Home Services reviews in Annandale, Virginia

Their version of snow removal is blocking your driveway so you can’t get out.

They handle the landscaping at my complex, but their work is very poor. They leave litter on the property, cut the grass so short that it burns, and each visit results in more damaged flowers and lawn. They do not trim the bushes properly and leave the clippings behind the shrubs instead of cleaning them up. They also use leaf blowers to blow debris toward our doors and onto the cars. Their behavior shows no respect for the property or residents.

Please avoid this company at all costs. There is no accountability whatsoever.

Worst company! Our community looks like complete trash. I’m beyond embarrassed.
-
Avoid at all costs when it comes to snow removal. The street is terrible and dangerous.
-
Aggressive, unsafe driving in my neighborhood without reason.

This firm has provided landscaping and snow removal services at our condominium community in Gaithersburg MD for many years. Very competent and responsive.

This company contracts with my HOA. They somehow managed to break my storm door. And they made it super difficult to fix/replace. Really horrible process. Lack of basic professionalism and decency.

This company took over the lawn care in our community at Cabin Branch and now we look like a poor community that doesn’t pay for lawn care. There are weeds everywhere! Grass doesn’t get trimmed for weeks. Our neighbors have posted security footage of their worker barely running a weed trimmer over their grass with ONE swing and walking off their property and calling it a day. This company should just go out of business.

Where to start...they were contracted to landscape two new buildings. Half of what they planted died from neglect, more died from being eaten by pests and what survived was ratty and bug infested. A lot of what they planted was incorrectly done, for example a flowering cherry planted in the woods, fifty rudebeckia jammed in a space meant for 20. Once planted nothing was trimmed or maintained in any way at all. Mostly they mowed when they were here at all. When it snowed a few weeks ago they did not clear or sand the walks even though I told them the day before that I wanted that done. When I called Mr. McFall he said 'it's 34 degrees - we aren't doing anything"; when I repeated that I wanted the walks cleared and sanded he agreed to do it in a most ungracious manner. I guess he thinks people don't slip and fall at 34 degrees. He hung up on me almost before I finished my sentence. This is not a landscaping company, nor is it a landscape maintenance company; at best it is a mowing company - but not one that I would ever hire again.

ATTENTION PET OWNERS - The landscaping company “McFall and Berry” is using toxic substances and it’s causing serious health issues for pets. Symptoms can include: seizures, heavy drooling, respiratory issues, vomiting blood, etc. can also cause lymphoma. If your pet has experienced these symptoms since spring, please tell me immediately.
I just had to put my mastiff down for repeated seizures. Several dogs in Fairwood are also having seizures since spring when they started spraying.
Speak up - Fairwood and McFall & Berry have an obligation to warn the residents and they didn’t. -
Huge 5ton parks in residential parking, in front of a busy in/out high traffic area, in front of the 711 taking 3 parking spaces... I took pictures and would load them if I could. I tried to tell the driver they need to move, but they didn't speak English. Called the company to let them know and got the finance department who had no numbers of supervisors to contact in reference to this. There is no accountability and no real supervision. The lady was rude on the phone and just hung up on me before I finished speaking. I see why tgey have three stars for service.

This company has extraordinarily loud equipment. At 7:30 this morning I awoke to a very loud noise that sounded like a medivac helicopter. I live in a large condominium complex with our share of fire truck, ambulance and other emergency equipment visits to service our residents. I have good quality windows that help minimize nose. Normally, my windows muffle the sound of emergency vehicles. Normally, no contractors are allowed to start work before 10:00 am.
This morning I awoke with a huge headache, 2 and 1/2 hours before our condominium bylaws allow any work to be performed on our premises, to the uncommonly loud noise of McFall and Berry landscaping equipment.
I do not recommend this company to residential clients. Their equipment is better suited for work along highways, not residential neighborhoods. -
A landscaper from McFall and Berry was cutting the lawn owned by the town-home complex that I live in. A landscaper employed by McFall and Berry hit the side of my raised garden bed and left it damaged. I understand that things like this happen, and at the least would have appreciated the landscaper knocking on my door, and apologizing for it. However, that's not what happened; he just went on his merry way.
The same day I emailed the company explaining the situation and Mr. Frank Jones emailed back promptly and said he would look into it "ASAP". I sent pictures, and followed up several times. I would receive messages telling me that a manager would look at it "today" and nothing ever came of it.
Edit: Isn't it also funny that someone who's named "Danielle McFall" gave this place 5 stars? -
McFall and Berry did a great job landscaping my home with new plants and mulching. They were professional, arrived on time, and cleaned up nicely when job was completed. I would highly recommend them.

McFall and Berry are experienced, knowledgeable professionals. They have done an excellent job of providing plans for updating our foundation plants and trees for our Commons.!
