I own The Desert Root design and build in Mesa, AZ and by far, our favorite rock yard is J and J Landscaping Materials. The employees are very professional, the loader is amazing. Thank you J and J for taking such good care of us!

As I write this review, I am tired and hurting because a friend and I just spent the last 2 days, not all day, moving 5 tons of rocks around the yard and I am guessing that I still need 3-4 more tons to finish. I think I am too old for this stuff!! J&J delivered this pain and suffering to us, and I had to pay for it!! LOL!
Seriously though, I am very happy with J&J. The delivery dude was cool. The office was very helpful. Honestly, I think the rocks that I bought, 2 different types and styles, looked better in person after delivery than they looked in the sample bins that they have at the store!! A++ to you guys.

This was my second experience with J and J and their service and pricing are great. The delivery was quick and the driver placed the material perfectly.

Ordered pea gravel for our yard at J & J. We gave them our dimensions and depth we wanted, and they figured out how much we needed. The gravel was delivered this morning, right on time. The delivery guy was so nice. This is not our first experience with J & J and it won't be our last. Great business and people. Love supporting local businesses.

I went to J&J for some table mesa brown rip rap. They had the best material by far! The other yard I went to had a ton of small rocks making it difficult for my gabion walls.

These guys are friendly, fast, and are open on Saturdays. None of the other aggregate places in my area are open on Saturdays. Also, they give military discounts.

J & J Landscaping did a fantastic job at a very reasonable price. They were great at communicating expectations snd very reliable. I would HIGHLY recommend this business to others.

I was blessed by their unequivocal generosity! I went in looking to get a deal on river rock for #justin4prestonlord. There are many individuals and groups painting rocks orange (Preston's favorite color) to spread awareness and stop teen bullying. I was SO surprised when they said "Take all you need. Just bring buckets and let us know what you're here for". I would go w/these guys for all rock landscaping needs 💯

Overall, great experience with owner. Slightly higher prices for Licensed Contractor on materials $49.00 for concrete sand, Ewing $38.00 for contractors price. Our company supports small local business, however small businesses shouldn't charge more then larger companies??

We ordered the Apache Red gravel and the company delivered on-time, placed the gravel in the area we requested and confirmed the same morning prior to arriving. The driver was professional and courteous. I will definitely use their services again.

Love their showcase of stones at their yard, very straight forward. We are doing it ourselves, not professionals, asked about a million questions both over the phone and in person, and made multiple trips, they answered each and every one of the questions.

My rating is on hold for now. Currently determining % fines by weight or volume.

When spreading heavy (weight) fines the compaction changes vs volume. I await a determination by AZ Weights and Measures as to any recommendations and if recommendations are followed by J & J.

Photos attached so you can see what we experienced... this is 1/2" pink coral and it is hard to find.

In all fairness the staff is VERY PROFESSIONAL and they can not control the mines and crushing facilities.

If you want screened and washed material they have it in gold and ONLY in gold.

For the average consumer, I feel by weight vs volume should be specified. Reason is example: 1 ton of feathers spreads further than 1 ton of lead. This product is neither of course but 1 ton of fines is like 1 ton of lead when we're trying for coverage less lead (fines) and more rock (feathers) is expected.

Talk to the employees wherever you go and dig into what's in the bulk bins to see what you're actually getting before you get a pile of mostly (my opinion ... see what's in my hand) fines.

This company is the absolute best. Called for an estimate they made the appointment within 2 days the next week they had me on their schedule. The crew arrived on time. Finished the job in a timely manner. Their workmanship is EXCELLENT! I recommend them for anyone looking for a reputable business.

Tara and Tony did such a great job with our back yard. They were efficient, kept a clean working area, and everything turned out beautifully. They did some really cool things as well, like planted a garden underneath a sunken trampoline. We have stairs that go down underground below the trampoline and there is an amazing garden under there. You can sit below it and have your kids jumping above you. It's crazy! Also, they set up all the irrigation and got everything working to be controlled by an easy app on my phone. Great service and a great job by Desert Root!

Working with Tara and her family on our landscaping project was such a positive experience. They are not only knowledgeable and professional but their considerable expertise in all areas of landscaping, along with their suggestions and option alternatives, ultimately led to an excellent outcome of our project. We highly recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade and/or enhance their property.

The Desert Root helped my husband and I with our backyard sod removal and drip-line installation for our deserts-cape plan about two weeks ago.

From the first time they came to our house for the initial quote, I was so impressed by their work ethic and professionalism. They sent us a very artistic quote within a day and we scheduled for them to come out to to work within a week. This timeliness was very important because we had scheduled for trees to be installed in about 2 weeks and needed the drip-lines before we got them.

Removing the sod and installing the drip-lines took about 7 hours. Our sod was really a mess with the hard and clay-like ground underneath but the team was very diligent about working until all of the roots were out and the remaining ground was level. When they installed the drip-lines they created a full loop around the backyard and installed two lines: one for bushes/agave/cacti and one for trees. The work was exquisite! They spray-painted the lines for bushes/agave/cacti white for us to distinguish between the two easily. They also used a thicker line so that they would last longer without upkeep and gave us a few heads to use that sprayed the water out circularly to properly water new trees.

My husband and I were so pleased with their work that we started communicating with them about a few other jobs: installing a small turf patch and some pavers in the frontyard. They created 3d designs with me on the phone and are bringing out samples soon. Just fabulous work!

I whole-heartedly recommend The Desert Root to anyone who wants sublime work from a professional team. We are so excited to work with them for all of our future projects.

Actually looks like we live in the desert 🌵. No more goofy Arizona grass lawn. Looks beautiful now. Natural, clean and very happy with this company. Tara is a pro and the guys who work there are really nice, respectful and work hard.

Tara and the entire crew are excellent. Their support is top notch after the work is done. I faced a few niggling issues after my backyard was done as one would expect and Tara was always patient in answering my queries and also send support folks as soon as it was needed. Atlast my search for a reliable landscaper is over as I know I can rely on Desert Root for my future landscaping needs which will continue :-) .
