Long story time:

We had a roofing company start a reroof project on our home in august. Seemed like a safe time in Los Angeles. Just before the rainy season. But then hurricane Hilary came and it turned out the roofing company wasn’t done in time. (No 5 star review for them)

We got water damage through an awful lot of the house. One of a kind was one of three remediation companies we called to come assess the damage and give us a quote. Omri showed up, and was the only person who seemed to have an in depth understanding of what we were looking at, the actual extent of the damage, and our unique position with regard to insurance. (Our homeowners insurance eventually denied our claim because they said it was the roofers fault. No 5 star review for them either.) Both the other companies we contacted waved a moisture reading camera around and said, “full gut and remodel, 80-100k”.

One of a kind was able and willing to work surgically and preserve what they could, while giving us a contract in two stages (demo and rebuild) so we could pause work if we ran short on funds. Their quote was also way, way lower than the other two companies. Due mostly to their willingness to preserve parts of the house that were not water damaged but would have been expensive to replace, like kitchen cabinets and bathroom tile.

Along the way the project was seamlessly passed to Moe and then Gurgn, who were excellent, friendly, responsive, helpful. The workers they brought in were all friendly and professional. They kept the worksite clean every day, and they stuck to their schedule. There weren’t any problems with the work, nothing had to be redone, everything went very smoothly.

I want to especially call out the demo crew who worked with impressive precision, accuracy, and cleanliness.

And because their price was so reasonable we were able to negotiate with the roofing company to reimburse us directly without involving their insurance.

Today I’m writing this from my living room which looks exactly the way it did before the hurricane. It is almost like nothing ever happened. Three weeks ago the ceiling and most of the walls were taken down to the studs.

So thank you One of a Kind, Omri, Moe, Gurgn, and everyone else who came and worked to make our home right. You guys are the heroes in the story of our flooded house.

I called EverCraft for a quote on a small wall repair and paint project. They responded right away, and gave a very fair quote after I sent some photos over text. Andrew came and did the job in a morning, no sweat. EverCraft is great and I will call them again.

Can't recommend. Highly unprofessional. Owner was on the phone during initial walkthrough of the space, barely said a word. Owner and other painter couldn't follow simple instructions (had to restate multiple times), and left blotchy areas / messy corners on multiple walls. At one point, one of them literally used a brush that had just been used with ANOTHER COLOR of paint on a different color wall. After I raised concerns, owner offered to come back again (don't trust the work so said no) and ultimately gave $20 off. Should have just done it all myself. These guys are amateurs. The fact that they have so many positive reviews is baffling to me considering this was one of the worst experiences with tradespeople I've ever had.

Hired Oleh to help with: hanging string lights, painting, and pressure washing, and the results were great! Oleh was in good communication with me during the progress which helped steer the projects well. Punctual, precise, and work space kept clean. Highly recommend EverCraft.
