Came on short notice for a one time thorough house cleaning when my wife left town. I was so excited when 5 people showed up and hustled and did a great job in two hours. I was so pleased. I wish my wife would let me hire them on a regular basis!

I recently booked a move-in/move-out service with Madtown Maids for my 700 sq ft apartment. Initially, I was quoted a fee of $249, but I was charged $349. Here is my honest review reflecting my experience:

Service Date: May 2024

Booking Process: The booking process was straightforward, and the team was responsive in setting up the appointment for the following day.

Communication: Throughout the day, there was clear communication about the start time, which was scheduled for around 7 pm. However, there was a miscommunication regarding the additional charges.

Service Quality: The cleaners did a good job with the overall cleaning, including dealing with pet hair and the refrigerator. However, I was informed midway through the service that additional time would be required, resulting in an extra charge of $50 per hour. I was told this would be minimal extra time.

Billing Issue: The initial quoted fee was $249, but I was charged $349. The agency explained that the extra $100 was for two additional hours of work, totaling 7 hours and 15 minutes across three cleaners. However, this was not communicated clearly upfront. My understanding was that the total hours of service would be 5 hours, not knowing that 5 hours would be the added-up time across three cleaners, resulting in 15 hours of billed service. The agency's website and initial discussion did not clarify that the total hours would be calculated per cleaner, rather than the total hours worked.

Response from Agency: When I raised this issue, the response from the agency was defensive, insisting that the charges were valid and the cleaners had worked the entire time. They did not acknowledge the lack of clear communication about the billing process. Furthermore, the agency attempted to morally coerce me by implying that disputing the charges would mean the cleaners would not be paid for their time, which I found to be inappropriate and unprofessional.

Disappointment: I was particularly disappointed given the good reviews I had read and the initially positive communication. The overall experience did not live up to my expectations based on these factors.

Conclusion: While the cleaning itself was satisfactory, the experience was marred by unclear communication about additional charges, an unsatisfactory resolution to my concerns, and an attempt at moral coercion. Customers should be aware that the hourly charges are per cleaner and not a cumulative total for the service.

Based on this experience, I would advise potential customers to seek clear and detailed explanations of any potential additional charges before confirming their booking.

Very prompt communication and flexibility! This was my first time trying to contact a cleaning service for help after an extensive remodel. Oh my, First, I am an older person with limited mobility. I contacted about a half dozen cleaning companies by email, for my recent move out clean up.
Madtown Maids was the service that responded promptly. The emails were engaging and rapid. I received a quote to my satisfaction. And scheduled a cleaning date and time.
I had some challenges on moving day and had to reschedule. Overnight, they changed the appointment with ease to the day I needed them.
On the day of cleaning, I met Terrance. What a beautiful soul! So, bright and cheery, with a huge smile.
