Prior 5 Star Rating Review: Helped me resolve problems another HVAC guy had created at my building.

Follow Up Edit: Jeff came out to my building to diagnose problems reported by tenants and give me a quote. Both times he failed to properly diagnose the problems and performed unsatisfactory repairs that caused water leaks from the units. One of the units that started leaking, he advised me to replace (for $2600) and another HVAC person fixed it for $160.

Most recently he missed a scheduled appointment to repair a separate unit and did not call or respond to calls for two days. When he finally showed up two days later he pulls open the wrong unit and tells me it's broken completely and needs to be replaced, but that was the unit I just paid him to do the service he recommended on it! He forgot he told me it was fine just three weeks prior until I read him his text message about it.

The call ended when he started to say I was "upset" and I "just wanted to put bandaids on things". Unprofessional and incompetent.

I had JL Cantrall install new A/C and a new space heater. His company was wonderful, I had gotten 3 estimates for replacing the A/C and space heater in my home. His estimate beat the others by at least $2000.00. He replaced all the ducting and added a metal box where the air intake was just dirt. He also replaced an exhaust vent in the bedroom and that room is no longer the hottest room in the house. None of the other estimates included any of these items. He was very professional and I would recommend him to anyone. He is an honest hard working guy.

After a recent condo purchase, we needed a complete heating/air conditioning solution on the roof to replace a 40 year old existing system that was virtually non-functional. We bid it to 3 local HVAC contractors. What I appreciated about Jeff's bid for the work is he got right to the point on his solution (no 15 minute conversation on the history of his small business which is what we experienced with others), he didn't try to upsell us on things we didn't need, gave a highly competitive price and told us he'd do the work within a week and didn't hedge on that timeframe once he knew he had our business.

Jeff and his team delivered on their commitments - on time and on budget. We had to be on the east coast the entire time dealing with an elderly parent situation and Jeff's team did their work without us there.
The work was done completely and the home left in tip top condition.
System works great. He has been incredibly responsive to all my questions with thoughtful and comprehensive answers. JL Cantrell has my highest endorsement. We've owned a number of properties over the years so we're used to dealing with service vendors - some good, some not so good. JL Cantrell is at the top of the list - trustworthy, knowledgeable, competent, communicative, competitively priced and honest.

I had Jeff Cantrell install an air conditioning unit in our home in Lake Arrowhead. I had obtained a prior bid from another company who insisted that my home required a full ton larger unit than I ultimately had installed by Jeff. Jeff actually took the time to conduct an efficiency test of my existing heating unit, as well as checking vent flow, E-window efficiency and insulation condition before he gave me his recommendations. When he came up with a much smaller unit I questioned his reasoning. It was at this point that I truly discovered the integrity of the man. He not only explained how the smaller unit would operate more efficiently resulting in a savings in reduced electrical usage, he convincingly demonstrated why his recommended brand of equipment was a much superior quality than the equipment offered by the other company, to say nothing of the initial savings from the smaller tonnage. The install was timely, professional and preformed without making a mess. I couldn't have been more pleased with the entire process and the system has preformed in a superior fashion for the last year with no problems. I highly recommend Jeff Cantrell for all your heating and air conditioning needs. He's honest, straight forward and professional.

5 star business here. Reputable, honest, and knowledgeable. I called JL Cantrell on a late Saturday afternoon not expecting anyone to pick-up, but out of desperation to fix my HVAC system (in 30 degree weather) I called anyhow and Jeff picked up right away. I explained the issue to him over the phone, and without hesitation, he gave me tips on what to look for. He spent time with me over the phone to not only diagnose the issue, but resolved it on the spot. His knowledge of the HVAC system was incredible. But more than anything, his customer service and willingness to provide a resolution was what impressed me the most. He easily could have deferred the business elsewhere or made an appointment for another day along with a hefty service charge, but he didn't and this shows a level of professionalism that is hard to find in the industry today. I highly recommend JL Cantrell services and would hire them in the future for any and all HVAC needs!

They were very respectful of our home and really a pleasure to work with! After taking estimates from about a dozen companies, I chose to go with JL Cantrell. They were the perfect combination of affordability and quality for me. Home Depot, Lowes, Burgeson's, All-Pro were all crazy expensive. Then I interviewed some smaller companies who ended up being cheaper but they didn't have the reputation or quality of JL. The owner, Jeff, is super reasonable and easy to deal with. My favorite qualities about him are that he never pressured me into a decision and he honestly works with his clients. Anytime an issue came up, he went above and beyond to take care of me. It has been just over a year now and I am still happy with my system.

My wife and I arrived at our property in Lake Arrowhead with our two children on a Sunday morning to discover the furnace not producing any heat and low temperatures in the 30's. My wife tried calling everyone she could find for a service call with no luck on a Sunday morning. All of a sudden, Jeff with J L Cantrell called me back and we began walking through my issues on the phone which turned into a Facetime call so he could see the furnace. I sent him the model and serial number, he quickly diagnosed our error code, and then directed me to manually reset a limit switch. After a quick restart of the unit, boom, the furnace lit and operated perfectly and we had heat. I insisted on compensating Jeff for saving the day, but he adamantly refused to take any payment. It is not often something like this ends up working out so well I guess it was our lucky day. I can't thank Jeff enough, highly recommend him, and will call him with all of our HVAC issues in the future. Thanks again, Jeff!

Jeff and his team recently replaced all the HVAC hardware in my house. I couldn't be happier with the work they accomplished. Jeff and his crew were on time, clean and very courteous to me and my family. They were able to identify some faults in the HVAC system back when the house was originally constructed and fixed the errors at no extra cost. I love how efficient the new system is and how much better it works compared to my old equipment. The price I paid was much less than the surrounding competitors ($1,000 - $4,00 less) but I feel like we still received top notch service. Since he is not under contract to sell exclusive products I was able to choose the brand and units I had already researched. Thank you Jeff and the rest of the crew at JL Cantrell!

I've called JL Cantrell multiple times for problems with my heater and thermostat. He was referred to me by a friend after he redid a whole heating/cooling system for them. Jeff has always been so easy to work with and made sure that the fixes we made were in our best interest to keep our family safe and comfortable. I had received estimates from other companies before but Jeff is always the most reasonable and he goes above and beyond to make sure the problem didn't happen again. Since his fix with our heater last year we have not had a single problem since and have been warm all winter. He is honest and explains everything you really need and your options too. Highly recommended as your local go to HVAC guy!!

I’d been having issues with my current AC unit for many years and had numerous other technicians out for repairs. Jeff came out last year and made some repairs in order to get me through the summer as I didn’t have the finances to replace the old unit. He charged me VERY little and did an excellent job. He also helped guide me with lots of excellent advice when dealing with my home warranty company, no charge. This summer he came and replaced the entire unit and did a fantastic job. He’s honest, prompt, flexible and understanding. For the first time in 15 years, we are comfortable in our home when it’s hot outside. I wouldn’t THINK of recommending anyone but him for AC/heating needs. 😊

After being taken advantage of by a disreputable and difficult contractor on installation of new HVAC hardware we were left with an array of weird problems and an unbelievably HUGE gas bill each time our heat kicked on. In my search for a different contractor to inspect our system I found Jeff. He came the same day, did a thorough inspection of the previous work and gave me his honest thoughts without trying to sell me on anything. We contracted Jeff to do the repairs he recommended and now our system is so much more efficient. The problems are gone. It works so much better, we are so much more comfortable and our gas bill has been reduced to a third! Other reviewers have called Jeff and his crew knowledgeable, honest, professional, fair, clean and courteous, with attention to detail. Jeff is, without a doubt, the nicest and most honest technician I have ever used. We hired him several years ago to fix our (very old) AC, and he was very reasonably priced and got the job done quickly. Since then, I have called him at least once a summer when something with our AC acts up. He always calls me back and talks me through a few things to troubleshoot the problem. So far, his suggestions have always worked and we haven’t needed him to return. He would never take advantage of anyone or recommend a service that wasn’t totally
necessary. Highly recommend calling for all your AC needs!

I texted him at 6am explaining a thermostat problem I was having, hoping to get someone out that day, which I thought impossible during this cold weather. I called Jeff at J L Cantrell after my heater and air conditioning failed to work. Jeff's team arrived the next day and troubleshoot the issue. They were courteous and professional. After diagnosing the issue Jeff reached out to me shortly after with a detailed quote of parts needed (w/pricing). The idea (on my part) came up of replacing the unit, they coached me that my unit was still good and repairing would be the best solution. There was never any pressure to replace the unit or upsell me. Any and all questions I had were responded to me promptly. I will continue to use Jeff and his team for my air and heating needs. We have a second home in Lake Arrowhead and always wanted to have central A/C but just did not want to deal with all the mess and hassle associated with this project. We got referred to Jeff Cantrell from a neighbor and gave him a call.

From the minute Jeff showed up he we felt comfortable with the project. He took the time to check our existing heating system and performed an efficiency calculation to provide us with the correct system for our home. After he completely explained the quote and how he would perform the install we decided to have the work done.

We set the date and he and his team showed up and did our 4 bedroom home in 2 and a half days. The team did a fantastic job, placed drop cloths everywhere and cleaned up as they went. The project finished on time, worked perfect and was hassle free. He even fixed our heater in the process. Jeff thoroughly explained the install as he walked us through the house.

I could not give a higher recommendation and would not use anyone else. His team is professional, has very fair prices and was done on time with excellent communication throughout the whole process.

Jeff and his crew did a great job on the installation of the split system for our house/granny flat. Previously we had one system for both sides and only one thermostat. I called Jeff because I trust him and I know that he knows his business. He made some recommendations and listened to my input. First of all Jeff is one of the nicest individuals you will ever meet. Needed a new HVAC system both heating and cooling. He methodically looked at our current systems and came up with right system and size for our house. He did not over sell us or make recommendations that weren't necessary or appropriate for our home. His price to replace these systems was very reasonable as well. Best that I've seen. Though, I think I was most impressed by his workmanship. I would consider him a master craftsman at his trade. The neatness and quality of his work is observable and impressive. I'm still in awe of the improvements and difference in the air quality in our home since he completed his work.

We need a new furnace because our heater would not start. During these freezing days. We got a couple of estimates from several companies but AC Plus was the best one and their service was excellent they fit us in to their schedule right away. Thank you for your dedication and service.
