I am a landscaper. I own a different company. The owner of this company is one of the most honest and quality minded businessmen I have ever met. You cannot go wrong with VHS.

VHS sis an incredible job with our landscaping and they were a pleasure to work with.

One bad review speaks volume, and we wish we would have listened to the previous one written with 2-stars. Chris started out nice, but after a couple of weeks, he became rude, dismissive, and extremely condescending in his tone. He would take days to respond to emails. And although he insisted that we could “call him any time”, he often made us seem as if we were a nuisance when he finally picked up or decided to call us back. The final decision to no longer continue with this company was when Chris yelled at my wife (over the phone) for trying to give him our deposit. First of all, who gets upset with someone for trying to pay them???? Secondly, who did he think he was talking to? I knew that the best thing for my family was to dissolve this toxic company from our lives. As previously mentioned by another customer, the communication (or lack there of) was beyond horrible.

I used them for the first time to "rehabilitate and resod" about 2,000 sq ft of lawn at a house I was selling (it was the ALL the grass). There were two layers of dead grass from where someone resodded on top of existing sod. VHS Landscaping did a great job of cutting out all the grass and some of the topsoil, rebuilding the soil by layering in fresh compost and soil, and then installing new sod and plants. I knew exactly what I wanted and they did a great job of it. VHS isn't the cheapest option, but they were reasonable price for professional work. Picking the "cheapest" option is how the yard ended up with two layers of dead grass in the first place. Lesson learned: Use a professional landscaping company like VHS.
P.S. - They also put in a path of larger pavers and crushed rock on the side of the house. Did a real nice job. -
Update: The boulders and dead plants were replaced; thank you VHS. To clarify, I would have understood your situation if it was just explained to me when I reached out several times over the course of 3-4 months.
I received several quotes to redo the landscaping for my front yard and I ultimately chose VHS for the project. VHS was reasonably priced and, something I didn't think about, they said they would replace plants that didn't survive (within a given amount of time after project completion). Overall, I was very impressed with the work that was done. The workers were very mindful of keeping the work-site tidy. It was nice to have a one-stop shop as they had a professional work on the sprinklers during the project. Also, the landscaper was very knowledgeable and helpful in planning the layout and giving ideas to my vision. In February, after the project was done, I asked if the two new gold boulders could be replaced to better match the new landscaping rocks (grays/whites/browns) and our pre-existing boulders (white). After many attempts, I have gotten nowhere on this so I've given up on that. In April, I asked for ~6 plants to be replaced. The plants honestly were dead to begin with and I think just one of those plants made a comeback. After following up several times since April, I was told each time that they'll "put me on the calendar". I've asked to just give me a date, even if it's booked months out, that's fine with me. I was told to "research plants to replace the black footed daisies" because they are not lasting. I'm still not on their calendar. I realize it's a small project and I put no rush on the timeline, but I'd like some sense of customer service because it's lacking post-project. If I were to give the company a rating during the experience/project, it would be 5 stars but I'm left as a frustrated customer. -
We recently had VHS landscape our front yard and couldn't be happier! Sean and his crew were amazing and completed the entire job within 3 days. Everything went smoothly from the initial visit to laying the last paver. I highly recommend VHS.

I highly recommend VHS Landscaping!!! My husband and I are so glad we chose VHS Landscaping over a different "independent" company! They just completed our front and back yard project (designed by Chris Verme; he listened to what we liked and went from there) and it turned out more beautiful than I imagined! The plants he chose are perfect and beautiful. The attention to detail, care in keeping the steet passable, careful not to block any mailboxes, and have exceptionally professional crews, including the office staff (esp Kathy)! They also left the driveway and street clean after every visit. The attention to detail was awesome! Here's a couple of photos, but will add more when things bloom in the spring! Thank you VHS!!!

If you are looking for top of the line outdoor living space enhancements, call VHS Landscaping. After a major home remodel, it was time to give our entire yard a makeover. Alma Ziu, VHS landscape designer, created a fresh, new, outdoor plan which addressed all of our needs (and challenges) including dog issues, trouble spots due to shade or excess sun, drainage issues, drought tolerance and a desire for year-round color. She is a great listener and visionary and added everything we hoped into our plan. VHS Landscaping then swooped in and completed the entire job in less than two weeks inclusive of a brand new irrigation system, stone walkways/hardscaping, a stucco mailbox, new sod, trees, shrubs and more. Chris made some great suggestions along the way which further enhanced the plan. We were amazed at their efficiency, productivity and dependability each day as we watched our yard quickly and thoroughly transform. VHS Owner Chris Verme is professional, passionate, knowledgeable, friendly, was on sight daily to check on things, and has a great relationship with his entire staff. In addition, well after the job completion, Chris still stops by to check on and fix things as needed. He and his staff are committed to 100% customer satisfaction and we highly recommend VHS Landscaping for your future outdoor living space needs of any kind.

The 5 star reviews encouraged me to call VHS for a large landscape project and I am so glad I did. I have had some poor experiences with landscape companies in the past but Chris (the owner) clearly prioritizes making sure his customers are happy and getting the best value out of their investment. He is gifted at managing the project to meet the final vision and being receptive to any questions or concerns. We received daily communication to understand what was completed that day and what was next.
Our yard was sloped and lumpy, and quite depressing. We really wanted some privacy and to level the yard for playing. All while managing any drainage issues that could arise. Jerry drew up a full master design, and we were blown away with the creativity and consideration he obviously put into it. From there, we started narrowing the project to fit into our budget.
The scope of work included a full front and back yard renovation including new sod, a patio addition, pergola, lighting, irrigation and drainage, outdoor kitchen, and all new plants/stone borders. Our yard is now our favorite place and we have received a ton of compliments from neighbors.
The process from design, budgeting and planning the scope of work, and then completion of the work took several months so my suggestion is to call and schedule a consultation before the spring busy season. -
My husband and I recently got our backyard landscaped by VHS Landscaping. Overall, our backyard looks good and we are fairly happy with the result. Our project manager, Sean, was very friendly, however, I do wish communication with him had been better as we had some issues due to miscommunication. The landscaping crew did a great job and was very accommodating even when it came to a few last minute changes to the plans. We also had a very positive experience with their carpenter, Gary, who built a large trellis for our backyard.
All that being said, I wish the contract had been clearer regarding the materials that VHS Landscaping uses in their landscaping projects. According to the verbiage of the contract, we were going to get four “cedar trellises”. However, the posts for the trellises, it turns out, are just treated lumber. If the contract lists materials to be cedar and hog panel, includes a photo of a trellis that is made of 100% cedar (including the posts), and the project manager insists that the trellises don’t need to be stained because they are made of cedar, then I don’t think it is unreasonable for me to expect to get cedar trellises. The design of the trellises/trellis is also not what we were told we were going to get but that is a whole other discussion.
Another issue we had with the contract was that all of the individual payments listed at the end of the contract added to a good bit higher amount than what we were quoted. I’m glad my husband and I checked the math before sending in the final payment.
In addition to the items listed above, I wish VHS Landscaping had given us more options when it comes to landscaping rock colors. I had wanted the lightest color river rock for our planter beds, but it turns out that the lightest river rock color they had was fairly dark. It looks nice and my husband likes it but it certainly isn’t the creamy white/light color I had wanted. Hindsight, after checking their account on Instagram, I am quite sure that they actually do have some lighter color options. I am not sure why our project manager chose to not give me more options.
I also felt that I had to be more involved in the process than I had hoped. Had I not been able to stay home during the landscaping process, we would have ended up with a fairly different design from what I had expressed that I wanted. As it is, some of the plants are different from the ones quoted, and some design elements not as discussed, but at least the majority of it is as I had hoped. Again, all of this could have been avoided with better communication.
Like I said, we are overall fairly happy with the look of our back yard. However, even though the work crew did a good job, due to the items listed above I cannot give VHS Landscaping more than 3 stars. I would likely not hire them again solely because I feel like they were being deceitful, intentionally or not.
EDIT: Unfortunately, I have been very busy over the past few months and, therefore, have not had a chance to write a detailed reply to Chris, the owner of VHS Landscaping. However, since I received a copy of his email publicly as a reply to this review, I’d like to also publicly point out that I do in fact understand mathematics and the fact that an algorithm might change the pricing of certain items if the quantities are changed. The problem was that the individual payment amounts did not add up to the total amount quoted. In other words, had we not checked the numbers, we would have ended up paying more than the quoted total amount. I have put together a spreadsheet that highlights this issue, and I sent it to the project manager, Sean, before I sent in the final payment. I’d also be happy to send this same spreadsheet to Chris once I have some more free time. -
VHS Landscaping was wonderful to work with! The entire process was easy, professional and well beyond my expectations. From the first phone call to schedule the appointment to the final completion. Galbo and his team were incredible and made our dreams of a backyard oasis a dream come true. The crew cleaned up daily, did extra work to make the space really special, and were very professional and on time. Galbo is very creative and fun to work with! I highly recommend VHS to anyone looking for high quality, professional landscaping. Awesome experience!

Superb customer service. Conscientious, skilled team members. Work to hold costs down while meeting functional and esthetic objectives. Most recent job was my second major VHS landscape job over the past 10 years and both following significant foundation repairs. This recent work involved drainage support and functional, low maintenance, appealing landscape on neighbor's side of our zero-lot properties and resetting patio stones in 3 areas around the house plus refreshing areas installed 10 years ago. Crews were very comfortable to have on site; worked quickly and cleaned the area at the end of each day, took care to protect properties while doing work. Patio areas beautifully laid and level. Chris was able to get this job scheduled on a short timeline so yards could be used for entertaining out -of- town guests. Very, very satisfied. Good value. Recommended without reservation!

We have lived in our house many years and decided our landscape needed a facelift. We did LOTS of research on landscape companies and ultimately contacted VHS Landscaping. We met with Diogo(everyone calls him G) and told him our concerns and ideas. He listened to exactly what we wanted and what would work best in our yard. G came up with a plan that suited our particular needs. G was very responsive every time I called, texted or emailed. I really appreciated that. Ciro and his crew showed up exactly when they said they would and were very efficient. Our project took about a week and a half. Every day they left our yard and surrounding areas cleaned up. I had warned our neighbors it could be a mess but that was totally unnecessary. We would highly recommend VHS for all your landscape work. They were very easy to work with and listened when we had questions during the job. You can't go wrong hiring VHS. Our yard is a lovely oasis once again. Wonderful experience!

There's truth in first impressions, and from the first meeting, Chris Verme communicated a sense of high quality, value, impressive professionalism, responsiveness and punctuality. Trust is perhaps the most important key to any relationship - and if you agree with me, VHS Landscaping is the company for you. Throughout the entire project, Chris and his crews were excellent in every aspect of their work. The finished product is as good as every bit of communication about how the project was going to end up looking from the beginning. On a scale of 1 to 10, VHS Landscaping scores a 10 in every category. I am usually a do-it-yourself person, which often means that you hold someone else to the same high standards that you hold yourself to when completing work and projects. VHS Landscaping holds themselves to those same high standards of excellence. I had a complete overhaul of my yard, including the sides, front and backyards - all Rain Bird products for sprinkler system; also included complete drip system for all of my plants, shrubs and flowers. New sod, hardscape and borders. All we needed to do was give Chris Verme our general idea of what we wanted and he and his crews delivered the end product as designed.
Chris, I truly thank you for an outstanding job from beginning to end! -
Just an incredible experience all around. Professional, knowledgeable, reasonable, elegant, and attentive. The best in San Antonio, I am sure.

We have never encountered a more professional, detail oriented and quality company. We had multiple companies working on our property at the same time and VHS Landscaping stood out by far. They were the first ones here and certainly the hardest working. Not a detail went untouched and they even followed up a week later (on site) to make sure everything was going well and to answer any questions. We can’t recommend VHS enough and will most certainly work with them on any future projects.

Sean and his crew were excellent from start to finish.
My wife and I were in unknown territory when we found out that we had foundation issues and one of the reasons behind it was the slope of our backyard. After the very first consultation with Sean, he provided a great plan of action, was thorough with his explanation and was a call/ text away for any questions/ clarification we needed.
Not only was Sean remarkable but Ciro and his crew were amazing. They were professional, timely and incredibly thorough with their work.
We couldn't be more pleased with the overall experience and service we received. We highly recommend VHS Landscaping for all your needs! -
VHS landscaped my back and side yards last year and my front yard this year. They did a fantastic job. The owner, Chris, was personally involved from design to completion, and his crew is exceptional. Chris had creative ideas about design and plant selection, and I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Pricing was competitive, and the business side of the projects was handled very professionally. I highly recommend VHS - you won't be disappointed.

Chris was helpful, professional, knowledgeable, and very patient with the process. He listened and gave practical and informative advice. He helped the process go smoothly. Byron and Cyrel were professional and courteous. They are all assets to the company. This company goes the extra mile for their clients.

We contracted with VHS for a full backyard redo. VHS came out a delivered a full set of design plans, and worked with us to make sure it fit our needs. This was a large and complicated project (at least for us!) involving concrete work, masonry, lighting, sprinklers, landscaping, and construction. I couldn’t be more pleased with how well it all came together and the professionalism VHS managed the entire project from start to finish. Our yard looks amazing, highly recommend VHS!
Edit: our experience with VHS was so good, we brought them back in for another major project. Again, VHS perfectly executed a vision for our front and backyard. We love our new space, couldn’t be happier! -
I had a great experience working with VHS on a large-scale landscaping project for my home. Chris, the owner, is professional and stayed in constant communication with me to make sure things went smoothly and got done in a timely manner. The project was completed within a week and I couldn't be happier with the results. Highly recommended!
