My wife and I have worked with Hastings Construction for over 20 years. Justin has completed work, both on simple and complicated projects, including new construction, remodels and repairs, both for us and for many of our clients. On each of those projects he and his team have exhibited a high level of experience, expertise and professionalism. They’re also all very nice people; it’s a pleasure working with them and having them in our home. Justin is an excellent communicator, and is always available to his clients when challenges arise during the completion of a project; he always returns phone calls/texts within a few hours, and most often does so “immediately”.

One recent example to show how Justin goes “above and beyond” to ensure his clients’ satisfaction: Justin’s team installed a Generac generator at our home in October 2022. The unit worked as expected during the early part of the storms/floods we on the Monterey Peninsula experienced in January 2023, but then failed. It simply would not start, or generate electricity as designed. Once it failed, we made immediate contact with the Generac customer service department, which proved both immediately and over the next three months to be entirely unresponsive and untrustworthy. Their goal from the very beginning was to deny responsibility for the failure, which they ultimately did. We made dozens of phone calls to the customer service department and left dozens of voice mail messages, as did Justin’s project manager (initially) and Justin (once we had utterly failed to get any meaningful response from Generac). During that same time period, we experienced more than a dozen PG&E power outages at our home, and were “left in the dark”, without a functioning generator, during all those outages. Finally, in mid-March 2023, after more than three months of us living with a brand new but failed generator, Justin made the “high road” decision to purchase a new generator and deliver/install it at our house, all at his cost and at no cost to us. He hauled away the failed generator, and we understand he plans to continue to attempt to urge Generac to stand behind its product.

We have on many occasions in the past recommended Hastings Construction to friends and clients, and obviously will continue to do so in the future. They are a first-class, reliable business.

Total industrial auto building renovation including concrete, electrical, HVAC, lighting, roof, etc. They did an excellent job. Always on time and on budget. They handled all of the plans, engineering and permitting. Great communication and the staff, which includes in-house design, is incredible. I am already using them on another project and would absolutely recommend them again.

We live in Carmel Valley and hired Justin and his team to do an addition and full remodel of our home including re-plumbing, rewiring, redoing the septic systems and replacing our ridge line beam, after having a terrible experience with our first contractor. Justin's team picked up the project while in the permitting phase and did a fantastic job on all aspects of the project, from pulling the permits through the final. They were always available, transparent with their bid process and exceedingly fair when unknowns came up in the project. Doing a high-end remodel is never cheap, but their pricing was fair, transparent and they worked with us to fit everything we wanted into our budget and schedule. Could not recommend them more highly!

Hastings Construction did an excellent job upgrading my property in downtown Salinas. They were such a pleasure to work with, all the employees were very professional,
responsive and reliable. Jorge was very mindful of the budget and gave suggestions to help keep costs down. So appreciated! They conducted their work in a professional manner keeping the job site clean, and always respectful of the tenants who occupied the building while work was going on. I'm so grateful for the peace of mind and confidence they allowed me to have while under going such a big project. This hardwood floor company may do a great job at a great price, but it'll be at the cost of your neighbors hating you & possibly opening you to liability.

I live in a condo complex, below an apartment they worked on. The crew threw a bunch of carpet & debris down in front of my door. Which, they did eventually pick up. At least the largest pieces. The small stuff? Nah. They just left a bunch of dirt & debris all over my front door, my bushes outside my patio, and worst yet swept a bunch of debris off the upstairs patio directly into my patio. Funny enough, not sweeping the area in front of my door.

I emailed the company about this. No answer. So essentially, they came, they did work upstairs, they messed up my condo because who cares, right?

They also put some sort of fan or electronic device on upstairs that is slapping against the walls so now, ever since they left, I have this nonstop loud clicking in my bathroom. Besides this annoying me to no end, I'm sure it's running the upstairs condo owner's electric bill up. Since no one is renting it, they'll just have to eat that cost.

I plan to notify my HOA about this as well as the debris bring swept into my patio. I'll suggest they be banned from the condo complex.

In summary, if you want them to leave small annoying appliances on & illegally throw debris all over your neighbors property, hire these irresponsible people.

Can't recommend these guys highly enough! Installed a gorgeous new lvp floor in a rental my husband and I own - flawless. Victor and his crew were courteous, knowledgeable, prompt and did an amazing job. They did the whole apartment (the RIGHT way) in a couple of days and every part of the project was smooth and straightforward. Victor and the Model Hardwood Floors team did an outstanding job refinishing our mix of red and white oak floors. They are professionals and craftsmen. From start to finish they were professional, responsive, and even ahead of schedule. The entire house (~1,200 sqft) was sanded, stained, sealed, and trimmed quickly and with great attention to detail. They even pulled out the kitchen appliances to make sure every inch was done properly. The floors look absolutely beautiful, and the whole process was smooth, reasonably priced, and stress-free. I couldn’t be happier with the result and would highly recommend Model Hardwood Floors to anyone looking for top-tier refinishing work.

I went into Monterey Kitchens just to get some consulting done for a remodel I wanted to have done. The staff was extremely helpful and they were eager to help me out. They took the time to learn exactly what was in my head for what I wanted my kitchen to be, and the designs that they were recommending blew me away. I highly, highly recommend you stop by if you are planning a kitchen remodel.

I really can't praise the dream team at Monterey Kitchens and Bath enough. Guido and Victoria are a pleasure to work with and everything was made easier for me because of their experience, support and talent. They took my kitchen project ideas and created spaces far above what I could ever imagine. I looked forward to meeting with them and watching my little kitchen space evolve before my eyes. Guido is an experienced, creative designer with excellent taste who thinks outside the box. He went with me to pick my stone and backslash even offering to drive me to the Bay area for more choices. Victoria did all the 3D plans in order that my non-3 demential brain could see exactly what the space would look like, as well as the plans to submit for a permit. Guido and Victoria helped me pick and buy appliances, which is not easy these days. Every detail was handled including buying hardware. They purchased for me so I got discounts. The three-ring binder they created was a godsend for the contractor. Guido and Victoria were my support system and I will never forget that without them, my gorgeous kitchen would not have happened. We are extraordinarily pleased with the outstanding work performed by Monterey Kitchens. Over a fifteen month period while we lived in Boston, we renovated an old large kitchen, pantry, laundry, bar, and two primary bathrooms in a 1924 historic Spanish Revival Colonial. While the Downsview custom cabinets are high quality and built perfectly to the custom design specifications, we want to recognize Guido Ausenda and Victoria Berti, as they are exceptional people. They exceeded our expectations throughout the entire renovation project. They listened to us and they provided excellent design options appropriate for the property. Additionally, they delivered a broad scope of wrap-around services; sourcing/fabricating countertops, appliances, fixtures, flooring, tile and the installing of the cabinets. They were always easy to work with. Their guidance was invaluable to us in making decisions, and their CAD documents facilitated communications with us through Zoom meetings and for the contractor; roadmaps for sub-subtractor site preparation. Moreover, their help in sourcing other needed building materials was highly valuable.

Guido and Victoria’s performance made a challenging long-distance renovation project much easier for everyone and a wonderful experience for us. We can not thank them enough. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a top-quality, well-designed, and perfectly installed new kitchen, bar, laundry and baths.

Very impressed with their services and the quality of their cabinets. We had a complete house rebuild after a fire. Our contractor recommended Monterey kitchens to help with design of our house. We have not made a better decision in rebuilding our house than hiring Monterey Kitchens. They helped us with every aspect of designing including basic room layout, floor & tile choice, lighting design, complete kitchen and bathroom design, appliance choice, and more. We were warned that rebuilding a house can be stressful and it was at times, but everyone at Monterey Kitchen was very responsive to help with questions and advice. Many sleepless nights for us were avoided. When a problem did come up, rather than point fingers and it did turn out to be a mistake of one of the subcontractors (not one they recommended, we were using a friend), they immediately came up with solutions. Months after they have been paid in full, they continue to help with advice and any questions. We did purchase our cabinets through them as well. While we could have found cheaper cabinets, the quality of both the product and the installation was worth more. So glad we found them and I couldn't imagine working with anyone else!

We are impressed and very happy with our kitchen and master bathroom remodel. We didn't know where to start with remodeling our kitchen at the beginning so we started with buying new stovetop and exhaust hood which was really bad idea. I was so impressed with Guido and Victoria's work at Monterey Kitchens (MK) that I actually asked if I could write a review. And I'm never that guy. They designed the most beautiful kitchen/bar/family room for us. Their design sense is so refined that you cannot tell if form follows function or if function follow form. Every question we had was answered with a comprehensive explanation of "why", which indicated to us that they had given thought to every issue. Never any guess work or equivocation. Just solid, highly experienced advice. Watching it all come together was actually a fun experience, even tho there is not much fun living in a daily remodel disaster. And equally as important as MK's design role, Guido knew the perfect builder to recommend. Obviously, a good builder who knows all the best (and worst) subs is essential to a good result. Jeff Fulton of Fulton Construction was recommended and he too turned out to be just terrific. He and his team were honest, hardworking, and skilled; all you could hope for. What a team we had. No wonder it turned out so beautifully. My wife & I still stop to admire it every time we walk in. I would hire them all again in a heart beat.

After a thorough check-up of our HVAC system, I am truly impressed by the technician's attention to detail. He spent about 45 minutes ensuring everything was functioning optimally. The difference in air quality is noticeable, and the peace of mind knowing our system's in top shape is invaluable.
