DW came and assessed our pine tree. They had to send out a sample of the fungus before making a recommendation. (This reassured us that they were truly interested in the health of our tree, not just in cutting it down.) He was thorough, knowledgeable, professional and very helpful; answering all our questions. I highly recommend this company!

New customer here! I’m so pleased with Bobby Nance and his knowledge to share with me the issues he views with the shrubs and Arborvitae. Treatment to start in June but I wanted to give a review for five stars on the first processes and positive, professional communication with your company and Bobby. I did request a quote from other companies to look and tell me what is needed for arborvitae and one never responded and the second company looked at them and said nothing needs to be done. I was curious how Bobby would do the same but completely the opposite, he first looked at the health of the other shrubs first then talked about the arborvitae and a plan to get EVERYTHING HEALTHY. I’m extremely excited to bring a healthy life to the front of my house and working with Bartlett in the future. Thank you for the positive first impression of your company!

Bobby has been taking care of our large trees for a little over a year now and I cannot say enough great things about him. He is incredibly patient and knowledgeable. Outstanding results with the treatments for my hydrangeas, azaleas, roses and crepe myrtles!!! It’s almost August and I have never seen the foliage look better. Just a little leaf spot on one hydrangea that probably needs a better location!! Bobby and Trevor make a great team!!! So glad we decided to do this!! This large crepe Myrtle has not bloomed like this in years. It is happy now!

Bartlett's Tree Experts provided professional services at my home on December 1, 2025. The landscape is much improved following their work. The arborist provided excellent recommendations during the estimation process. The workers arrived on time and kept me informed. The workers took great care to protect other plants and trees and cleaned up all debris when the job was done. Tree types trimmed included mature Crepe Myrtles, Loblolly Pine and Oaks.

Bobby and his team have consistently demonstrated professionalism and transparency in their approach to tree care. They carefully explained the requirements for each of our trees and provided detailed estimates before commencing work. Recently, Chadwick performed root collar surgery on our sweet gum, cherry, and water oak trees. His efficiency and skill were impressive, and he treated our property with utmost respect, ensuring all tasks were completed with precision. On May 28, 2026, Greg and AJ from the local Chesapeake VA office of Bartlett Tree Service pruned three large Bradford Pear trees in our front yard. Previously, Bobby Nance (Master Arborist) estimated the job.
Greg and AJ are true professionals. They patiently explained the pruning process and addressed all our questions. The process took half a day, and they also helped clear a sizeable stack of trees and limbs into their chipper.
If we have a need for future tree work, we will definitely work with Bartlett and ask to work with Greg and AJ again. Highly recommended.

Brian Renne is my go to person at Bartlett. I first met him when I called to get some trees trimmed in my yard and an appointment was made for me with Brian. Brian is so wonderful to talk to about trees and plants in my yard. He is very Knowledgeable and helps me make good decisions about what to do with trees that need to be trimmed, Fed, or treated. The group that came out to trim my trees after our discussion were amazing. They were also knowledgeable and wanted to help me make good decisions as well. They spent a lot of time and cleaned everything up nicely and when they left all my trees were so happy and beautiful. I would recommend Bartlett service to anyone who cared deeply about their yard and wanted things done correctly. Not only are all of the employees friendly and do an amazing job, but they really care about helping you in your quest to have a beautiful well maintained yard. I would stay far, far away from this company. If I could give negative stars I would. While my husband and I were on vacation my neighbors (without our knowledge or permission) hired Bartlett to “prune” healthy trees on our property. The property line was obvious, there was a power pole and it was flagged. My neighbors directed them into my yard. Crew leader Greg Walker (a supposed arborist) trespassed all over my property and did a hatchet job on our beautiful bayberry trees we planted over 20 years ago. They were 27-30 feet tall. He cut more than half off the tops (down to 12 feet) and the bayberries are damaged beyond repair. I reached out to the Chesapeake Bartlett Manager Jason Heizer (another arborist) who met with me and offered to fertilize the trees as compensation. I also spoke to the district manager Rob Allen (another arborist who oversees Bartlett operations in Virginia and Tennessee) who offered nothing and said the neighbors “gave permission” for them to cut trees on my property. Really? A supposed “professional” and “expert” company that believes they don’t have any obligation to verify property lines and obtain permission prior to cutting trees near a property line? Of course I’m very upset with our neighbors but Bartlett never should have done this work. Not only did Bartlett trespass and cut trees without the owner’s (our) permission, they also do NOT know how to prune as anyone decent at their job would know better than to top a tree by more than half and deep into the old wood trunk. Read up on the “1/3 Rule” of pruning Bartlett!! There are plenty of other qualified professional companies out there, find one of those.

Got into contact with them after they noticed that our trees had issues while they were working with our neighbor. Unfortunately had to get them removed but they got it done in just a few days. Smooth and straightforward process. Would recommend them again.

My husband reached out to Alexander on a Tuesday morning regarding two trees in our backyard that unfortunately had an infestation. That very same day, Alexander was at our house, clearly explaining our options, and then cutting down the trees we needed removed. The tree stumps were all taken care of the next day. The entire process was headache free. My husband and I really appreciate the promptness and due diligence in ensuring the job was complete and done well. Alex and his team are an very professional team. We were scheduled for a morning apointment to remove a 60' pine, several large limbs from a neighbors tre and a cherry tree that was past its prime. Alex's team was on time, had all three down, the yard cleaned and the stumps ground by lunch time. These guys did gret work at a reasonable price and we couldn't be more pleased.
