We have had an exceptional experience with, and highly recommend WeBuildSanDiego !
Their team upgraded our house including; rebuild a 2nd floor balcony, installation of new rock vernier and siding, roof replacement and subsequent installation of a solar electric and air conditioning/heating systems.

Dave assembled a great team to make our home improvement a reality. The consistent theme was "make it right".

Project leader, Ian was a detail oriented craftsman who listened to our input and concerns while consistently moved the project forward. Under his leadership the team built in quality in as we progressed.
The building skills of Troy and Charlie were the foundation of the successful completion of all of the phases of our project.
Area specialists Florine (masonry), Donny (HVAC) and Shawn (PV solar) each added their own special expertise, drive for quality and enthusiasm to complete their phases of the project.

Compared to other contractor "horror stories", ours has been an "a-typical" home repair/improvement experience. The folks showed up to work on time and prepared to work a full day. Our questions or concerns were immediately addressed and resolved. The consistent theme was we want to "make it right".

Incredible Experience – Good People, Honest, On Time, and Experts in Incentives

Working with SolHome was an excellent experience from start to finish. One of the most valuable parts of this project was how knowledgeable Dave was about rebates and incentives—especially with our Harvest HVAC/Water Heater system. It was the first time I worked with a contractor who truly understood how to navigate these programs. Dave clearly explained what we were eligible for, helped us factor that into the overall budget, pointed us in the right direction, and never left us to figure things out on our own. That support made a huge difference in determining whether we could take the project on financially. Some of the incentives took a while to arrive, as expected, but everything Dave told us upfront has come through exactly as promised.

Beyond that, SolHome was incredibly professional and reliable. They stuck to the schedule, showed up when they said they would, and always kept an open line of communication. The whole team was friendly, communicative, and genuinely listened to our concerns and preferences throughout the process, making adjustments where needed to accommodate our family.

Even after the installation, they’ve continued to support us—answering questions, making sure the system runs smoothly, and helping us fine-tune things as needed. It’s rare to find a contractor who stays engaged after the job is done, and it really shows how much they care about their clients.

Our project wrapped up toward the end of 2024, and now, writing this review in mid-2025, I can confidently say that their continued support and follow-through have held strong over time.

There were a few moments where more discussion/confirmation up front could have helped, but nothing major—and it doesn’t change the fact that this was hands-down the best contractor experiences we’ve had.

We’re so grateful for the work SolHome did and would love to work with them again on future projects. Thank you to Dave, Troy, Tasha, and the whole team for taking such good care of our home and our family!

We recently used the services of SolHome (originally We Build San Diego) to do some small upgrades in our home. We had used them before and really appreciate the company's work ethic, their friendly staff and most especially their policy to get the job done right. We encountered some unexpected issues and their help working with us to problem solve to be able to accomplish what we envisioned was awesome. We upgraded a half bath, a jack and Jill bath and our gas fireplace.

I’ve worked with SolHome on several projects over the years and I’ve been very impressed with their level of professionalism and the overall quality of their craftsmanship. The PV solar system SolHome installed for us in 2022 has operated flawlessly since day one. Recently we had them reroof our home and here again they provided top quality work.

We were extremely pleased with the service, work and communication from this company. We had solar, water heater, air conditioning work done for our home. They were on time, stayed on schedule, let us know when work would be completed and worked with our schedule also. Workers were courteous, prompt and cleaned up their area daily. The supervisor continued throughout the project to communicate effectively. Updates and invoices were timely. Teaching and explanation of the new equipment was clear, concise and they were patient. When only one problem arose, it was fixed immediately. The followup on each project was timely and good service. The systems and apps they use are good for reference. We would highly recommend.

SolHome did a great job installing HeatPump water heater along with Span Electrical panel. Their work was very well executed, with option to select which date. They started work early in the day and worked through it till evening. Quick shout out to David for his prompt response to questions and his integrity.

P.S: Ryan electrical work is commendable with cleanliness and thinking through potential issues.

Wowowowoowowow Solhome is next level, especially if you get lucky enough to work with Tasha. Solhome went above and beyond. They were also by FAR the most knowledgable about rebates. I had requested quotes from about 5 other providers, and not only was Solhome the most economical for the work needed, none of the others had a clue about the details of the rebates that I qualified for, while Tasha and the Solhome team were able to clearly outline all the rebates I qualified for and held my hand throughout the process. I both saved money by working with them, and also "made" money working them due to them finding more rebates I qualified for. They also where extremely accommodating. Due to complications my oven arrived late, resulting in her team having a super tight turn-around to install it before the rebate deadline and they were able to pull it off. I couldnt recommend Tasha and the team more highly.

April 2021
Well it has been nearly 2 years since our last remodel (bathroom - see review for that project below) and when it came time to remodel our kitchen, we got some quotes but in the end we decided to go with We Build San Diego for our kitchen remodel!

Now that the kitchen has been completed we are pleased that we picked WBSD again to do the work! We got a different crew this time but again the professionalism shown by Lane, Charlie, Jason, Troy were top notch! The crew were extremely punctual, always on time exactly to the minute every morning at 7AM. They work hard days and whenever there was a decision to be made (small or large), they would always call us into the kitchen to ask us how we wanted things done instead of just "assuming" we might like something and just making the decision themselves.

The crew were again very respectful of our house, space, and time. Since both my wife and I are working from home these days, they accommodated us when we had meetings or if we had to ask for no loud construction/demolishing noises during our meetings.

Periodically over the project Troy the project manager would stop by and make sure everything was in order and if we needed any modifications, requests, suggestions, etc.. he would work with the crew to get it done.

The kitchen turned out lovely and we are please with the whole experience again with WBSD! (before/after photos attached!)

To be honest, now that the project is over, we are sad to see the crew go (This is how you can tell you made the right choice in selecting the company/people to do the work!). We miss the pizza/mexican lunch parties we had every week with the crew as we sat and got to know them better and a chance to go over any project details with them.

I guess the only solution to that is to have WBSD come back out for future projects we have in mind (garage, patio, etc) when the time is right.

I would not hesitate to recommend the company if you are looking to do a remodel or have some house renovation needs.

After some searching, my wife and I decided to have We Build San Diego redo our master bath. They are a joy to work with. Dave was very flexible with scheduling and worked with us when we had to twice change start dates. He also followed up with us periodically during the project to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. The crew are AWESOME, both Justin and Donny were great workers, they showed up on time and most importantly cleaned up after their work at the end of each day. They were very respectful of our property and house and always kept us in the loop on the work done. They have a great work ethic and good personalities and sense of humor. As a bonus, we have a full fledge lemon tree in our back yard with too many lemons, Justin offered to make us a pitcher of his special homemade lemonade! We came home one day to a cold pitcher of EXCELLENT lemonade in our fridge! On top of that he also cleaned up after himself and the kitchen supplies that he used. I would recommend anyone give We Build San Diego a try for any home improvement projects. Ours was a great experience and yours will be too!

We are so pleased with the four jobs that We Build has done for us: tile floor replacement, a/c install, 7 kWh solar install, and interior repainting. The work was meticulous and the team was skilled, communicative, and respectful. We've got a unique house with a lot of quirks, which required a lot of their time and attention. The team doing the work (Donny, Jace, and others) was a pleasure to have in and around the house and the project manager, Troy, and owner, Dave, were up front about costs, timing, and challenges and worked to minimize all three without sacrificing quality. They use an online project management system to present quotes, collect payments, and delivery daily updates with photos and comments. Questions and issues were handled quickly via text, phone, email, and in person visits, when necessary. We definitely plan to use them for future projects.

David and crew are exceptional. Dave stays current with the newest technology, a feat in this world of innovation. I appreciate that he's agnostic and suggest the best for my needs rather than whatever brand he's paid by.

Our experience has been outstanding! SolHome installed a new HP water heater and a new system last year. The initial install was smooth and completed on time. Their crews communicated with us well throughout the process and left the work area clean after the projects were completed.

Recently we had a problem with one of our solar components and SolHome promptly responded and corrected the issue fairly quickly.

All-in-all is has been a great experience.

We used SolHome for the installation of a new hybrid heat pump electric water heater. The crew of Donny, Luis and Ruben was fantastic. Such a clean install. SolHome is also taking care of all the paperwork for me for the California rebates and incentives for going green tech. 10/10, would highly recommend. Solhome did a great job end to end from quoting of my system, the rebates, finding the best solution, scheduling all the work, and cranking through to the end for me to get a battery backed solar system on my house. SolHome handled our panel upgrade to 200A with smart breakers to support a heat pump water heater and broader electrification, and they did it with care. Huge shout-out to Tasha, who was patient and incredibly knowledgeable as we both navigated the California Energy Smart Homes incentive program together. She made sure we figured out every piece of required documentation, and her understanding of rebates was far beyond what I found with other companies. Cody and the crew were punctual and professional. We had a small smart breaker hiccup after the upgrade, and Troy took care to follow up to help troubleshoot. The folks at SolHome are knowledgeable people who do quality work. Would happily recommend to others.
