After meeting with 4 different pool companies on site, we are so pleased we settled on 1st Choice Pools. From the very beginning, the guidance, service, timely communications and commitment to their work was 2nd to none. Seriously. After meeting with the owner Daniel, his confidence and knowledge were undeniable. Contract signed, began working with Devin that week, lots of patience and advice getting us to an executable CAD drawing. Not pushy, really felt valued, Devin listened to our concerns / preferences and got us to a simple and geometric design we loved. The build went wonderfully, from excavation to pool fill – the program management and critical path was on point. In additional to the pool, we included two cement pours outside the coping to support a future grill and lounge area – fantastic workmanship. This review is about 10 months late, I share that because we recently had a minor issue – and without question, 1st choice returned and made it right without hesitation. Finally, a tip of the hat and the biggest thank you I can render to Estrella. Estrella was the front office interface, she was always 100% positive and professional. Her email / phone call response time was seconds not minutes and that is not an exaggeration. Responding to my questions on schedule, material inquiries, adjustments – Estrella was the liaison that brought it all together. Thank you, Daniel, Estrella, Devin and the overall 1st Choice Pools team – we are thrilled with the pool and will continue to highly recommend you to other future pool owners.

1st Choice did a beautiful job on my backyard. My pool is fairly small - just 7,000 gallons (not heated). I obtained several quotes and they were reasonable in my opinion. When I signed the contract, I was told 4-6 months. They finished in 4 months. They did not provide or plant the landscaping however they did a beautiful job on the retaining wall. All of the workers involved in the project were professional and responsive. My backyard is an oasis and I love it! I highly recommend them!

Excellent customer service - kept me informed every step of the process. My new tile is beautiful! Entire crew friendly and efficient - everything was done when they said it would be done. I have an attached spa with a spillover into the pool. They installed a stainless steel scupper so the water doesn't touch the spa tile. The tile will be beautiful for years! Stop searching. I had interviewed 4 different pool contractors before I decided on 1st Choice Pools. Daniel listened to our wants and designed a beautiful pool for us. At first we were nervous about the process, but we soon realized we were in good hands. Our yard is small, and the crew had to maneuver around walls and structures, and they did all the work carefully and meticulously. They worked as if they were building the pool for themselves. Tim, the Super, also made himself available whenever I had a question He was always helpful and available. Also, Estrella, the Office Manager was always gracious whenever I texted her with a question. She was helpful and kind each time I contacted her, and it was like visiting a good friend whenever I stopped into their office. Thank you everyone for a wonderful experience and for my beautiful new pool. 1st Choice Pools in Tucson is the best choice.

I cannot say enough good things about this company. Daniel and the rest of his crew are stellar.. If you want things done properly and on time .. this is the way to go.. don't waste your time anywhere else. These guys are honest, personable, and know what they're doing.. You'll be glad you went with them.
They even did things you wouldn't expect like fix plumbing issues, fixed part of the decking etc . I had my pool and hot-tub resurfaced and it looks amazing.

Desert Sky Excavating performed lot and pad prep for my business. I strongly advise against hiring this company. Their work was substandard/not to plan, their management is indifferent, their workers try to cut every corner possible.

We are from Oklahoma and travel the country pouring concrete! Desert Sky Excavating met all our needs and then some! I would highly recommend them!

We have contracted with Desert Sky Excavating (DSE) on two projects - swimming pool infill including cool deck demolition and removing an asphalt driveway and replacing it with concrete. The DSE team listened to our ideas for the projects. They offered alternatives based on their many years of demolition and landscaping experience. Work with the concrete contractor was well-coordinated. Crews cleaned up daily and wrapped up the projects completely. The whole DSE team including owner, project manager, field foreman and crews were always pleasant to work with and treated our projects as if they were working at their own homes.

It was a pleasure dealing with Desert Sky. We had bit of a hard dig for our pool but the guys were excellent. They were on time, professional, and worked very hard to get the job done. They answered our questions, explained what they were doing and cleaned up when they were finished. I highly recommend them.

I am a subcontractor that was hired by Desert Sky Excavating to perform some hydroseeding for mitigation around a newly constructed home. Ryan contacted me and thoroughly explained the nature of the site and the challenges we would encounter. I appreciated Ryan’s honesty by being up front about the project. More times than not, these details are not shared. Everyone I spoke with at Desert Sky Excavating was courteous, and helpful in getting this job scheduled and completed with no problems. Ryan met me on site when it was time to hydroseed and introduced me to the home owner so I could be shown the exact areas to seed. The payment by Desert Sky was prompt, and without delay. During the whole process from the initial call by Ryan to the completion of the job I could tell that this company is top quality and places the highest value on their clients as well as their subcontractors. I highly recommend Desert Sky Excavating to anyone looking for a locally owned full service excavation, site improvement, and utility contractor.

I had a water main break under the driveway. Based on a recommendation, i contacted Ryan at Desert Sky. He was extremely helpful and a pleasure to work with! They showed up before the scheduled time and quickly trenched the line. Pricing was great. The workers were professional, pleasant, and efficient. I think can't recommend them enough and plan on using them again for some back yard work!

I contracted Desert Sky to dig my swimming pool. Their bid was was better than others and they were able to get it done promptly. The crew was professional and very friendly. The dig was excellent which made the job of the contractors following them that much easier. Months after the dig and the pool was finished they were very helpful bringing some dirt back in so i could do final grading/landscaping. Would highly recommend.

Brandyn Russell/Desert Sky Excavating is one of the best contractors I’ve ever engaged with. He is knowledgeable, trustworthy, and he took the time to be on site during Layout when he didn’t have to, including helping! He was patient, kind, answered all of our questions, and offered a competitive price. The four wonderful folks who did our dig were extremely high quality, and did an amazing job!!

By far the best in the business - I have worked with Ryan and James on over 1000+ homes and they have always done a superior job. If you need dirt work, utilities, pool dug, etc. these are the guys to use.

I did not hire this company, and after my experience, I never would.

One of their employees, while operating a company vehicle (a Ford F-350), struck my car on a private one-way road near a school. The impact was to the rear driver-side panel of my vehicle — a clear indicator of fault — and resulted in over $5,000 in damage. Their vehicle had only a minor fender scratch.

Instead of accepting responsibility, the company misrepresented the situation to their insurance provider and refused to take accountability. Their insurer subsequently denied my claim — not because the facts support them, but because the company was unwilling to stand behind its actions.

In my view, this shows a serious lack of integrity and professionalism. If this is how they handle public incidents, I would be very concerned about how they conduct business.

I urge others to consider this when choosing a contractor. Accountability matters.
