These photos are what my St Augustine lawn looks like after TruGreens latest service call of 7/20 Technician was supposedly treating for broadleaf weed control( I did not have a broadleaf problem) These dead areas were all healthy grass. Noticed yellowing within 24hours and grass was dead in 2-3 days. Notified TruGreen the following week and met "supervisor" on 7/28 He agreed had a problem and contacted his "supervisor" while at my property. That super was to call me back. Did not hear anything. Contacted TruGreen again the following week and "supervisor" did call back and met him on 8/4. Yep we did have a problem and TruGreen would take care of it promptly and replace the damaged areas with St Aug. That is the last contact I have had with TruGreen even though super promised to keep me informed and agreed needed to be repaired quickly. I called TruGreen on8/14 and they would have someone call me within 24-48 hours--no response. You can not call a local TruGreen office. All calls go to a national center where they basically take a message They will not give you a local number to call.
This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced with a large corp such as Tru Green. While I am fully aware "mistakes happen"--as I told the "supervisor"--there is no excuse for this level of ineptitude and indifference to a customer. Technicians have no idea what they are doing or what the chemicals they apply can do They simply follow a cookbook approach dictated by home office protocol. I am not sure what "supervisors" do other than infuriate me. I realize my future options are limited--official complaint to BBC and other service related watchdogs, notify state Ag Dept. about lack of oversight by TruGreen of their chemical applications, attempt to contact TruGreen CEO David Alexander. Maybe this post will generate a response. Whatever you do be very cautious dealing with TruGreen. Highly unprofessional, zero customer respect..They may help you with your lawn or they may damage it beyond repair. Who knows? TruGreen doesn't. Bob DeShazer Pell City, Al. -
THE WORST lawn service I've ever used! I paid upfront for 7 services over a year ago and got MAYBE 4 out of it. My lawn was nice and lush before truegreen started to treat it, but in this past year I now have 60% of my back yard is crabgrass, large bare spots (actual dirt spots), hardly any green at all as it's mostly brown. You cannot convince me that an experienced lawn tech came out time after time and saw the mess of a yard and thought it was okay? Nah! This company is very shady and I have no idea how they are still as popular as they are. I'm out ALOT of $$ and now even more because I have to hire a new company to come fix what truegreen has destroyed. Y'all.. its been real, but you're fired!

I have had TruGreen for many years and they have always done a great job. My yard would not look as good as it does without their help.

Need to be more through. They all seem to be in a hurry to get finished & get gone. Lately, they also don't seem to be very knowledgeble about the treatment they are applying. They sprayed for weeds & killed my grass more than once. I tried calling about it but got someone that couldn't speak english very well, & didn't understand my problem. She said she would have a supervisor call me, but that didn't happen. The last technician said he would have a supervisor call me also. That hasn't happened either. The last person was only going to treat half of my bushes, until I said something to him.

Prepaid service for a year. After 5 services no difference in my yard. Also had them retreat twice. Supervisor came out and said they could nandot make a difference in my yard. Sorry said they could make a difference in only a very area. Talked to another higher level supervisor and he said they gave no guarantees. They did refund 50%. Total waste of money.

Horrible experience with TruGreen! From the first time they’ve not done their job the right way. First time the guy came and one didn’t realize that we have cameras, or that my husband was home. So he thought he could get away with not even spraying whatsoever.
When we called the office to complain the lady admitted that he only logged ten minutes at our house, and she said for our sized yard it would take a minimum of 40 mins. They never spent anywhere near that long on our yard and even after charging us and us stating over and over that crab grass was our main concern, they NEVER treated for this weed. After 14 months of their services our yard looks like this. Horrible service, employees have horrible work ethic. Swapping to mighty green, which we should’ve used before like all of our other neighbors who’s yards look immaculate! -
It's been an experience with this company. We had a very lazy lawn care man assigned to our property. We called to report and they had someone come back within 24 hours and it was done right. The jury is still out about how effective this service is however, they are on top of their customer service in a very good way. We are hopeful that they will have our lawn in Tip-Top shape really soon. Will update in a few weeks 😃

I am experiencing suckers in my yard that are growing everywhere. I ask the lawn specialist from a couple of months ago on how do I get rid of them, and he said I would have to dig them up. Well, if that's the case I wouldn't think I need TruGreen anymore.

Poor service from Greenville Branch. No show or cancelled appoints multiple times (6 or 7), Techs seem to have discretion to no show without directly contact with customer. All cancelation calls received from national call center recordings only, no local follow up. Just auto reschedule. Yard not maintained properly due to missed treatments.

Mr. Walls explained to me, a first-time costumer, the application procedure. He was a professional with good customer service. Now I’ll await the results of the application and hope for sn even better lawn.

Last Edit - Stars reduced from 2 to 1 effective 07/20/23: As previously mentioned, resumed services with TruGreen in June and fully planned to update our review based on performance. Our property was treated on June 29th. We waited 7-21 days for our weeds to wilt as mentioned in our treatment plan. There was no change in our weed issue, resulting in a service call for retreatment on 07/19/23. I was advised at that time that we were scheduled for lime service on 07/20/23 (today) and requested the agent add a note to treat for weeds while visiting our property.
I arrived home from work at 4:10 PM on 07/20/23 and noticed there were no flags in the yard. Upon closer inspection, our lawn had not been treated. At that time I logged into the TruGreen app to check the status of our service. The technician was close and scheduled to arrive at 5:50 (off memory). I was happy at that point as I could show him/her the areas of concern in person. At 5:25 PM I received a notification on the app that the technician arrived and walked onto the porch to greet them. There was no one there. I was not alarmed until I received a $55+ statement seconds later. I reviewed our camera activity for the day to confirm no one has been on our property today, much less rang the doorbell or applied service. At this time I called customer service. I was offered a retreat, which is fine and good. Unfortunately, this does not solve the real problem, technicians are not completing services as evident by the condition of our lawn. I was offered a discount by the customer service agent. Honestly, I am not interested in a discount. All we want is to receive services and not feel we have to babysit employees that should be held accountable by someone other than the customer. I have spent far more time and effort attempting to be a partner in our lawn than anyone from TruGreen has spent treating our lawn at this point. We have canceled our services again and will be seeking a new service effective immediately.
Edited to add 7/11/23: I was contacted by TruGreen shortly after posting my original review for additional information. They sent a manager to my property to access the concerns. I agreed to resume service and give them an opportunity to rectify the issues. On 6/29/23 our yard was fertilized and treated for broadleaf, dallas grass, nut grass and others. So far the weeds are not showing signs of giving up the fight but we know it can take a month for the chemicals to do their job. We have pulled a lot of the most fierce weeds in the hopes of speeding the process along. I'll update the progress in a couple of weeks.
Original review: After over a year of service with TruGreen I give up. I can do bad all by myself. We were promised the best yard in the block during our initial consultation. We did everything, watered, mowed well and even pulled more weeds than I care to admit, eventually giving up due to the severe amount of them. Often they would visit and our cameras didn't pick up activity. These are the same cameras that catch every bunny that hops through our yard. We didn't complain as it was nothing more than a suspicion. The final straw was our last service in early May. The tech left a note stating no chemicals were applied yet we were charged! I called customer service and was scheduled for a retreat. The tech did not spot spray our quickly multiplying weeds. This time I was home and watched. They did spread fertilizer though apparently the broadcaster was not working properly and left a trail of concentrated fertilizer through our yard. Yes, this burnt a trail which added insult to injury. I'm not sure if this is a training issue or if they are just lazy. Regardless, I can't trust them to do the one job they are paid to do. -
This will be long, so strap in.
The first thing that I want to be clear on is that my 1 star rating is not a reflection of my Lawn Care Provider Terrence L. I can't rate him yet because I don't know what was done.
My 1 star rating is a reflection of the customer service that I have gotten overall.
For my very first service, I wanted to be home. However, I had an emergency come up and had to take my wife to the hospital. I received a text notification that my lawn care provider was at my home as I was arriving at the hospital. I really wanted to be able to speak with him about which area of my property was the areas that needed to be treated, and I had questions about the areas that were dirt on my property. I did not have a phone number for Terrence L. I did have the phone number for Josiah King, who was the Salesman who sold me the 1 year service package. I had already tried to call him before I left for the hospital, and sent him pictures of my yard so that he knew which areas needed to be done. I was not able to reach him. I tried his personal cell and his work number. It's almost like after the sale was made, now he is unreachable. This was disappointing to me.
As I was arriving at the hospital, I called Jaden Stiddam, who Josiah told me is his manager at Tru Green. I explained to Jaden that I would like to be put in contact with Terrence L to speak with him about what area of my property was mine and that I had text pictures to Josiah, but that he was not responding to me.
Next thing I know, within 15 minutes total time, I received a text saying that Terrence L was done with my service. I can't even walk through my property within 15 minutes.
I really have no idea what was done? What was the process? If he actually did my front yard, backyard, and both of my side yards?
Jaden did not put me in contact with Terrance L.
Another thing that concerns me is that I was told I would get 8 Lawn Care services. My account only shows that I get 7, and now, after the supposed first service, it is marked down to 6 services left.
Overall, I am not happy. I like to leave good reviews for businesses that take care of me, not bad reviews.
I would change my review to a more positive note if I just got someone to reach out and help me correct my concerns.
What I paid for my annual service may not seem like a lot of money to Tru Green, but it is a lot of money for me.
At any rate, I'm not happy.
Disappointed customer.
Edited 3/24/25
I need a Manager to contact me asap. I need a full refund and I need to cancel my services effective immediately as of today. I will not be using this company again. I have had way to many problems within the past 3 weeks with my new service. -
Tru Green is the biggest rip off! Please save yourself if you live in Pell City, AL. I have complaine each sevice that the guy mist have sit in the truck and did my yard LOL! He was never seen on camera in my front yard. I asked to cancel last time in September I believe then I was told they have no record of my call. They called me back after I rated the service in August or September and thats when I canceled. Anyway the past few times I never saw the worker do anything to my front yard. I pay to get my entire yard serviced! I believe he drives up and sits and sends a text 15 mins later that he's done. I am very disappointed and I canceled my service today. Sadly you cant get a refund so it's as if they stole from me! I am a single parent who tries to keep my yard decent this is money down the drain! I am dissapointed!! Your company will not prosper stealing! Dont do it!! You will lose!! No refund they will come, retreat, and you may run the risk of them burning your grass per the customer service rep!
Dishonesty will give your name a bad business -
I would like to thank the service representative ( Terrence.L)👈

Unfortunately, I didn’t have a good experience with this service provider in my one year contract. By the end of autumn, I realized they never treated the lawn in back of my yard and I kept wondering why it was dying when they told me “oh! We were supposed to cover that backyard too..?”
*UPDATE after 1 month, not happy
My lawn is not looking better, it's actually looking worse every week after the first visit and I've been waiting for some "guarantee visit/evaluation" etc for a week now, but my 4 star review went down to two stars until next update/month
**UPDATE after 3 months, never received my "guarantee visit/evaluation" and my lawn is not better with TruGreen, unfortunately I paid the year plan but I will definitely won't do it again; I have weeds that I didn't have with my previous supplier (TDI), I have soil spots that I didn't have with my previous supplier, and I have to do more work myself to improve my lawn a little - like adding fertilizer and manually removing weeds and etc... -
I just recently hired them to take care of my area in the back yard, took care of it in only 2 treatments and have very kind staff.
