I had some pretty severe drainage issues around my patio. After attempting to tackle this by myself I quickly realized I was out of my league. Dr. Dan and his team were very responsive and knew exactly how to solve my issues. Consultation/estimate were done very quick and there was no “let me call the other guy” delays. The dry wells and drain fields they made gave my patio a much needed overhaul and have made the space much more enjoyable for my family. 10/10

My wife and I were concerned about yard flooding in our Virginia Beach, VA, home and we contacted Dr Dan’s Landscaping and architectural Design on the recommendation of my sister-in-law, who was familiar with his services. Dan came to our home and listened to our concerns. Luckily, it started rain heavily and Dan saw, first-hand, the issue and proposed a solution of French drains that fixed the problem. While he was there, I took the opportunity to show him another issue that has plagued me for twenty years. Our driveway was old and water from heavy rains pooled into our garage and along the walkway in front of our house. He made another proposal for removing the old driveway and front walk, reshaping the slope of yard so the water would drain into the street gutter and not inside my garage. The work began in August and the yard issue was fixed in two days. The driveway work began in September and it took Dr Dan’s crew five days to redo the driveway and front walk, with an additional extra- an expanded side walk beside garage that has drawn admiring comments from our neighbors. Dr. Dan delivered the solutions we asked of him, plus more, and at a price that didn’t break our bank! Very professional landscapers. They have some of the hardest workers that removed seven stumps, roots, from previous grove of trees, on both sides of our new Vinly Fence. They restored my underground water system, replaced two heads and added new zones to cover the new Sod Placement on both sides of the fence. They brought the best tillers, ditch witches, and two heavy transport trucks to complete my yard. The Water Pump was replaced with the best in the industry - not the Home Depot and Lowe’s specials that fail in a year. The Irrigation Subcontractor was very experience in his trade and his crew was the best.
Professional Work requires professional people and Dr Dan’s crew is tops.

Weston and his team transformed my backyard and installed a drainage system. The work they performed exceeded expectations. They went above and beyond removing clay and installed soil and sod. Dr. Dan uses only the best materials and his teams are fast and effective.

Dr Dan and his team initially did amazing work and his team works very hard.

The followup, aftercare and "warranty" are an absolute farce. The sod they laid down was awesome for two weeks. However, after some research, they did not lay the sod correctly with the correct pitch, irritation nor did they fill seams, or use a sod roller. Additionally after the sod dies I had plastic lattice pulling up dirt and grass that was unexpected. Do your research, I do have pets and he'll blame them but he knew and didn't recommend pet friendly and shade friendly vegetation and after the amount of money paid and his thinly veiled threats of of lawyers I realized I got had and found a reputable firm that fixed his under-sights and I ate the money. Beware. The team he used worked very hard but they missed steps and did not follow up until I called after using their instructions and my grass died. after $16,000 dollars in work, Dr. Dan said, I have lawyers but I can give you a 10 percent discount on additional work. So Customer beware, he mentions litigation and lack of warranty thoroughly so believe him, they do good work at first, but don't stand by it afterwords. They work hard initially but its a ruse to get the business and not follow up. Its been a year and I had to hire another firm to get grass to grow and additional french drains that actually work and replace the trees that were killed.

Dr. Dan, Leighann and Dena were all very great Dr. Dan came to my home multiple times before and during the project to check on the progress on. Leighann came to do my estimate and was very proactive and Dena was in constant communication with me through the whole process. All of the gentleman that worked on my home or on time they cleaned up and we’re in constant communication to make sure that the project is going great. I am super happy with the results and I definitely will be using Dr. Dan’s for any and everything moving forward.

For us, 2025 was the year of “Dr. Dan’s Landscaping & Architectural Design Company”. In early January, we met with Dan in-person to discuss our project and hired him same day. Dan impressed us (and continues to) with his timeliness, business acumen, down-to-earth persona and expert knowledge of the landscaping business. He’s an excellent listener, offers sound suggestions and drafts honest, realistic work estimates for each project scope discussed. Dan is also extremely thorough and detail-oriented in his project/scope designs and conducts regular site visits to check-in with his crew to ensure they have a thorough understanding of the project scope/vision and to address questions. It’s obvious Dan has a great rapport with his crew and mutual respect.
We initially hired Dan’s company to remove a half dozen large, mature trees on our property and install drainage systems. At the time, we had no idea we’d go on to award Dan’s company additional projects, every month, for the balance of CY 2025. The reason for this was simple: Dan’s crews. Dan’s company’s greatest asset is his people, from his office staff to his landscaping crews to the diverse network of professional contactors he’s developed throughout his 35 years of experience. Every person that worked on our property was extremely knowledgeable, hardworking and conducted themselves in a professional manner that reflected Dan’s high expectations and his work relationship with them. They executed each project seamlessly, earning our trust and confidence to present Dan with another work project. We’d like to take this opportunity to give a personal shout-out to Chris, Weston, Bryce, Mike, Paul, Jason, Tommy, and Kelly (and all the others) who were regulars at our home in 2025 and to personally thank each of them for their hard work, dedication, and expert craftsmanship. We gave Dr. Dan’s Landscaping & Architectural Design Company a 5-star rating. If we could have, we’d rate each project separately to give this well-deserved rating the statistical weighting it deserves for the number and scope of work projects performed at our home in 2025. The projects completed include: the removal of several large trees and roots (including a huge Pin Oak tree); installing various drainage systems (french drains, buried gutters, earth drains); installing sod (front and back yard); installing a new irrigation system, well pump and construction of a pump house; installing Cedar yard fencing, new composite deck (nail-less); new shed; new fire pit; landscaping (including palm trees); landscape bed edging and stones, landscape border border rock stones, boulders; stamped concrete driveway pad (for third car), stamped sidewalk (from our driveway to our deck), concrete pad for the shed; home foundation cement repairs and sealing, roof gutters and downspouts, house wrapping including window trim; masonry repairs (front brick porch steps, chimney), new brick mail box, replacement of our garage's steel lintel (behind the facing bricks) and rebricking; painting of house shutters and house siding; roof washing.

This year we had Dr. Dan's Landscaping & Architectural Design team come out to our home in the King's Grant area of Virginia Bch to remove a 40 year old deteriorated cracked driveway and sidewalk, which was a fairly large residential job.
Dr Dan provided a very reasonable quote for removing and replacing our Driveway with a much larger one which also included a wider curving sidewalk to the front door and the side of the house to an new outside shower.
Dr Dan's Team was always very polite, professional and very punctual, Dr Dan even called prior to arriving each day to inform us as to what was going to be accomplished.
Dan's Team Leader Gabriel and his crew protected our property during the process and always ensured everything was cleaned up at the end of each work day. The concrete form they made for the New Driveway had alot of Curves, Transitions and Angles.. and we can not be happier with the end result of there design, work and expertise.
The job start to finish took about 3-1/2 days..

After leasing a property in the Virginia Beach area, we researched for a quality landscaping company to makeover our backyard.

We’re really happy with the final product! Once the crew got started, the entire job—demo, pouring, and sealing—was completed in just two days. The team was knowledgeable, efficient, and cleaned up thoroughly afterward.

However, I'm giving 4 stars due to communication issues. The foreman and the head designer arrived earlier than our agreed-upon time and entered our backyard without prior notice or permission. This was a significant concern, both from a safety perspective (we have dogs that could have been in the yard) and in terms of respecting our property and boundaries.

Additionally, I sent a $4,000 deposit by mail and never received confirmation that it was received. A simple heads-up—like “We got your check and will update you as we get closer to your spot in the queue”—would have made a big difference.

Overall, if communication had been better, this would have been a 5-star experience.

Dr. Dan’s took time to help me figure out exactly what I wanted and needed and then finished the project quickly. Before, my yard was ugly and hard to keep clean and I never used it. Now I have additional living space and it’s easy to manage. I have an outdoor entertainment area and they even installed 8 foot posts to hang cafe lights. They created a large double gate to allow me to enjoy the view of the pond beyond the fence. The fence will be stained and solar lights installed along the fence and on top of the cafe light posts. The workers were kind and fast. I highly recommend Dr. Dan’s!

Dr Dan and his team are helping us with a large multi-phase landscaping project. Dr Dan helped us create our vision when we first met, and we could immediately tell his vast experience would leave us in good hands (which is great because we are control freaks). They began the first phase, construction of a 48 ft long tiered garden (before and after pics attached), around the start of January and completed it extremely quickly by the end of the month. The craftsmanship so far has been excellent and the team has been very professional. Dr Dan, the founder, makes visits to inspect the construction quality and progress and his manager, Dena, is very communicative and helpful with any questions and concerns. Dr Dan always arrives with bags of goodies, and he has gone above and beyond what was expected of the project so far. We are so happy to have used a local company and are beyond excited to continue with the rest of the phases. We will likely continue to use them for all of our future landscaping needs for years to come. You can't find quality companies like this easily and for such reasonable prices. Highly Recommend

Travis and his crew got our job done in a very timely fashion and were extremely professional. The quality of work they did was absolutely worth the money.

Travis has been prompt in responding to our requests for estimates for 2 different lawn projects, on time for his appointments, and does thorough work. He leaves our yard looking great, is efficient, and takes pride in his work. He is respectful of our property and is friendly and personable. My wife and I are completely pleased.

Travis and his crew did a great job cleaning up my flower beds and trimming all of my shrubs. I will definitely be using them again.
