Absolutely great experience. The owner Eddie was very responsive and reasonable with his quote. We had a few other quotes and Chimney and Fireplace was very reasonable and did the best job detailing out the work and warrantying their work. Can't recommend them more, thanks guys!

When our fireplace stopped working, we called several fireplace repair companies in the area. We had someone from another company come out and look at the fireplace for well over an hour before giving up and NOT fixing it. They told us there were likely several things wrong and they would need to order several parts and come back out to finish the job. We couldn't get in touch with them again, so we called Chimney & Fireplace Works. The scheduling was easy, the price was fair, and Eddie was able to fix and clean our fireplace in only 20 minutes. I'd give them 6 stars if I could! Really impressed with their quality of service, expertise, and honesty. Definitely going with them again for any future fireplace needs!

Excellent service and craftsmanship at a fair price. Two chimneys were repaired and brought up to code. The brick was matched perfectly. All workers were friendly and courteous. Because the repair was done late in the fall, necessary waterproofing could not be completed due to cold temperatures. Eddie promptly sent workers this spring to complete the waterproofing. Highly recommended.

After missing my fires, and being worried for family's safety for days, I called and asked for emergency inspection. I was impressed with only a 3 day wait (since they're actually booked months in advance). Eddie came over on time at my convenience later at night. He did a cleaning and patch job (He got super dirty) while he was working he taught me about fireplace repair, safety and replacements. Made me feel comfortable again to use my own fireplace. Thank you. Absolutely worth the extra $. He even cleaned the glass doors!!! Both sides!!

Eddie, the owner, and the office staff were all amazing...friendly, helpful and super responsive. We had a problem with our rain cap that wasn't urgent, but they got out there within the week. And when Eddie was onsite he gave a thorough inspection and exceptional customer service. In fact, he went above & beyond on such a small job to make our lives easier. It was a pleasure working with everyone from Chimney & Fireplace Works. We will definitely be using Eddie for all our fireplace needs from here on out.

My dad had Eddie fix his gas fireplace a couple of weeks ago; he loved Eddie and recommended him to me. I was so impressed with Eddie. He was on time, respectful of health guidelines to wear a face mask in my home, and extremely helpful. I needed help turning on my gas fireplace, and he instructed me through the process. He also noticed that my condo association has rusted chimney caps and suggested that we replace them - I am grateful he pointed that out.
At the end, I was ready to compensate him for his time and work, but he extended the gesture to not charge me because the lighting of the pilot took 5 minutes - so generous and kind on his part!
We've found the company to go to and recommend for any fireplace needs.
Thank you, Eddie. -
Received reminder call 24 hours prior to appointment. Eddie arrived on time (15 minutes early!), resolved my issue and answered every question I had. Nice job by Eddie and Chimney & Fireplace Works.

I received prompt, professional, reasonably priced service from C&FW. My service was scheduled on my first phone call to business, which lasted just a few minutes. The owner did the work himself, solving a couple of unexpected problems without fuss along the way. My woodburning stove and chimney were thoroughly cleaned, and billing was smooth and easy. I expect to reuse their service annually (especially given my experiences over the last 5 years with other Madison-based options).

They were great! The owner Eddie was honest about the cost to repair compared to removing our chimney and put in a liner then a metal top. We chose the removal and liner. The removal showed that was a great choice as well as cost effective. Our home is 80 years old, the brick crumbled in my hands. They sealed and put new shingles in place. They explained what they were doing and were great about answering questions. I highly recommend this company.

What a great experience! The owner Eddie was very responsive and very in tune with the climate of the day with the Covid19. He was able to give us an estimate via a quick visit and pictures from inside the house. Then, the team came and began the work very observant of the social distancing and making sure to clean up the site. The lead guy, Casey, who did the work in the house made sure to explain what he was doing and the time he needed to be inside the house. Once the work was complete, we received a call from the owner and he stopped by to check the work and see if we had any issues. We had a small lean in one of the chimney posts but Eddie made a quick adjustment and fixed our concerns. If you need a great team and great leaders to get you work completed well and timely.

Eddie was great! He arrived on time, was friendly, helpful, well informed, and very efficient, He took great care to keep things clean. I will definitely be using their services again!

Eddie came out and cleaned and inspected our fireplace. He took pictures and explained in detail what was going on and gave us an honest assessment of our chimney's. He recommended some additional repairs that are needed to prevent any further damage. He followed up the next day with the inspection report and quote for the future repairs as promised. He was very professional and I was extremely impressed with the quality of his work and reasonable prices. I would definitely recommend Chimney & Fireplace Works and will certainly be using them again in the future.

Eddie was super! I made a request to have him come and look at my gas fireplace as it was not working. He was willing to fit me in between appointments and was in and out very quickly. As my fireplace insert was rusty, he offered to paint it to make it look better as well as having started my pilot light. His pricing was extremely better than I had expected after getting a couple quotes. He is definintely worth the call!!!!

Very responsive, came to give an estimate on the same (very cold) Sunday that I first contacted. The chimney work was scheduled quickly, done well, and the crew did a thorough cleanup after. The new chimney looks great!
-
Eddie was early for our appointment. I had the wrong setting for the fireplace. He showed me what to turn into. Did not charge me for the service and was very helpful.

Our insurance company was going to cancel our home owners policy because our chimney needed repair. Eddie and his team replaced our chimney quickly and did great work. Eddie communicated with me regularly during the entire process, unlike many of the other companies who never returned my calls or emails.

Told I need a chimney liner and they would send a quote. 6 weeks later and 3 contacts i never got a response! If you don't want the business just say so. Would not hire them now.
-
These people were terrible. I had a fireplace vent that had bird's nest in it. I was told by CFW that I would need a replacement vent with a screen over it. I was promised a quote with a couple of days of the initial appointment. Never came and after 4 phones calls if which I was promised a response none never came. Do not use this company. They do not deserve to be in business.

Great team! Got my gas fireplace in quickly and without any issues. Very responsive - highly recommend!

This review has been a long time coming. Long story short, we hired Chimney & Fireplace Works (C&FW) and they left our chimney in an unacceptable condition, putting my family at risk for a carbon monoxide leak in our home. We weren't aware of the hazard until our water heater recently broke (which is vented through our chimney) and our plumber alerted us to the issues. We notified C&FW and the owner refused to take accountability or rectify the issue. Now the full story:
When buying our home, our inspector told us the chimney needed a few repairs. On 4/8/21, C&FW came out to inspect it and provide a quote. On 5/18/21, shortly after closing, we reached out to them to schedule the repairs. Eddie (owner) said that he would add us to his wait for July after he received a 25% deposit. We put down a check that night for $1185.
Having heard no word, we waited until 7/6/21 to reach out again asking for a start date. Eddie emailed, "Not quite a firm date yet" This was disappointing. When 8/2/21 came around with no word, we reached out again asking firmly for a start date. Eddie replied stating they were waiting to hear back from their brick supplier. None of this had been communicated to us before we reached out.
Soon after, we were startled to hear people on our roof, which turned out to be Eddie’s team. We received no heads up that they were starting and no communication throughout the project. They also left supplies on our porch and trash (soda bottles, etc.) strewn in our yard.
We were completely in the dark about how far along the project was. After days of silence, we asked Eddie what was going on. He said: "all that still needs to be done is the liner for the water heater needs to be connected...My guys told your husband this the last time they were there and the next day he wasn't around. We will just need access for a short time tomorrow to complete the liner hook up at which time my guys will pick up the final payment"
I responded: "Hi Eddie. As an FYI, I talked to [husband] and he said your guys never communicated with him... [Husband] works from home and was definitely available to speak with them if they had tried. So either they're thinking of the wrong person or they are not being truthful..."
Eddie then backtracked and said: "I will have a talk with my guys generally it goes smoothly however I can say they did not communicate well with me on this job as I thought it was fully done...We will make sure to get this all squared away and 100% finished tomorrow"
The next day, he came and finally the work was done...or so we thought.
Fast forward 2 years... On 10/8/2023, our water heater broke and we contacted a plumber to schedule a repair. The plumber discovered that a pipe that was installed by C&FW to vent the water heater was missing a cap that protects against CO venting back into the house. We were obviously horrified that we had been living with this for over 2 years. Additionally, the plumber found that the cover meant to seal the vent into the chimney was unsealed, hanging loose. Again, in disbelief that we paid over $3.5k and it was left in that state. To make matters worse, the plumber said he could not replace the water heater until the issues were fixed because of liability, which is fair.
We spoke to Eddie on 10/10/23. After explaining the issues, Eddie said there was nothing wrong with leaving that cap off and that our plumber had no idea about what he was talking about. He asked for our plumber's name and company as if he was going to call and bully him... It was very uncomfortable. We continued to ask nicely if he would send someone out, stressing that we were without hot water until this issue was resolved. He eventually said that he would send someone that night or the next morning. Days passed, no one came.
We reached out for a 2nd opinion who confirmed that the missing cap was a hazard. With that knowledge, We called Eddie back a few days later and were ignored.
We finally got everything sorted on 10/24/23 with the help of a different company. -
Super pleased with the service. We had a non functioning very old gas fireplace in a newly purchased condo. We were told by multiple fireplace services that it was too old and they wouldn’t even come look at it. We were able to schedule a service call with Eddie. The appointment took just over an hour. It was a simple fix that he showed me how to troubleshoot on my own if we kept having problems. He also identified some previous ad-hoc fixes that were costing us money. I appreciated his honest advice about how long the ancient unit will likely last and what the cost of replacing it could be when the time comes. I will not hesitate to book again should the need arise.
