I hired Built by Babb expecting professional work, but the results were very poor. Adhesive was left all over my new floors, and when I asked about it, I was told “it will come off eventually.” There were gaps, chipped boards, sloppy trim cuts, and visible damage around cabinets and corners (see photos). When I pointed out the cabinet damage, Mr. Babb (the owner) just said, “well we ain’t perfect,” and moved on without addressing it.

Some items were fixed, but once he received payment, he considered everything finished. One of his workers told me they provide a 1-year warranty, and before payment, Mr. Babb said he offers a warranty with no deadline and would fix anything that went wrong. After I trusted him and paid in full, he completely reversed course and said the job was “done” and that nothing was under warranty because they didn’t purchase the flooring themselves.

I have now added another picture that shows more floor separation continuing to occur, further proving the poor quality of the installation.

Very unprofessional experience from start to finish. I would not recommend this company.

John Babb and his guys built the most beautiful porch and hot tub deck for us. I cannot say enough about how amazing they all were! The entire process was just what you would want for any construction or home improvement. From start to finish John was very responsive and always kept us informed about the job. The guys on the crew were great and very skilled. The finished project was so much more than what we had hoped for! We love it so much! We highly recommend!

I really appreciate Mr. Babb and his team being willing to do some roof repairs to my house. As a first time home owner who bought a house that needed a little work, it has been a little overwhelming trying to find some good contractors. I have been trying to get a roofer for 5 months who was willing to make repairs. What I found is that many roofers were not interested in coming out unless they got to do a whole new roof. I really appreciate Mr. Babb getting his team to make these repairs and extend the life of the roof I currently have. His roofers were very friendly to speak to too, and they cleaned up all the debris from the yard, which I appreciate very much. I think the work was high quality at a fair price. Thank you guys!

I recently hired Built by Babb to repair the ceiling in my bedroom after part of it collapsed due to a roof leak, and the experience exceeded all my expectations. They removed the damaged plaster and lathing, installed new drywall, painted, and even installed a ceiling fan. The entire team worked with remarkable skill, and the finished product is perfect!
Johnny Babb, the owner, closely supervised the project, ensuring everything went smoothly. The subcontractors were well-coordinated. Throughout the process, communication was excellent, and I was always kept in the loop. They met the promised timeline and worked with my insurance company to provide all the necessary documentation.
I truly felt like a partner in the process, and the project was completed within my budget. I highly recommend Built by Babb for their exceptional workmanship, excellent communication, and commitment to their clients.

We have used Built By Babb for two jobs. First was a small job, a master bath remodel, after receiving a local recommendation for Built By Babb. John and his crew showed up on time, did the work as promised and stuck to the original estimate on price.

About a year later the second job was a substantial house renovation on a new to us home which they just completed. Some job highlights included a new roof, new tile, removal of old tile flooring and replacement with hardwood floors and major master bath remodeling. We also had some electrical work, drywall and paint work done and new carpet installation.

I would encourage anyone getting ready to do renovation/remodeling to go to his shop in Smithfield and see the kind of work he can do.

Babb has a solid crew of people working for him and with him on these jobs. Babb is an excellent communicator and listener and is a phone call away. You wont have to look for him.

My wife was the primary communicator on both jobs and Babb listened to her carefully and communicated with her directly. Babb lets you finish sentences and ideas and does not talk over you and is not dismissive. John wants to understand what you are trying to accomplish and will share his ideas with you based on his experience. The custom work he can do is pretty incredible and he genuinely seems interested in doing an outstanding job.

A ton of work went into this renovation and of course there were some minor hiccups along the way. Babb and his team took it all in stride and the job was completed on time and pretty close to the original estimate except where we, the owners, modified the original plans or additional unexpected repairs had to be made.

I can't say enough good things about Johnny and the Built By Babb Team. There are plenty of people out there who say they want to take a look at a job, but unfortunately there are very few that show up and take action. Johnny was a breath of fresh air. We had a couple of projects that we needed to get knocked out including pulling up old basement flooring and installing new, as well as addressing a leaking shower door in our master bath. I was recommended Johnny who I had never met or used prior. He came in and followed up on every single thing he said and that we discussed. Once he started, he stayed on my projects vs dragging things out. He communicated every morning to let me know who was coming and what time, and he followed up every evening to make sure I was happy and didn't have any request or changes. Above all he took pride in the work he and his crew did and multiple times pointed out things that he wanted to redo or touch up that I hadn't even noticed. Genuine guy who is down to earth and takes care of his people. Above all he was fair in his work and his pricing. Couldn't be more grateful to build a new connection to have moving forward with projects that come up.

We hired Built By Babb to completely renovate our kitchen inside and out. The job required all aspects of construction expertise from demolition to finish carpentry (interior and exterior walls, drywall, plumbing, paint, cabinets, tile, electrical, etc). Mr. Babb and his expert crew handled all the details flawlessly. We got an initial quote and a 10% overage margin to cover more expensive choices on our part. The job came in right where he said it would. The workers were great to have around and frankly, we miss seeing them. If I had it to do all over I wouldn't change a thing. My sincere thanks to the team for their professionalism and patience. Great job!!!

A true joke. They rip you off extremely bad especially if you know nothing about hvac. 90 dollars just to come and look at ac that they installed and fixed numerous times. I'm contacting the BBB

Great experience. They were my 3 quote on a new HVAC.They did not try and over sale compared to the other companies. I would recommend them to others.

Harrison Mechanical was professional from start to finish. Initial repair technician accurately identified our problem and recommended a course of action. Within the day, a quote was generated with multiple options depending on what I wanted. The work that was eventually done was that same week and done in the time frame that was quoted. The install technicians were courteous and worked quickly. I would recommend Harrison Mechanical for any HVAC needs.

We had a complete ductwork changeout. The installers were very professional and did excellent work under the house. They were very accommodating with any concerns and questions we had during the installation. Overall outstanding job. Definitely recommend for anyone that needs HVAC work.

Recommended Harrison to my boss, Mike Bell. He was having trouble w heating unit even after replacing parts. Harrison came out early, found 2 loose wires, gave him a great price. My boss said he will always use this company from now on

During the record high heat in July 2019, our AC was not working properly. A technician arrived within an hour of our call. He was able to quickly determine the problems and recommend that the 17 year old unit be replaced. We were able to limp through several weeks at the cost of a higher electric bill. A new unit was ordered and installed. The installation technicians were very conscientious and efficient. Harrison M&E is a real plus for Smithfield area residents.

Harrison Mechanical is the best HVAC company we've ever used and we've been a customer for almost 20 years now. They have serviced and when necessary, replaced everything mechanical in our home. They are prompt, courteous, very knowledgeable, and fairly priced. We wouldn't go anywhere else. Rod is the best HVAC Tech around!

My AC wouldn't cut on last night. This morning, I called Harrisons mechanical and they gave me a time frame between 11 and 2 for someone to come out. Mel got here before 11:30 and had the problem figured out and fixed within the hour. I will definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone. Thank you Harrisons. The technicians from Harrison were in home two days installing a new Crane heat pump system and a new Trane furnace and air conditioner.
They were prompt, polite, and professional and delight to have in our home. We are so happy we found Harrison's for our new HVAC systems in a 24 year old home.

Our heat stopped working in the middle of the night. I called and left a message before the business was open and received a call before 8a to set up an appointment. Technician was super nice and professional. Did a great job diagnosing the problem and replacing the motor. Will definitely call on them again if I have any problems. Thank you!!

Had a mini-split installed at my house as the upstairs was brutal in the summer. While the install team could have taken a bit more time and alleviated a return visit to fix small mistakes, I am very happy with the product and customer service I received. Lisa was very kind and thoughtful to make sure everything was taken care of. Thank you!

Harrison has been performing our twice annual HVAC checks for a number of years now. Always send friendly, professional workmen. Very good about fixing small issues. Point out items that may become a problem in the future.

Make appointments on time. Call to remind us we need the check.

Harrisons originally installed our system in our business 10 years ago. They have always been quick to respond to all calls and service our system. We also use them for our home system.
I can not give these guys enough stars. There customer service and professionalism is outstanding. They take the time to educate us on our units. There pricing is great.
