Unpleasant and Overpriced!
AHS assigned Service Mechanical to repair/replace my water heater and provide other minor plumber services (reseal sink pop-up, running toilet) for my out of state property I was selling. While the tech, Richie, was seemingly knowledgeable, the services they charged were a complete rip-off not to mention some unnecessary. Richie claimed my replacement water heater (that was under warranty) would be too big to fit through door and the door frame would need to come off (in fact, he incorrectly read the dimensions). Additionally, he wrote up the services as modifications (not covered by AHS) versus replacement parts/equipment (covered). Charges included $175 for an emergency drain pan, $150 for pipe mods, $85 for sink pop-ups among other exorbitant charges totaling in excess of $900 of non-covered costs ($1415 total).
After going back and forth between the AHS and an unpleasant female rep at Service Mechanical, we opted to cash out and go with another company. The licensed plumber we hired (through the buyer's agent) charged only $588 total (include $30 drain pan, $80 to replace water lines, $20 pop-up, etc.)... which after AHS cash out, my out-of-pocket expenses = $73 (savings of ~$830).
While AHS shares some blame in this, Service Mechanical was very unpleasant to deal with and extremely overpriced. Recommend customers look elsewhere for plumbing (and HVAC) services. -
Three attempts and my AC unit still have the same problem. Calling them back for the fourth time would be a disaster. American Home Shield doesn’t pay for refrigerant. This I didn’t know so these guys put in refrigerant and it leaked out. From January to March is pass the thirty day mark so I have to pay again. Have to run the unit in emergency heat to keep the coils from icing up. Which make my electric bill go up to $500.00 . Plus $75.00 deductible. Now I have another company out here to fix the problem which will cost me another deductible of $75.00 and time off work. Please stay away from this company. Very Incompetent . If I could give them a lower rating I would.

They were contacted through my Home warranty and there service sucked. NO thorough inspection was done. Called for them to come back out due to the issue still being ongoing they said they'll come back out and never showed up. I highly would not recommend. Service was horrible.

American Home Shield contracted this company out to repair a water leak issue in my master bedroom shower. I wanted to take a moment to write how the tech took the time to educate me on issue I was experiencing . My issue ended up being a cartridge replacement. He was so knowledgeable on ever aspect of the job. I feel that him taking the time to go above and beyond reflect him and the company as well. Thank you so much again!!!

This company was called out to my home by AHS to diagnose my broken water heater. The tech came up with a bs list of items coveniently not covered by the home warranty in the amount of nearly $800. What a scam! I took the cash out option and canceled my contract with AHS. Buyer beware!

Successful encounter with SERVICE MECHANICAL OF TIDEWATER INC. Service Mechanical was booked for an HVAC issue via AHS. Thier first available appointment was in two days and they called back saying they had a same-day appointment an hour after confirming the first appointment.
The technician was kind, professional, and courteous. No extra services or products were pushed on me. My issue (faulty thermostat) was fixed and I was given replacement options to choose from at a later date. -
I’ve used this company multiple times over the years, and they never disappoint. Every time I’ve had an issue, they’ve responded quickly, diagnosed the problem accurately, and had my system back up and running right away. Their consistency, professionalism, and reliability are top tier. Highly recommend!

My heat pump's wall thermostat went blank (it doesn't use back-up batteries), so I couldn't use heat or AC at my home. I sent a service request to AHS warranty, and they assigned this contractor immediately. I received a call from the contractor right away and my appointment was scheduled for the next morning. The technician arrived on time and immediately found a blown fuse in the air handler, which he replaced, and the wall thermostat display started working, but the heat and AC still didn't come on. He then went outside to the heat pump and replaced two bad parts (a transformer and contactor, I think). I believe those two parts got fried and caused the fuse to trip. The problem was fixed on the first visit. Both the office staff and the technician were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, and the technician was very thorough in his work. This was my first time using the AHS warranty (or this contractor), and I was pleased that the repair was covered except for my deductible. I would use this contractor again based on today's positive experience.

Literally the worst heating and air company I’ve ever dealt with! Only had them come out because of American home Sheild. They came out 4x’s and didn’t stay longer than 10 mins. Never fixed the heat other than bypassing it to work for and hour or so after they left! Then made false claims to ahs as to the reason my unit wasn’t working and what they claimed wasn’t covered which got them out of coming and actually fixing my unit. They tried to claim my flute had a blockage of which is also connected to my hot water heater (which was operating at 100%) and that was not the problem! Poor communication! Poor customer service both the mechanic and the secretary or office personnel. Inexperienced mechanic. Unprofessional all around! 10 out of 10 would NEVER RECOMMEND SERVICE MECHANICAL OF TIDEWATER!

I've had 4 successful service calls with this company through American Home Shield. Each time the response has been super fast, and they've been out within a day (maybe 2). The gentleman that comes out is very knowledgable and happy to thoroughly explain the problem + solution, he also takes the time to share knowledge for future reference so we can troubleshoot on our own using a few basic initial steps. He even went above and beyond today noticing our dryer vent is close to a unit, showing me the lint in the coils and washing it off while discussing preventative measures we could take. I've had a service contract with a larger HVAC company in the area who missed so many things with our aging units, tried to sell us freon when we didn't need it, etc. Canceled our contract with them and would continue to use Service Mechanical even outside of our home warranty. It's the kind of service you don't really find anymore...

This company is very unprofessional and dishonest! I can't rate them low enough. The are deceptive and don't speak honestly. The lack integrity and i wish I could report them to a corporate office, but I can't because they are so small!!

Terrible service! Home warranty 2-10 referred this company to come out. Guy was in and out within a matter of minutes. He advised the AC is not working and they don’t work on my type of unit but he took my deductible and advise they would transfer it to someone that could come out but never sent anyone. I called and left a message and no one returned my call. Horrible service would not recommend! They actually installed my unit originally so that was a shocker.

Service Mechanical Co. has come out many times for my HVAC as I have a AHS home warranty. I would request them personally. They are always fast in calling to set up an appointment even if it falls on the weekend. The Tech is very knowledgeable, fast to repair the issue and gets my system back up & running. THANK YOU! I highly recommend this company!

I don't normally leave reviews because sometime the company is judged when something goes wrong when sometime it just be the workers. AHS sent this company out to service my AC, they were very pleasant and very knowledgeable and quick with the repairs of my unit, I didn't even get say Thank you or goodbye because they were finished that fast, they spoke to my husband and then they were gone, he came and gave me the receipt for the repairs and even though I did not get their name I am going to try to, for recommendation or personal requests. great workers. Thank you.

I wish I could give something less than one star. Company came out through American Home Shield (AHS) and told me that I need a float switch and some kind of condensate pump really I have water in my ceiling! American Home shield need to do better and who they use for their technicians. Of course, AHS wouldn’t cover the services that I didn’t need! Now I have a worst problem the water destroyed my cabinets! Tech wasn’t here 30 min!

All of these bad reviews aren't here for no reason. Trust them.
They are clearly just in it for the 210 warranty benefits and are trying to do the bare minimum. But they fail at the bare minimum.
If you have 210 and they automatically assign service mechanical, do yourself a favor and immediately request another contractor or escalate.
Otherwise I'll be seeing your review here soon telling myself "I told you so". -
Awful customer service. I’ve called numerous times since there tech left. They came out not because I chose them, but because my home warranty did. The original scheduled time was for a Friday between 9-1 they no showed nor called and called 40 minutes after the scheduled window they called to say they were on their way and I told them it would have to be rescheduled because I had to work, so we rescheduled to MONDAY. They called Saturday asking if I was available and I happened to be given the forecasted weather, so they came Saturday morning with a 30 minutes notice … fine because it was in regard to my heating system. The tech shows up and states that my heat is pulling because it is in eco mode (which is an option on the thermostat, but it was not on because I have the option to turn it on and off and it was off). Maybe he mentioned that because he noticed it was on there. It initially confused me because I thought he was speaking of something different in regard to eco, and he kept over talking me or dismissing what I said. I asked him to show me what he was speaking of and it was completely disregarded. Made zero eye contact the entire time and seemed as though he didn’t want to help “me.” He checked my unit and my attic and everything was “fine.” He then set my thermostat to 70 at my request and wrote out the invoice and took my card information and I was charged 189, which is through my warranty (fine). My issue comes with that 5 hours later and my heat isn’t getting to 70 and I have two space heaters as well to compensate. (Now almost a month later). The issue clearly was not addressed. I’ve called their company multiple times since then to bring this to their attention, but I guess they feel after they get your information to collect your money they have no obligation to answer or make right. Money down the drain and still an issue with what seems no resolve anytime soon. Will also be keeping a close eye to make sure I am not charge excessed because everything was hand written, which if I hand another option I would’ve opted but being that this appointment was last minute because the rescheduling was for Monday I didn’t. If I happen to receive excess charges or miscellaneous charges I will be reporting them to BBB. Disappointed to say the least. I wish I would’ve looked at the company’s reviews and cancelled through my warranty before they came out.

After 2 days of my AC not working properly and getting the run around from my warranty company I was referred to this company. Atlantic Mechanical has done work for me at my house as well as my rental property. They have installed HVAC units installed in both houses. Both installations were done with complete professionalism and the attention to detail makes the installation stand out above the rest. I have also used Atlantic Mechanical for plumbing repairs at both houses. The jobs are always done right the first time and there response time was very fast. In addition to the HVAC and plumbing work they have done, they installed a hot water heater in one house also done right the first time. If you need HVAC, plumbing or hot waters heaters installed or repaired I would highly recommend their services. I have used them many times and have always had a positive experience.

I have been using Atlantic Mechanical for over 3 years now. And once again to no surprise, Greg and his team provided outstanding work in a timely matter. My heater system was not operating properly and I figured I would just send a text and then in the morning he would see it. Well, it did not happen that way. At about 8:30pm that night I sent the text, he responded within 1 minute later and replied with he should be able to check it tomorrow. The next morning, I received a text that he was on his way and by noon, the heat was back to working. Now, this is what I call outstanding service from a professional company. It gets no better. Highly recommend.
