Landscaping reviews in Spokane, Washington

Contacted this company and spoke to Carl on 4/12/16. Told him what types of services I was looking for. He informed me that they would be up in my area by the end of the week (which would have been no later than 4/15/16). Provided them my name and phone number, as well as my husband's name and phone number.
To this day, 4/26/2016, no one has called nor have they shown up.
Based just on this fact alone, I would not use this company. Obviously unreliable. -
I have had Carl for years and have been extremely satisfied with his services. Never had to worry for my small dogs, lawn and scrubs always looked great!
-
Karl has been reliable and is very knowledgeable. He has completely turned the lawn of my new property from a weed and fungus infested mess to a lush, green space.
-
I've had Karl Mills and ECO Lawn and Tree Care Services for over 20 years and we are beyond pleased. Karl is very dependable and pleasant. Our lawn is one of the best and most beautiful in the entire neighborhood. I would recommend this business to anyone that's wants natural lawn fertilizers and weed control
-
My lawn has never looked better! I was worried that going the natural route would yield a less lush lawn - I was wrong! In fact, my lawn is BETTER than it was when using a company that uses the chemical stuff. This year, my lawn is noticeably healthier than my neighbors who use other vendors. Nothing against them, their lawns are lovely too!, but I feel that mine is heartier and more resistant to weeds and hot temps. I've never had a lawn this strong. I thought I'd just use Carl's services that first year when I was too busy to do my own fertilizing but wanted a natural approach. Well, that was 2 years ago and I have NO intention of leaving Carl's service. It is a fair price for what you get in return and he comes like clockwork 5 times a year. Try it, you will love the results and your pets/kids will be safe!

I have to say this.
This is probably my favorite store in Spokane. The service you get, it's Paramount to heaven. I'm telling you the the knowledge, the courtesy, the customer service and the discount. It's almost too much. It's the best place I've ever spent money at. I highly recommend with everything I have. If you dont stop by you are missing out on a real treasure.
. Have to check this place out if you're really missing out.l -
Just recently we decided to add some fish to our family. We went into Northwest Seed & Pet without any knowledge about what we needed first other than the tank itself.
I have to say if it weren't for Michael and his helpful advice our fish would have went belly up over night. He advised us to acclimate our water, (which took us 2 weeks) helped us pick the perfect tank & although we wanted to walk out with fish that same day we listened. We came back with outstanding water from our tank so it was perfectly habitable.
Michael gave tips on which fish get along with which so we have friendly pets. Directed us to which foods we would need for our new members, showed us how to clean our tank, made sure we had enough gravel & that some other decorative pieces were a right fit. He went above & beyond. He's definitely a man who takes pride in his work, my husband & I were so impressed! We thanked him and left as happy customers. I decided to call on our way home to get his name. I hope he's recognized more for his enthusiasm for fish. He's an incredible employee in our opinion. -
Le Anna in the aquatics department has an amazing attitude and was so helpful and knowledgeable in getting us set up with the proper tank equipment to start an aquarium! She was so fun and helpful, definitely cannot wait to get back to the store and work with her in picking the fish up to put in the tank!! Thank you!!

Best place very helpful and respectful
-
The kids had so much fun with the guinea pigs that you can pick up and pet and loved looking at all the animals. Ashley was extremely helpful and knowledgeable when it came to garden pests, plants, and soil! Great overall experience.
-
Love this place I bought some more ducks they all look like they are in good health too.
-
Rats should not be kept in tanks this is inhuman! Feeder rats are not pets! Do better
Had to tell an employee there was a dead budgie in the cage. How sad.
Don't recommend this store. I wouldn't even get a fish from them. -
If I could give this location less than one star I absolutely would, and I am honestly in shock that this store is still allowed to have and sell live animals. I am unsure how many reviews may not have been posted or are inaccessible, but the oldest I have found calling out the horrible conditions animals are kept in and lack of interest in their wellfare was from 14 years ago. I found a response to another such review from 9 months ago and I have no doubt there are others, where excuses were given to try and paint that customer's observations as misunderstandings, assumptions, or delusions. However, that response was laughable at best given the outright lies proven by the evidence tracked in continuous reviews calling out these issues over more than a decade. Such claims as "we take great care to ensure the health and safety of all our animals, and no pathogens have spread in our store" when customers have shared and documented cases of diseased animals being sold with anything from bacterial infections to Parvovirus to parasite infestations. Another line stated "... we are continuously improving and updating every area especially the pet and fish sections as funds allow" yet animals who have been owned by the store's own admission upwards of five, ten, even twenty years, are still housed in unsuitable enclosures that border on abuse. As for their unsubstantiated statement that "our rabbits and poultry recieve proper care and we will review their enclosures to address any issues" our visit, nine months later than that statement was made, still clearly showed neglectfully small enclosures, highly stressed animals, and dangerously close proximity between species capable of transmitting diseases and/or parasites across their gap in species and in some cases potentially to humans as well.
If the care of these animals was of a level of concern anywhere close to what they claim or was even minimally appropriate, such conditions continuing to be present 9 months later, much less 14+ YEARS later, would be reason enough to have completely overhauled their business model or shut their doors to focus on ending the neglect and borderline abuse of these animals.
There is no excuse or platitude that can counter over a decade of published evidence that this has already gone on far too long for any future plans to redeem their practices. -
I've never had a problem with customer service when purchasing. I'm a decades long fish keeper. Tuesday the 19th I bought several fish. Of the four guppies I bought one was dead on the evening of the 20th. Two more were actively dying this morning, the 21st. I added the two dying guppies to the bag with the dead one and drive 25 minutes in to the store. The cost of the guppies was not the issue, I spent more on the gas to purchase, then return them. I was treated to the most judgy attitude. Endlessly examining the fish, asking the other employee to look at the fish. It was clear that she felt I had killed the fish. Why offer a quarantee? I wasted my time, and gas, to purchase from a local store rather than big box. I've lived here 35 years and have purchased from this store regularly. I won't be back.

I love this store, we have made ourselves known at this pet community, to the point where the workers know us and greet us; conversing with us about the niche pet rat breeds my family searches for. Kiwi is a highlight, I love when he gets free flight time, and Ruby is a staple. The pets here are friendly and not skittish. Altogether we are very happy spending our money here, they offer bedding and food in bulk and we are never the type to skip on animal care. I had an embarrassing experience today here, however. My friend was letting the rats smell her finger to see if they might have a friendly one, and she was loudly scolded in the pet room around other customers in a humiliating way. Without protest, the worker snidely remarked that the sign has been there forever and it's "right in front of your face" that you aren't to touch the rats. My friend was confused because she had express permission before and had incorrectly assumed it would be okay to touch them. This would have not been an issue if the attendant was not so rude about the altercation. I pointed out the sign and when I touched it (it was held together with old tape) it fell off. Then as we went to purchase our bird food, millet, and other bird supplies (we have many pets!) Yet another attendant chased us down and loudly accused us of stealing the sign. Made her empty her pockets right there in the isle. Was very mean and stomped at us. I don't know why anyone would steal a laminate paper sign. If they check, I am sure they will find the missing sign. Suffice to say, I was disappointed, because usually I recommend this store to death by word of mouth, and prefer it even to the other location which happens to be closer. I don't know if I will be returning here, as it seems normal to accuse customers of stealing and that was an extremely embarrassing experience. Apologies if we made anyone's day harder, we probably were overexcited anyway.

Checker doubled the price of our items and when we said something the checker was rude. Talked to the manager who was flippant at best. Cheaper places to shop with good customer service. Wouldn't recommend. I don't think they like non liberal people.
-
The guy at the pet section, I think his name is Thomas? is giving out incorrect and harmful information to the customers. I overheard him telling people ball pythons don’t need humidity which is NOT true and he had told me isopods could be mixed together which resulted in a bunch of mine dying. I really didn’t want to write this review, everyone else at the store is so wonderful and kind but it’s careless to be working at this place and giving false information to people.

The owner of this store is a joke. We gave them a lot of business .We were in just about every week to buy food for our bearded dragons. My daughter gave a customer advice on how to set things up for her daughters first beardie. Another customer also gave her some advice. Well apperantly he allows a couple of employees make up stories saying my daughter said things she did not. And now doesn't allow us to come back. Not once have we've ever been rude to anyone in that store. There are a couple of very awsome people who work there. We've also sent a lot of business that way. That will stop......

Updated:
I've been back a few times and maybe I went in on a bad day, but things seem to have improved, I apreciate your response. In the parrot cages I saw only bowls of seeds, hence my assumptions.
I've been able to read more of the signs up in the store, about where is okay and not okay to touch a parrot, and the minimum requirements for beta fish and very much appreciate these, many pet stores I've been to in the past simply don't care and sometimes encourage the mistreatment.
I've changed my rating to reflect this, I appreciate the effort to give these animals good homes.

Never been in here before yesterday, as someone who studies proper habitation for a variety of animals, I was pretty appalled at the conditions their animals were in. Their macaw Ruby was barbering her feathers, and it's likely because it's stressful living in a store with strangers and noises around constantly, and their parrots are on an all seed diet (Parrots have a specialized diet and there are a variety of types of pellets and fresh foods they require, all seed diets lead to slow painful deaths). There was a resident conure named Kiwi who was less than a year old, but the enclosure set up for them was much older. How many little conures have died in that cage and simply been replaced?
There was a python in too-small a tank, the rabbits were terrified and had no hide in their cage, a lot of the poultry seemed listless and unwell, and when i informed an employee of a tortoise who'd flipped onto their back, watching them struggling to flip back over (Id have reached in myself to help but couldn't with the way the tank opened), we were told that this tortoise does this 20 times a day, meaning, again, inadiquate housing.
Really horrifying practices here, very ready for pathogens to spread. I'd be happy to help assist in improving the husbandry of these animals but from what I've seen there's no actual care for the animals when profit is involved. I've seen pet stores do it well, this was not one of them. -
This was such a fun experience! My son wants a Bearded Dragon for his 9th birthday. I took him here so he could hold one and I REALLY wish that I could remember the girl who helped us name! She was AMAZING! She had dark hair and literally knew EVERYTHING about Lizards! It was like talking to a dictionary! I was astonished! We will be back to ask her ANY and EVERYTHING when we do get one for my son! She let him hold one and made it an Awesome experience for him! We learned about what they eat and what they like when they are young, middle and adults! SOOOOO Informative! My son decided on a middle aged one! So we are currently in the market for one! Thank you NW Seed and Pet! We WILL be back! 10/10 Recommend!!
