr. Vitalii, my awesome technician.
Anyway, thank you for all you did! -
Feel I should update the review from the prior below:
After the missed appointment, they had my repair person back within a week and arriving in the given window. He was cordial, and efficient. Found a burnt circuit board that he had to order, and just inside of two weeks they had the part and my microwave working again. I'd of course like a quicker resolution, but that's still as in line for appliance repair as I expect from any firm. Still not going to bump past 3 for the initial miss, but I'm happy with the repair.
Last:
No showed my four hour appointment window. When I called the line in the text a half hour before the close of the window (as the evening before appointment text said the line would be closing with my window and I wanted to make sure I reached someone while I still could to check on the status), it auto answered saying they would be back in office on Monday and to email for status updates. I did so, but my email was never responded to. -
After two visits, ACT was unable to repair my refrigerator. The service tech assured me the problem was the compressor, but that was not the issue. The worst part of the service received was how the tech left the wiring to my refrigerator.
See the pictures below. I am now unable to plug the refrigerator into the electrical socket.
He wasn’t professional enough to place the wires back to the way he found AND he made the repair worst than when he started. -
This has been a nightmare with this company and American Home shield warranty. This Company is the worst I've ever dealt with in my whole life. They have fixed my fridge 3 times and it only works for 3 or 4 days & stops working. I've been without a fridge for almost 5 months, this will be the 4th time repairing the same issue. Then they setup an appointment and don't show up. I have wasted so many hours of my work dealing with this company and not to mention all the money we have wasted on food to throw to the trash. The worst part is they don't care nor have empathy. I have meds that need to be refrigerated and so does my spouse and this has affected our health but no one cares. I'm definitely reporting to the BBB and speaking with an attorney. If you don't want to end up in the same predicament as us look for another company and definitely avoid this one. I only gave them a Star because that's the only way to post or else I would put no stars because they deserve not even the one.

ACT appliances came to check my refrigerator and said it requires part. Made me wait for 10 days and then came back and said it does not require part and they removed dust and all from the back of the fridge and said it is all good and left saying the fridge is get to temperature in 24 hours. The fridge never worked. Very unhappy with their knowledge, response time and service. Would not recommend.

Wish I could leave negative stars. A tech came out ( selected by our warranty company) to look at why our oven wasn’t heating correctly. He dismantled our oven and stove and said the bottom heating element wasn’t working and he’d order the part. One week later ( oven and stove has been inoperable) we receive a text, not a phone call, stating they can’t finish service on our oven. Here we are a week without and oven/ stove with no explanation. When I call the main office to insist the tech come back to fix what he dismantled, the reception says the tech claims he never touched the oven and he won’t be coming back. I called a few times asking for a supervisor but they keep sending texts saying they are done with the service and to call someone else, BTW Thanksgiving is day after tomorrow.

I had a positive experience with ACT. They were dispatched from American Home Shield and I found them punctual, professional, and knowledgeable. Aleks was very thorough and went above and beyond during his two visits to my home. Very pleased.

This company has been a disappointment! All you reach is a call center in another country, then they pitch jobs out to random contractors. It has now been a months since our fridge has been down. They have come out and performed 3 repairs, no resolution. Then every time they schedule to try something new it takes a over a week to get back out.
AHS is also a joke! They never team up with legit companies. They always hire 1-3star companies that usually are new or haveless than par reputations. -
Extremely Unprofessional and Frustrating Experience and incapable of doing any repairs.
I’ve had one of the worst service experiences with CT Appliances. They came to fix my dishwasher four separate times and still haven’t repaired it — after more than two and a half months!
The first technician couldn’t even remove the dishwasher, so I had to hire someone else to do it. When they finally came back, they said they needed to order a part. They returned to replace it, then said it needed another part. After installing the second part, they informed me that the first part they had installed was refurbished and not working, so now they needed to come back a third time to replace it again.
To make matters worse, the technician who came to my home barely spoke a word of English and had to text someone else for instructions during the entire visit. I called the company several times asking for updates — no one would return my calls or give me a clear answer. Finally, they said they’d send an “experienced” technician on the fifth visit. My question is: Why didn’t they send an experienced technician in the first place?
It’s been weeks, my dishwasher is still sitting in the middle of my kitchen, and the issue remains unresolved. This company has caused me nothing but stress and frustration. I strongly recommend avoiding CT Appliances at all costs. -
Wow, I’m actually impressed a 2.2 Google rating? Honestly, I thought it’d be lower. This company is pure garbage. It took eight or nine visits (I lost count somewhere between the excuses) and I had to rearrange my entire family’s schedule just to accommodate this worthless repair circus. Sure, the microwave is finally working, but good luck trying to talk to a manager they vanish faster than the appointment windows they miss. Customer service? Never heard of it. Just absolute trash. If I could give one star, I would but really, I’m wishing for a black hole rating where this company can go and stay forever.

Do not use!!!!!!! Our home warranty company contracted them to fix our dishwasher. In the process they broke one of the brackets and used zip ties as a fix. Then lied to our home warranty company causing us to foot the bill to purchase replacement parts and all of the time and energy spent locating the correct parts.
-
FOUR no-show appointments! ACT was dispatched through American Home Shield to replace a pump in our dishwasher. The amount of time we took off from work waiting for the technician to not show up could have bought us two new dishwashers. Poor communication between ACT, AHS, and the technician. Do not hire this company, and if your home warranty assigns them, ask for someone else.

Very disappointed would not recommend. Act was sent out by my home warranty company in 2024 to fix a built in microwave door back in 2024. When they came they adjusted it and caused the door to become very tough to open. Fast forward to the end of 2025 and the door is giving issues again. I paid a new deductible only for them send ACT back to my house this time for them to say that its not normal wear and tear and to deny the claim. I finally decided to google ACT only to see that they have an obviously much deserved 2.2 star rating here on google. to add insult to injury, the person doing the actual diagnosing didn't speak good English and the person translating for him clearly didn't know much about diagnosing therefore there was a double disconnect between me and the repair. My advice to to make sure you vet the repair people before you allow

Worst company ever.
They are the authorized contractors for OneGuard Home Warranty (which has sadly also become the worst Home Warranty ever).
Technicians are pleasant but inexperienced and don't pay attention to detail. Don't check if multiple parts have failed and leave after shallow diagnosis.
They possibly source their parts from China directly because a part available at very reasonable price from Home Depot with free next delivery is slated by them as will take 2+ weeks to get.
Act hides behind an answering service and keep delaying repairs.
When technician does arrive with the 1st part, he tries to make off with "I changed it, everything good now!" but when forced to test the appliance (GE Washing Machine in my case), finds appliance is still dead, and after more checking (which should have been done the first time), says "Ordering part! Will come soon!" or words to that effect.
After which you have to keep chasing Act Appliance who say "We are waiting for approval for ordering part" and when you check with OneGuard you hear "We approved the part order" and check back after 2 days with Act and again hear "We are waiting for approval"...
I even offered to buy the part myself but they wouldn't take me up.
Bottom line:
Don't take OneGuard Home Warranty
Don't engage Act Appliance for any repairs
