Josh is amazing! Had nothing but problems with my pool and my old service for over 1 year. The water was cloudy and they kept wanting to replace parts that had nothing to do with the real problem. Josh is a master of his craft, I was referred by my local pool shop as the first guy I used no longer travels to my area. I've had him out on two separate occasions; my pool was original with the house and after getting it initially setup with a different company, the motor for the pump went out along with improper plumbing causing leaks/over heating. He was able to diagnose the issue, and re-build the motor and piston chamber and get everything up and running like new. Beyond just the repair, he put a custom backwash valve to prevent leaking-- probably his biggest asset is he is able to very quickly think on his feet and fix irregular issues that arise.

It ran well for about a year before negligence on my end (when I do my routine maintenance. I left a value closed causing a block in the pipes causing one to burst as well as damage to the filters due to over-pressurization.) I have a complex DE filter and regardless of the issues that arise he always seems to have a solution/is prepared-- Josh came out as a courtesy on his day off (as he was going on vacation the following week and wanted to get everything running smooth otherwise the pool would of been in much worse shape by the time he got to it)

As he had plans in the evening, he wanted to be prepared and just based on photos that I sent, he was able to determine what needed to be fixed, as well as the filters my pool used before he came over. Despite a couple of issues, once again he knew his way so well around the system he was able to quickly fix/replace the broken pipe, replace the filters and get the pool running like clockwork.

I'm hoping with better care I can get a good couple years before I need any maintenance on in, but if I do Josh and Glistening Waters is the guy to call, hands down. Whether you have a DE filter, cartridge filter, sand filter, salt pool; this guy knows he way around every component and his confidence is reassuring but it's in the results; My pool scrubber wasn't working due to the issues and the bottom of the pool was getting very dirty, (the skimmer was still operating okay) and after the repair he said let it run for a day adding DE and chlorine and the next morning the pool was glistening once again as he promised! Not a spec of dirt or contaminants to be found.

His prices are fair, he's always on time, and will get the job done right the first time. From simple fixes to entire engine and filter/pipe rebuilds, he'll do it all.

Since our move to Phoenix a year ago we have had a lot of issues with professionalism in businesses and rarely even get called backs. We've had multiple no shows and been ghosted after arranging appointments.This company is the exception and a shining example of what their competitors should aspire to. Called, emailed and finally got a response. Needed pool light replaced and weekly maintenance scheduled. Scheduled for 6/12/24, waited all day and cancelled appointments just to have them no show and no call. Reliability important to me!

My old pool pump was on its last legs. Arizona law states new pumps must be dual-speed or better to save on energy. I decided I could cut energy costs most by getting a new variable speed pump. I went to all the big pool supply stores in metro Phoenix but ran into one problem after another: pump was out of stock or long wait for installation or price was sky-high. So my plan was to buy the pump online for cheap -- then get it professionally installed by a reliable local company. Enter Blue Cactus Pool -- with manager Thomas Birkel! First off, I wanted a company with official credentials. When it comes to water & high-volt electricity I'm not one to take risks with some do-it-yourself'er -- I want somebody who is trained & experienced & licensed & bonded & insured. Upon investigation with AZ Registrar of Contractors, Blue Cactus has ALL the necessary credentials. Second off, I wanted somebody that was responsive & answered my texts & e mails & voice messages. I don't like to be put on hold for 20 minutes or waiting for days to hear back or feeling totally ignored. Thomas Birkel was not only speedy with his communications, but he focused on what I asked & what I wanted -- as opposed to trying to sell me what he wanted. And last but not least, Blue Cactus got me a price -- for a brand new famous-name state-of-the-art variable speed pump -- at a fantastic price lower than anything I could find on the internet, let alone in a store. So long story short I ended up just letting Blue Cactus Pool take care of everything for me: the pump; the installation; & changing out the sand in my filter. I highly recommend Blue Cactus Pool because they took my pool project & made everything so simple & easy & uncomplicated for me -- which is exactly what professional pool people should do.

I just recently purchased a home with a pool I have never owned a pool before and thus, knew nothing about how to care for one. I contacted Blue Cactus and Thomas (the owner) immediately told me that one of his most experienced technicians would be available to provide weekly pool service. The technician has been to my house every week for the past month and is extremely thorough on identifying what needs to be done to my pool, such as, what chemicals need to be added and whether my filter needs cleaning.
