Had a huge oak in my backyard over hanging my house . My wife and I contacted Jim’s tree service and let me tell you that they did an amazing job . It took them about 6 hrs to cut down the oak . Very professional.very informative. From the front staff to the crew. Highly recommended. They accidentally knocked down one of my fence posts and quickly came back the next day and repaired it . Highly recommend!

We had an amazing experience with Jim's Tree Service (April 2025). The communication was great. The staff was friendly, and treated our yard with care. They cut down one of our front trees and trimmed the other and we couldn't be happier with the way our home looks. We are glad they talked us into leaving one of the trees as a focal point for our property. Highly recommend.

I’ve been a homeowner for 50 years, and in my experience, Jim’s Tree Service is the best tree service in Dane County. I have them come to our property almost every year to keep it looking it’s best. The crew’s precision is spot on. Their experience and communication is so vast, that they guide you into making the smartest decisions for the best outcome. They’ve removed 60’ trees that were hanging over the house, trimmed a grouping of 20+ year old trees, and everything in between. At the end of a job, their cleanup is so thorough, you won’t even k ow they were there. I’m so impressed with this company, and I highly recommend them.

Yesterday Jim's Tree Service took down our VERY large ash tree that was succumbing to emerald ash borer. This was a difficult and dangerous job because the tree was leaning over the power lines that run along the back lot line of our property. The crew arrived on schedule, and were pleasant and professional. It was fun listening to them do their jobs -- they clearly enjoy working with each other and safety was obviously a top priority. They did their best to prevent damage to our lawn from all the heavy equipment (we expected much worse given all the rain we've had) and they did a great job cleaning up the debris after they were done. Our only complaint is that communication during the scheduling process could've been more timely.

We requested an estimate for the removal of a very large pine tree in our yard. Estimator came in a timely manor and gave us our quote. We waited until the crop of corn was down before setting up our appt. Gave a call to Janet, got us set up and the guys with their equipment arrived on time and got to work. Removal of this tree was no easy task and they had their work cut out for them The team did a wonderful job taking this precarious tree down, cleaned things up and the field and our yard didn't look like they were even there. Great job guys & thank you!!

We had an appointment scheduled for months then at the last minute they cancel and don't even have the decency to give us another date just a we will let you know.Ive been in customer service 20 years and this company clearly doesn't know what good customer service is.

Tangeman Tree Care is extremely professional, knowledgeable and the owner is caring. I had one tree removed, and one tree cabled.

Can’t give more than one star as they never had the courtesy to give us an estimate. Why would you bother to make an appointment, stop and look at the work then ghost on us? In their defense, it does seem to be a characteristic of tree care people.

Dean did a terrific job in felling a 200 year old oak tree. He has done work for me several times and is highly skilled.

They did a great job to remove my old 40" diameter silver maple. I was impressed by how safe and careful they worked. All workers wore safety helmets, glasses, ear protection, safety shoes, gloves... They carefully roped and lowered all branches from as high as 80-100ft. They protected the lawn and nearby gardens, and cleaned up all debris afterwards. A+ service at a good price.

Excellent all around! Assessed health of our 1/3 acre of woods. Very conservative and cautious to maintain health of our trees . Trimmed very old Oaks & Black Cherry, removed Ash trees, chipped & chopped to specification. Very professional. Highly recommend using this Certified Arborist. It was nice to work with someone that cares about the health of our trees & yard and isn't gun-ho to chop down every thing in sight just to make a buck. Will definitely use again!

I used Tangeman for one of my trees this week. They were the only company of 4 that I called that showed up when they said they would. They explained all my options did the work quickly and cleared everything away (avoiding damage to nearby plants). I wouldn't be able to even tell they'd been there if I hadn't hired them. I don't know what their prices compare to an other places (because none of the others showed up within 6 days) as well as obvious technical skill and reliability.

I had contacted Tangeman Tree Care about taking a look at a tree shortly after moving to our new house. He and another arborist took a look and recommended cabling the tree and agreed to complete it. This was in November 2020. They still hadn’t gotten around to doing any of the work by August 2021 and by that time a storm took out the tree. Contacted him to let him know not to bother and he responded with “I checked on the tree a couple weeks ago [before the big storms hit] and it doesn’t look healthy.” Said he had planned on letting me know but never did. I highly recommend going with any other tree service based on our experience. Very little contact, poor communication, and simply not the kind of experience you want to have where someone tells you: by the way your tree doesn’t look healthy and I was going to tell you before it came down but didn’t get around to it.

After using this service once, I called again to get an estimate. Was never emailed the estimate or told there would be an issue but on calling Dean was told that tree removal is now only done if the tree is causing harm (like foundation issues). Hard enough to find tree removal in Stoughton (most services say to call Tangeman) apparently if you want a tree removed it will be easier to start your own service.
