We had an excellent experience with HVAC Cowboys (we needed help with our mini split and we called them based on their excellent reviews). Henry Newsom was our technician and he couldn't have been more friendly and knowledgable. He explained everything he was doing and diagnosing thoroughly and documented it all with excellent notes, photos and video. We were extremely impressed and highly recommend him and the company.

HVAC Cowboys came out same day to address our A/C issue. Our technician Jorge quickly diagnosed the problem, fixed it and then came back the next day to study and confirm all working properly! Will definitely use them again!

I had an amazing experience with this HVAC company! Noah was incredibly professional and knowledgeable. He took the time to walk me through a detailed estimate for a new HVAC system. He explained all my options clearly and answered every question I had. I don’t normally leave reviews, but I highly recommend going to the Cowboys for a new system.

Worked with Phillip over the phone on estimates and lead-times for some HVAC equipment. HVAC Cowboys was professional, fast, and very helpful. Would definitely keep them on your short-list of HVAC specialists to work with. Hoping to not need repairs again in the near future but if we do, will reach out to them for sure.

I don’t normally leave reviews for good service because of review fatigue, but the company and Phil in particular were great from start to finish. Got the dreaded realization that the AC wasn’t cooling adequately and realizing I would have to call someone. Other namebrand hvac companies in Austin literally quoted me $80K once to replace the whole system after a minor issue a couple years ago. Anyway, same day, $450 dollars later, and no upsells, my ac is cranking again. 5 stars.

I own a 5-plex in Hyde Park, Austin and had a witer check performed on the central AC units. HVAC Cowboys technician, Phillip, arrived on time for the appointment and performed the service quickly and efficiently. He was friendly and courteous with the tenants who had met Phillip during two previous visits. I've been an Architect for 44 years and have worked with dozens of HVAC techs on both commercial and residential projects. Phillip is among the most knowledgeable, friendly and professional I've worked with. Highly recommend!

Breeden was super helpful to my mom, Kathy! Another company came out twice to come out and “repair” her ac system but it continually failed. Breeden was referred by a neighbor. Not only did he came out quickly and fix the problem immediately, he was also kind, professional, and took the time to explain everything to my mother. HVAC Cowboys was the second service company I had out after a mini-split I installed myself for my shop lost all refrigerant (my fault) . The first company despite asking me when I made the appointment all the details, didn't pass any of that on to their tech. When he came out, was surprised it was a mini-split, and said he didn't have the right refrigerant, the right fittings and a crappy, "I can't work on" this attitude and left.
So I called HVAC Cowboys. Their service tech, Jordan, called before he came out, listened to what had happened, asked questions and made sure he showed up with the right refrigerant, right fittings and the right attituded. Next time I need a new system for the house, I'll call HVAC Cowboys first.

Incredible response and professionalism. I am fortunate to have one of their professionals, Jordan, in my neighborhood. I’d seen his HVAC Cowboys van in front of his house and decided to take a chance and knock on his door when we realized our AC had gone out and the temp in our house was rising quickly. He dropped everything to come over, thoroughly checked everything inside and outside the home, and diagnosed the issue. It turned out to be a simple fix but only due to Jordan’s knowledge and prompt response. He also took the time to explain everything in easy to understand terms and saved us a ton of money. I’ll be using HVAC Cowboys from now on

Cowboys came out 10:30 on a Saturday night in sub zero temperatures, got me up and running. Then I needed a inducer motor, they installed, bad from the factory. They took care of me in timely fashion. All reasonably priced. Couldn’t be happier. Thanks hvac cowboys. Rusty F

Quality product (Mitsubishi mini-split) well installed (AC + heat) at a competitive price. The installers were competent and thorough. HVAC Cowboys owner was responsive to questions both before and after installation. They are anxious to please, to give quick service, to be there for any follow up questions. Note that HVAC Cowboys is NOT the similarly-named, very low rated, and Better-Business-Bureau-skewered company in San Antonio. I suppose when you include the word "cowboy" in a business name in Texas, you invite confusion; but for clarification, HVAC Cowboys in the Austin area is great.

Was surprised when I could speak to a tech at 8:30 on a Friday night. He tried to help diagnose it over the phone, but I did everything he suggested and still no AC. He showed up on time Saturday morning and found the problem (a clogged drain) within a few minutes. Spent about 40 minutes cleaning it out and moving a spliced line inside the outside unit. Got it fixed. Spent 10 minutes talking about an annual maintenance plan and providing a quote.
Then came the bill. I expected an after hours charge and he did me a "favor" by only charging me for an hour - which is how long he was there. But $670 for an hour of after hours labor is insane. Called Monday to ask why we were charged for an hour of labor and a charge for clearing a drain (again labor). Told they would have the office manager call back. Its Tuesday night and no call back. Guess we will continue to look for an HVAC company.
I had them out previously and was quoted $700+ to recharge a 6 month old mini split another company installed. We passed on that service and they did not charge us. I was told the charge was high due to refrigerant costs. Thought they deserved another chance since their office is practically across the street. Now I realize they are crazy expensive. Sometimes going local does not work out. Service - 4 stars. Price 2 - stars.
****Update - they tried a couple times to reach us (we were tied up both times) and saw this review. They refunded the hour of labor and charged for clearing the drain and the after hours charge bringing the total down to a more reasonable rate. Changing the review from 3 to 4 stars based on their willingness to be more reasonable in their rates.

My VRF system was different and my situation was unique. Phillip navigated the difficulties with intelligence and professionalism. He was able get past some roadblocks that would have stopped a less experienced tech. Philip stuck with it until my system was running well. I am very satisfied with the service.

Jorge was extremely professional and knowledgeable - diagnosed the issue quickly, fixed it, provided pictures and video of the before and after. Cool air was immediately flowing and everyone is MUCH happier.
