From start to finish, working with Colvin Electric has been a wonderful experience. Ivan, Jake and John were on time, professional and clearly very skilled. The work was completed ahead of schedule and looks amazing - completely transformed the space. I now have a clear go-to when it comes to electrical work and will be recommending them to friends and family in the future.

I've talked to a few companies about repairing a couple of misbehaving power outlets at my rental property. Most other companies work on an hourly rate, somewhere between $125 and $140 at the time. Colvin told me they charge a trip fee of $50, which is then credited back if I use them to do the work. When I asked how much the work would cost if it ended up being a loose connection, they said it would be just the trip fee.

I thought this was a good deal but it was too good to be true. When their electrician arrived he'd sent me an estimate of $325 even before he diagnosed the issue. This was their standard fee for this type of issue, he said.

I asked another vendor to repair it and paid them an hour worth of fee as expected. Bottom line: use Colvin if you don't mind overpaying. Otherwise, hire someone else.

To be fair, working with this company up-front was a good experience. My call was answered in a timely manner and I was given a window from 2pm-5pm within about a week for a tech to come out, assess the issue and make the needed repairs. The tech did come the day that was scheduled and I received good updates about that.

The communication from the tech about the charges though was very poor. I could not take a call while I was at work, so I asked to have the info emailed to me. What I received was an invoice with very little detail on the costs of goods and labor with a flat $500 charge. I felt I had little choice but to get the work done for my tenants, but after calling around the charge for the work performed was high vs. the competition. I believe I could have had this work done for half of the flat fee charged.

This isn't a terrible company, but you may find better luck elsewhere. Buyer beware.

We needed two electrical outlets installed in our closet. I had called and emailed other companies, but no one responded to this "small job." I found Colvin through Google and requested an appointment online. Ivan showed up on time, was very professional, and did a wonderful job for a reasonable price. I would highly recommend!

We had a great experience with Colvin Electric and can't speak highly enough of Ivan Torres. He was friendly, professional, and very communicative and responsive throughout the service process. We called Colvin Electric because we'd lost power to one room in our house. They came to diagnose that problem and we also had them replace our old Federal Pacific breaker panel. They did a great job and we are grateful that all of our electricity is working again! :)

Michael Walter and his team mate showed up ready to work and explained me their plan for the work. I have two dogs and they worked out a way for them to get the work done while I moved my dogs around the house. They were incredibly great at communicating every step of the way as well as unexpected findings.
Before the appointment, I worked with Renee and she was awesome as well communicating and answering all my questions before the appointment.
Over all they are amazing and did great work!

Colvin electric was incredible. I needed a fixtures done ( and on a 22.5 foot ceiling) and I also needed some options. Micheal Wallace put together a bunch of options for me to review and I was able to select what worked for me.

Once time came to the work, Michael and Travis Colvin ( owner of Colvin Electric) came out and got the job done extremely well. They’re super friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. I would use them again in a heartbeat!

So happy that Ivan Torres from Colvin Electric could make it for our appointment even though the day got away from him. I also appreciate the communication from Renee, who stayed with it when it looked like we may have to reschedule. When he arrived - after closing time - Ivan took his time, talked me through his approach, and helped me understand the basics of the issue. The best part? He fixed our problem! I'm a fan.

Colvin Electric was recommended by a smaller company that was too busy to make a timely appointment. Colvin was very efficient and responsive. They use customer contact tools efficiently but are also easily accessible by phone. The technician they sent, Hayward Smart, quickly sized up and diagnosed our electrical problems even though our old building has gone through multiple retrofits and has not-too-well-documented wiring. Hayward got us up and running within about three hours and helped us check out all our processing equipment, air conditioners and lights to be sure the problem was solved. He got good reviews from our employees for listening to their concerns as he diagnosed and resolved the problem.

We'll add Colvin to our list of trusted resources that help keep our company serving customers in the same responsive and effective way as Colvin has.

We were impressed with the ability and willingness of Colvin and of our tech Ivan to tackle a job that two other electrician companies were not willing to undertake: fixing our old whole-house fan. The work was done promptly and at a reasonable price. We will definitely consider working with Colvin again and would recommend them to others.

Colvin Electric was very responsive and quick to schedule service. The electrician, Hayward, was extremely helpful and courteous. He was on professional and on time. Hayward was able to resolve the issue quickly and even offered to assist with installing an outdoor cover on an electrical socket. I would highly recommend Colvin Electric and will be working with them again whenever I need electrical work on the house done.

Prompt and convenient scheduling was my first experience with Colvin Electric. On the day of service, I was impressed by the notifications 30 minutes beforehand to inform me that the electrician, Hayward, would be arriving soon. They also sent a pic, bio, and link to track his impending arrival. As a dog parent, this tracking information was very valuable. Hayward completed the job efficiently and thoroughly and was extremely easy to work with. Altogether, this was a positive experience, and we plan to use Colvin in the future.

Haywood Smart was our electrician this time (our third time using Colvin for projects on our property). He was excellent, listened to our requests and understood the complexity of our system quickly (multiple solar installations, battery backup, etc.). The work was done quickly and precisely. Colvin continues to be the best (period) and the prices are excellent.

Colvin electric provided a great experience from the estimate through to completing the job without any surprises or additions. I needed to have a 240 volt line and outlet installed to my garage. Hayward arrived on time and was accommodating for my family's morning schedule. He completed the work efficiently and the whole installation looks great. Hayward also left me some extra line to handle any future upgrades I may need neatly tucked up. The new line has been working flawlessly

Colvin provided updates by text message and email when your electrician is on his way with a photo so you know who to expect. The quote I received was reasonable and much better than the first quote I was given from someone else.

Hayward was knowledgeable, affable and very courteous. He arrived on time, did his work quickly, explained the features to my wife and I and cleaned up thoroughly.

Had them remove the fans for sale of house. They estimated between 11am and 2pm, called said he was ahead of schedule and asked if he could arrive earlier, but of course, i said. Was here at 10am, very professional, took down the fans, changes the outlet and was exceptional and methodical. Only took 30 minutes. Great service I would recommend!!

Hayward was great. He installed a 240 outlet exactly where we needed it in our garage. The work was done well and completed quickly accessing the main breaker and running line through the attic. Much appreciated!

I selected Colvin to perform several tasks that we've wanted completed for quite some time:

-Sconce installation in the master bedroom and upstairs common area
-adding a third light switch to the upstairs hallway.

The experience from start to finish was very non-eventful in a delightful way. First they seem to be one of the few organizations that actually use their contact us page. Second, they always arrived well within the arrival window. Additionally, they send.a picture of the technician that will be working with you.

Even the organizations they contract with performed above my expectations. The holes that were cut into the wall to run the electrical work have been repaired and I honestly can't tell where the replacement ceiling blends in with the existing. Additionally, the person that fixed the ceiling Dexter'd out my master bedroom to protect everything from debris.

I would highly recommend Colvin for any and all electrical work.

Hayward was so patient, detail oriented, prompt, timely, and a great communicator! He was friendly, kind, knowledgeable and had great people skills! Professional all the way! We were so impressed with Hayward and Colvin Electric! I had my dishwasher serviced as part of my lowes warranty. Service was excellent and the response time was one day to the next. The tech was really friendly and explained everything. He ordered the part and came back 2 days later and installed it. I am very satisfied. I think these low reviews are due to having Home shield warranties on very old and obsolete appliances. You cannot blame repair techs for todays short life products.
